Journal Entry: 3-20-06
I'm not entirely sure what to think about the whole 'jar' thing...on one hand, I'm kind of eager to see what will happen - what kind of child will be drawn by my gift. But on the other...I'm actually a bit doubtful of it. I'm not altogether certain why, especially since I've had children with stranger 'births' - but I still feel somewhat uncertain about it.
And then of course, there's the concern over whether or not anyone will be drawn by my gift. I mean, honestly ~ what was I thinking? A cracked mirror? I'd been trying to think of something, and I had that tiny little mirror on hand...so of course, it was what I put into the jar. But what kind of fae would be drawn by something like that?
I should have picked something more appealing, I suppose. Something broken like that can't be enough to attract a fae's attention, I'm sure...after all, I know I probably wouldn't go for something like that.
Ah well, I guess I'll find out.

Shy What the-- the jar is filled with light. Literally. It is hard to explain really. It's bright, hard to look at but also so incredibly warm... just what was the fae before? And why the hell a cracked mirror? No matter. Try to stick an object inside the jar, and you'll come across something wet, thick. The way mercury might feel, should you have the nerve to touch it.

Quote: The clinic was - well, she didn't really know what she was expecting. Aletea, afterall, had never actually had a child born from a jar. Thus, she had no idea what kind of place would really be involved in it; plenty of experience with other strange children, yes, but none quite like this. So it was with no small amount of apprehension that she entered the building, holding the glowing jar. And it was quite literally glowing - and very bright. After approaching the reception desk, she carefully set it on the surface before peeking around to see if anyone was there. "Who does he think I am, his servant? This is only temporary, damn it. Until Nora comes back from maternity leave! And what the hell is taking that old bat so long, anyways? Don't you only need a couple of days to recuperate from having a baby?"
Quiet muttering under her breath, the small, blonde form of the project secretary/receptionist walked into view from the back room. Clearly unaware that she was in the presence of a stranger, she continued her tirade.
And stopped, blinking. What was that ligh--
Oohh.
"You must be one of the new owners." Beth tilted her head, frowning. It was one or the other, but she didn't feel like guessing yet-- she'd leave that to Shy. "And it's glowing so soon? That's a good sign." she smiled, relaxing and became a much more friendly sight than before. "My name is Beth, and why don't I punch you in before you go and see Shy?"Smiling at the woman, Aletea could feel herself relax a bit. This certainly seemed like any other sort of doctor's office type place - though technically she supposed this was more of a scientists office. It had the feel of a doctor's office, though. "A pleasure to meet you, Beth. I'm Aletea..." Well, at least the early glowing was good! She'd been certain that - if it did work - it would take longer. After Aletea spoke, she waited to be be told she could go see him. And where, for that matter - she certainly didn't know where to go in here. "Beth, did you find the zebra patterned hamsters already?" Shy sounded surprised through the speaker.
Beth gritted her teeth. Not in front of project guardians. "Not yet, Shy." she said. "We've got an appointment."
"We? Very well. Send her in. But come up with her, will you? Last time you sent someone on their own, they got lost and I ended up trying to pull them out of the maternity ward."
Beth closed her eyes. "Shy, you're on speaker." she said. "I always put you on speaker. Now, her folder should be on your desk... the first or second one? I'll bring her to you right away."
"Thank you Beth~~"
Beth blinked, and when she smiled again, it was just slightly more forced. "Now, Aletea." she said warmly. "Why don't you follow me? It's a short trip, and any questions you have about the main man, you can ask me before we actually get anywhere." she grinned. At the comment about questions, there was one thing that immediately came to mind. Though perhaps it wasn't quite what would have been expected... "Zebra patterned hamsters?" Aletea carried the jar along with her, musing over that. Well, that detracted a bit from the hospital-like feel; now it seemed like she was traversing into a mad scientists lab. Without the scariness. Or the 'mad' part...alright, she'd just stick with 'scientist'. "Nevermind, I probably don't want to know," an amused smile had slid onto her face as she came to this conclusion. "It's..." Beth paused, frowning. Well. Maybe it wasn't right for her to say that it was a crazy quirk by a lunatic yet.
The hall way down, the elevator up and the then the next hall way sideways was a quick enough journey-- for Beth.
"The lab is mostly underground. Shy bought this estate off of someone because he enjoys the gardens. So all our offices and quarters are above ground, while the nitty gritty gets on down below."
The last door in the hallway. There was something faintly horror movie-esque about it.
"He's a genetic scientist. And if he asks you about those hamsters... just tell him you haven't seen them yet." Beth smiled, and knocked on the door.
