Taliesin blinked at Manelin as the toddler exclaimed, "It didn't hurt!" Completely misinterpruting Manelin's glee, a sudden anger bloomed in the boy. A frown worked it's way onto the child's face.

Softly the toddler mumbled an apology, which Tali waved away. Remaining kneeling 001 studdied the toddler carefully. "Manelin," he started seriously, "is there someone picking on you?" The poor toddler was so scared to come in the room and then he thought that Tali was going to hurt him when he put the hat on.

Manelin shook his head quickly, indicating No. His eyes became downcast, and he scuffed at the floor with his shod foot as he explained in a soft, quavering, voice, "I'm just afraid of the color blue. I don't know why. No one knows why. I just have this deep-seated fear of drowning whenever I see blue. That's why my matron took everything blue out of my room. I'm sorry." His entire body showed that he was sorry as he waited for an outburst. It always came when he said he was frightened for his very life against blue. That was why he never mentioned it anymore...

Afraid of blue? The gentlest color of them all? Tali blinked a bit, taken aback. "Well.. That's good..I guess.." 001 realized what words had just slipped out of his mouth and hastened to clarify. "I mean, it's good your not getting picked on." Gently Tali placed a hand on Manelin's shoulder. "It's okay to be afraid, but you need to remember, the color blue won't hurt you. Not on things like hats or blankets, or circles. You just need to get used to it." Taliesin ruffled the toddler's hair. "I need to get back to work, but feel free to come by sometime. Afterall, I'm going to want my hat back eventually!"

Manelin looked up at Tali again, amazed that Tali wasn't shouting about his "stupid" fear of blue. He blinked at Tali's words, then nodded at the clarification. He wasn't getting picked on as long as he didn't mention his "feelings" about blue. He looked into Tali's eyes as Tali placed a hand on his shoulder and told him it was okay to be afraid! Tali was the first ever to understand him! He couldn't help it. After Tali ruffled his hair, his eyes started to water up, and he placed his arms around Tali and sobbed into his shoulder. "You understand! You actually understand!" was his only reason behind doing this. He actually felt embarressed about doing this, but he couldn't stop the flow of tears that he had kept bottled up until now. They demanded to be set free. Demanded! The ladybug fluttered helplessly around the two, unsure about what to do as the frog that had been trapped in the shoe thus far escaped unseen.

To say Tali was startled when Manelin threw his arms around him would be quite the understatement. The child nearly jerked backwards out of surprise. Ever the bleeding heart, not that he would tell Niki that, Taliesin just stood there awkwardly patting Manelin on the back. Tali devoutly hoped that Vinnie would not choose this moment to come waltzing in the door.

For once it seemed his prayer's were answered as the two were left alone. Taliesin continued to pat Manelin until the toddler had cried all the tears out.

Manelin's tears finally ran dry, and he sniffed in surprise, waiting for them to come back. When they didn't, he pulled his head away Tali's rather wet shoulder and ran an arm across his eyes, trying to dry them. "Sorry," he murmured, "I couldn't help it." That was an understatement. He debated getting out of there right now, but it was then he realized that his shoe wasn't in his hands anymore. He looked around for it through sore eyes and spotted it behind Tali. He moved then bent down to scoop it up, halting as he saw that it was now empty. He blushed even more then he already had. He muttered some words he had heard a matron use in an angry moment under his breath, and straightened with his empty shoe in one hand as his eyes darted around the room in an attempt to find his green froggy. "Erm, Tali? Can I now have some help finding my frog? He's suppose to be the green thing I found..."

Tali sighed before smiling at the younger boy. "Sure. It can't have gone too far.." Unknowingly those words had been spoken for many many generations before a long intense, and usually unfruitful, search. The boy frowned at the door for a moment. "Why don't you look up and down the hall and make sure the frog didn't leave the room. I'll start looking under the beds."

With that the older boy got down on his hands and knees and began to look under the beds.

Manelin nodded in agreement at that, although we wasn't quite sure why Tali was looking under the beds when he was shorter than Tali. He quickly trotted over to the doorway and looked down first. No froggy there. He kept an eye out in case his froggy tried to escape and then looked left. No froggy. He looked right. No froggy. He sighed, then set himself up to guard the doorway in case his froggy ever did try to make a break for it.

The frog itself, on the other hand, was curled up tightly as it watched the search from under the lowest object to still be above the floor. Well, second lowest - it couldn't fit under the lowest. It had scooted all the way towards the back and was against the wall. However, there was this tempting red thing flitting back and forth in front of the frog, as if daring the frog to come out. Too bad it was out of reach and not under the second lowest object like the frog was.

(( xd Yes! Of course, Spot will help. 3nodding ))

Taliesin muttered softly to himself as he finished looking under all the beds and desks. "Hmm... I was just by the cubbyholes so I don't think he's there. Where else haven't I looked?"

While Manelin continued to keep watch, Spot danced back and forth near the bottom of something. It appeared it was trying to say it spotted ((Sry. ><)) something. Spot hoped Tali saw the movement soon before the frog decided it had enough and ate Spot.

A flash of red caught Tali's eye, and he bend down towards the partially open dresser drawer. He hadn't noted it but, there was a ladybug flying around agitatedly. Gently cupping his hands over the bug, Tali called to Manelin. "Is this your ladybug?"

While waiting for an answer the boy peered into the shadowy depths of the drawer. Was that something glinting back at him?

Manelin turned around to look at Tali, hesitated, then came over to look. "Yup, that's Spot alright. What are you doing, Spot?" The ladybug fluttered around in Tali's hands, wanting to get out and wanting to stay where it was safe. The frog tried to shift farther back when it saw a large pink face come into view. It did not want to go back into the smelly shoe! It blinked it's large eyes rapidly, trying to adjust to the light changes.

Taliesin peered in the draw again, jerking back when something inside it fell down. "I think I might have found your frog," he said, trying not to show the brief spike of fear that had shot through him. He didn't like the dark shadowy places. "Will you reach in and see, I don't want your ladybug to get lost as well as the frog.. "

Manelin's skin prickled with goosebumps. He'd rather have held Spot and let Tali look. He started forward with stilted steps, and stopped beside Tali to peer in as well. This couldn't be any worse than trying to get the frog out of it's glass box, it was just... darker. He steeled himself and reached a hand in.

The frog was not amused. That same little grubby hand that had taken it out of its nice home was reaching in here to stuff it back into that smelly shoe. At least it was just out of reach. It croaked in laughter at that.

Manelin made a face as he pulled his arm back out. "I can't reach my froggy. It's just out of my reach." He was not happy that he couldn't reach the froggy. If only he was a little bigger! "I'll take Spot if you want to try," he offered.

Taliesin didn't particularly like that arrangement better but the toddler was just too little. Carefully handing Spot back to Manelin, the child wiped his hands of the sweat that was building up. Reluctantly he reached in for the frog, feeling around until he touched the thing.

With a frown, Taliesin firmly wrapped his hand around the frog and brought it out. "There."
