Kai looked out the window while they drove back to Derrick's home. He had never been outside of Erendale so this was kind of exciting to him. "If your son doesn't mind me staying in his room for a few days. Otherwise I can sleep on a couch or something, or the lake." He hadn't been in a lake before and wondered what kind of creatures he would meet there.

"I'm sorry you didn't get your painting. Perhaps my father can find it for you when I return home. He will certainly reward you for helping me."

Well as long as Alvin didn't mind that someone else would be in his room then Kai would be okay with staying in it. The teen followed after his host giving a small bow to the picture before he continued on into the main part of the house and towards the bedroom. "Well, the only thing I really cant have is garlic. Otherwise, Im pretty much okay. I need blood sometimes, but its not required, and I wont bite you. I can probably go a week without it." Kai had never gone that long without blood, but he was sure he would be fine. After all, his father seemed to be able to do so without much issue.

Kai instantly blushed at the thought of taking blood from Derrick. Did he know that it could lead to more then just a simple bite? Kai wasn't sure if the other was aware of it, and if he wasn't, should he say something? Thinking it over he decided he would say something but he wasn't sure exactly how to do so. "That's, very, uh kind of you. The issue is, a bite has more then just getting blood from you. It can lead to more... intimate situations." As he said this he looked away not sure if he wanted to see Derrick's reaction or not. "Baked macaroni sounds good. Do you need me to help in anyway? I learned how to cook from my father."

"Immune? How did you do that?" Kai was very curious about that. If people could become immune, wouldn't that be a good thing? Well sort of anyways. He knew that the pleasure someone felt when being bitten was to keep them from hurting themselves as they struggled. "Thank you for the offer Derrick." Kai said softly bowing his head. "You have a cook to make meals for you? Wouldn't you like to learn how to cook though? Im sure it couldn't be that hard right?"

"Oh, that's cool." The teen said and nodded listening to just what the other said. "So, to protect your family, you injected them with this venom? Its very smart of you to do so. Your, not a bad guy, just different."

When he was able to call his parents he naturally got ahold of Vlad. Since Sal couldn't exactly talk on a phone. "Dad? Its Kai, Im alright, so before you freak out and figure out who you need to kill" He let out a sigh when his father started to growl. "Mr. Mathis isn't going to hurt me, he is nice to me, and I like him." He said before letting out another sigh. "Father, you cant come and get me yet, we are being watched, he found me in a black market and helped me. He didn't have to do so but he did."

Kai could hear Derrick close by and he looked to see the other listening. Come in, you should have a say in what is being discussed. When his father spoke Kai turned his attention back to the conversation. "Derrick is right here, and you really should listen to what he has to say. He hasn't hurt me once and... I trust him. You should think that I can figure out who to trust on my own." "Kai, you were kidnapped and put on the black market! How can I trust anything your doing right now?! Kai looked to the floor crestfallen as his father brought up his mistake. WHat was he supposed to say to that or to do?

Kai looked at the man that spoke up to his father. He was in awe. No one ever talked back to the vampire, but his mother! The teen wiped away a pink tear before he looked away hoping that Derrick didn't see the light stain on his cheek. Thank you. The merman-vampire hybrid thought in Derricks direction.

"Who are you to question my parenting approach? I have him watched constantly. I cant be everywhere at once I still have to be watchful of my spouse, my child, and countless vampires to protect and keep an eye on."