"Shy, Aletea's here to see you." she stated. Check. Yep, uncross that mad part; this fit the part of an mad scientist. Any sort of underground labs fit easily into that - there was no way for it to not fit into the stereotype. Briefly, she had an image pop into her mind of Frankenstein, before she chased it away with a twitch at her lips. She murmured something quiet to herself, that might have barely been audible to Beth - or not at all. "Frankenstein hamsters..." After that, she waited to be granted entrance to the lab. "Come in, Beth. And Aletea too."
Beth's lips quirked in a slight smile as she caught the first word. Pushing open the door, she held it open for Aletea to walk into first.
The office wasn't quite proper. A round room with floor to wall ceilings and a little 'living room' in a center indent, it was more like a suite gone wrong. Thick carpets, brocade curtains and a little sofa set in the middle of the room complete with snacks.
"And look at you." Shy cooed from his position at the deks. Thin, fragile and hardly capable of holding the files and the computer, the desk seemed to buckle when Shy got up, crossing the room to meet his new project.
"Please, come in. And welcome to the project."At seeing the curtains, another amusing thought entered Aletea's mind. Frankenstein meets the Fortune Teller. Seeing as how these little voices tended to be inappropriate, she pleasantly shuffled that thought to the back of her mind, and instead greeted the scientist. Stepping into the room, she smiled at Shy in a friendly manner. Whatever misgivings she may have, she was the guest here, and it wasn't good to be rude. Especially when he was the one responsible for your child, even if he wasn't there yet. "Thank you, it's nice to be a part of it." "Please, sit down. Do you want anything to drink? Water? Ice tea? Diet soda?" he moved her into the center pit, directing her towards one of the chairs. "It's good to meet you. How has the jar been acting? Has it hurt you yet?" Shy frowned. He knew some had a habit of sending out nasty shocks... but this one was so pretty! Surely, it wasn't the type to do the same thing.
Beth coughed discreetly.
"Thank you Beth." Shy said, and nodded his head. "And if you find the hamsters..."
"I'll contact you right away." she said dryly, and shut the door.Aletea took a seat on the chair, and gave a blink at the comment about it hurting her. Well, she hadn't noticed anything... "No, it hasn't shocked me or anything. I seems somewhat peaceful, but that's difficult to tell with something this small." Of course, she had no idea that while the little Fae wasn't inclined to hurt people, he could hardly be called 'peaceful.' But she would find that out later. "An ice tea would be good, thank you." Shy beamed. This one had good taste! From a pitcher, he poured them both iced tea in highball glasses and decorated it with pink cocktail umbrellas. There was enough syrup in it to kill, but Shy had an extreme sweet tooth.
"The jars, the glowing mass in it can develop subtle personalities. Sometimes it isn't consistent with what they become in the future, but it gives you some sense of their previous life. Essentially, the mass is the energy of one of the degenerated fae going through a series of chemical reactions. It's..." he frowned. Well, complicated. Even for him to explain.
"Like magic." he said instead. Hey. Anything to make it easier for himself.Well, she had been completely lost throughout his explanation; Aletea was quite willing to take the 'like magic' thing at face value. While she herself didn't practice it, it was kind of hard not to believe in it when you had an enchanted dragon plushie living in your house. Though she had to pause in her thoughts to eye the iced tea - it wasn't quite what she had been expecting. Well, she drank it all the same. "Magic, huh? I suppose that works." "What did you offer the jar?" Shy asked, curious. He was nosy. "Sometimes the gift can give a suggestion as to the type of fae that will emerge from the jar."
It rarely did, actually. But Shy was the curious type.
His smile grew when she drank his iced tea. See, it wasn't so wierd that people refused to touch it!Aletea took a moment to pause and gaze at the iced tea, before giving a shrug and taking another sip. It was...sweet. Very, very sweet. But it actually didn't seem that bad, though it wouldn't be her first choice for a drink. "Oh, the offering?" Honestly, she felt a bit embaressed by it, "...it, ah, was a cracked mirror." Somehow it seemed like she should have put more thought into it, and offered something more extravagent. Or at least something that wasn't broken. "A _cracked_ mirror?" Shy blinked. Well. The oddest thing he had heard of had been a stapler. But a cracked one? Shaking his head and wondering just what kind of fae would come out of _that_ offering, Shy nodded.
"Well, at least it won't be boring." he said simply.
Leaning back and sipping at his own drink, Shy watched Aletea. Now. Just what kind of woman was this? What should he expect, from this type of woman? The inquisitiveness in his gaze was obvious-- and rather stalkerish, actually.
"Do you have any questions?" he asked.Tracing the rim of her drink, Aletea shifted her thoughts over to the business side of things. After a moment of deliberating, she spoke. "Yes...first of all, what kind of time frame can I expect the child to arrive in?" Her entire manner had changed as she went into a more business-like mode, becoming more serious. She might have noticed the look in Shy's eyes, but she was too intent. "And then...why, exactly, are you doing this project?" Her gaze had sharpened at this. She could think of a number of reasons for people like this to be brought back, and as she didn't know Shy, she didn't know what to expect. Aletea felt that she had to know, to make certain that she understood exactly what this was all about. "Two weeks, usually. Sometimes they take a little bit longer, sometimes they appear right away. We're still not sure as to what causes this... some of my colleagues believe that it may have something to do with their potential? As in, the more powerful they are, the faster they can reincarnate themselves... or the more slowly." he shrugged. It was still up in the air. "The details of the project haven't been ironed out completely yet."
At the next question, Shy frowned. His attention was completely focused on the rim of his glass as he shrugged. "Why shouldn't I be?" he asked.
"And yourself? Just what made you agree to our project? Some people I have met returned their jars to me, or left it dormat. Why did you agree to my little project?" Well, it seemed like Shy was in it just for typical scientist curiousity. Nothing too wrong about that, at least - some of her misgiving were swept away, then. And when the question was turned back around on her, she gave a pause. "Honestly, I think it's mostly curiousity." That truly was an honest answer, though of course there was always more to such things then that. The fact that she liked children, liked being able to 'guide' them, and a number of other things also played into it. But at this stage, it didn't seem too easy to get emotionally attached to a glowing jar. "Do you have any children, Aletea?" Shy paused, tugged at a plate on the table and chewed thoughtfully on a piece of chocolate cake, as if it was the most important task in the world.
After he had finished, Shy blinked.
"Curious, about what? Raising a child must be the same across the board, and ... well. Gaia is full of such oddities..." he tilted his head. Yes. The chocolate cake was goo oo ood~!"Well, curious about what the child will be like. It's not actually just because this child is going to be different, but more of a general curiosity with any child about what they're going to be like. Though, the project is interesting in itself..." Gaia was filled with oddities, yes, but Aletea still found them all interesting. Every 'oddity' was different and strange - somehow new, however many she saw. "Other children? Oh, yes...Let's see.." Figuring in her head that while Akiya lived with her, the dragon probably didn't count as a child any more, she answered. "I have four - and then there's one more, who's technically not my child...he's a miniature dragon. He lives with me though, and helps me take care of them." Shy caught one word. "A _dragon_?" he almost squealed with delight, and leaning over, placed a hand on Aletea's arm. "You know, I happen to be a genetic scientist... I can create creatures and merge two species using genetic samples." he smiled. "I haven't had a chance to work with a dragon yet..."
He nearly fluttered his lashes-- except the last time he had done that, Beth had smacked him silly, saying that it gave her the creeps.Aletea felt some amusement bubble up at Shy's reaction to hearing about Akiya. Well, she should have expected it - dragons still were considered rare and mystical in Gaia, so of course a scientist would be interested in him. Though she really didn't know how Akiya would react to someone wanting to make him into a lab rat... Albeit, the image in her mind was amusing. "It would have to be his choice - I don't know how he would feel about it. But next time I come in, I'll see if he wants to join me." Who knew - maybe the little dragon would actually agree to join her.
Shy smiled. Settling back into his own chair with a slightly satisfied expression on his face, he nodded his head. A dragon for him to play with! That would be very interesting.
"Now." Shy said, pausing. "When your child is... born, from the jar, they'll be about 7 to 9 years old. You'll be expected to bring them back to me for visits every week, for medical evaluations. He or she will be assigned with two tutors. In the future, they will take over lessons required to control their powers, and the other stuff." Shy frowned. Was he missing anything? Aletea gave nods to signify her understanding as Shy explained a bit further. Well, that sounded like it was about it...she certainly couldn't think anything more up. And judging by the look on the scientists face, neither could Shy. Smiling at him, "Are we done, then?" Shy paused, tilted his head and nodded.
"It was a pleasure to meet you, Aletea." he said, getting up. "Should you ever have any questions, please, give me a call. Either I or my secretary will get back to you as soon as possible." Walking over to his desk, he pulled out a card. Alete took the card with a smile, and nodded. "I'll be sure to do so..." Well, this hadn't quite been what she was expecting. A mad scientist, yes - but apparently one with a fascination for strange 'iced tea' and dragons. Well, this couldn't be too bad, then. "It was a pleasure meeting you, Shy." And with the still glowing jar, she then left.

Five days had passed since Aletea had met Shy. The day was a remarkably pretty, calm, with enough golden light to make napping sound like heaven.
During the lazy afternoon, a crash is heard from the jar's 'room'. Rushing up to investigate the cause of the crash, Aletea will find a ... kid. Blonde haired, blue eyed and completely naked, the kid turns it's back on you with a scowl.
Peeping tom you.

Quote: Well, I finally have met my little fae. And he's a strange one to be sure. I'd been expecting...well, a typical child - Varian is most definintly not normal, in any way. First of all, was how I found him - or rather, how he reacted when I found him. He was upstairs, and I found him completely naked. Now, Shy told me that he should be 7-9 years old - and what child around that age is modest? But Varian was; he turned his back on me and was furious. That was only the start of it, too...he's been critiquing the decor of the house, complaining about the cleanliness, demanding to be allowed to go shopping... Anything I've bought that a normal child would like - cartoons, board games, a bicycle - he's scorned. Instead, he's been waning to go to art galleries, and watch dancing on tv. I might wind up signing him up for a dancing class, since he seems to like it so much...at least then he'd be getting some exercise. Because any other sort of physical exertion, he refuses to do. And despite the fact that he's a vain little brat, he's also startlingly endearing. Well, if you're around him enough. He starts to lose some of that arrogance - though it's still pretty obviously there. Varian can be quite sweet if he's distracted, and if things match up to his idea of what things should be and look like. -Aletea

Quote: I took Varian shopping today, as he refused to wear any of the typical children's clothes that I had bought for him - jeans and so forth (though he had to wear some to go shopping). Bad move. I swear, once we got out there, he had to visit every single high-priced store: he refused to even glance at the cheaper places. And after this afternoon, the phrase 'clothes-horse' is coming to mind because of how much he bought and wanted to buy. It's all very nice looking, yes, but...did he really need that much clothing? One thing that struck me as odd, was that he didn't buy a single pair of jeans. He bought things like Yukata's, robes, formal suit-type pants (and even that was rare). In fact, the vast majority of what he bought was either some variation on a robe or some variation of Japanese clothing. At least he was more varied in colors, though white seemed to be the predominating color. Blues, blacks, greens - he only actually picked out cool colors; he scoffed at me when I suggested any other color. In fact, he scoffed at me the entire time. Well, at the end of it all, Varian had plenty of clothing. And my wallet is significantly lighter. -Aletea

Quote: Varian was going to drive her insane in a very short time, Aletea was certain. The little blonde boy was sitting on a bench at the moment, his expression and posture simply radiating superiority as he watched people walk by.
Taking a quick glance around, then at Varian, she decided on something.
"Varian, I have to go pick up some things - do you mind waiting here?" the child simply raised one scornful eyebrow at her, which she took as an affirmative.
"Ok, just stay here!"
And then she scurried off to go run her errand. Nobody was likely to bother Varian in such a crowded area, even if his superior attitude didn't scare them off.
The busy little street filled with shops was quite interesting, but Varian had to look somewhat strange. A small blonde child that made people do a double-take to check gender, wearing a white yukata.Shiro was shopping around for a few things down the street. Maturin had wanted to stay home and practice his trumpet, and Zack REALLY didn't want to stay home around that, and preferred to run outside anyways, so he followed Shiro to the store. Now, though, he was sitting on the floor by the door, looking posatively bored! He thought this would be more exciting! More running and jumping involved...not so much....sitting...sitting was terrible...it was so...still and boring...
Shiro laughed as he noticed the other, and walked over to the spikey haired boy. "Hey Zack...you're old enough to walk around and stuff on your own right?" Zack's yellow eyes brightened, literally, as an enthused look brightened his face.
"Yeah! Of course!" He grinned, nodding. Shiro laughed and ruffled the static-ey hair.
"Alright. Stay in the area, and you can go out and play." He handed him a cell phone, which he immedietly put into his pocket as he jumped to his feet. "I'll call when I'm done."
"YAYTHANKYOUBYE!" Zack quickly let loose before jumping out of the store, literally.
Zack wandered around the streets, looking around, looking rather bright and enthusiastic at finally being out, and better yet alone! This was very exciting! He was practically skipping as he walked down the street.
After a moment, he noticed a blond boy..boy? girl? no...probably boy...looking a little younger then him, but still generally around the same age sitting alone on a bench. Wait, sitting alone? That's not good! Zack immedietly thought to keep the person company. He immedietly ran over, happily and jumped in front of the other, brightly.
"Hi! My name's Zack! What's yours? Who are you? Why are you sitting on a benh all alone? Do you like being alone? Would you like company? I'll keep you company if you want!" He immedietly sprang into conversation as soon as he handed in front of the person, waving brightly at first, before chattering on.For a moment, Varian simply stared at the hyperactive child who had bounced in front of him. Shock that anyone would have the nerve to bother him, anger that someone would intrude on his personal space in such a rude manner and - well, he was just generally irritated. But that was just the way the little fae tended to be when other people were involved.
"Don't you have any concept of personal space?" The words were spoken in a demanding tone, and those blue eyes were narrowed at the larger boy.
The words themselves were rather eloquent for his age - but that was just the sort of person Varian was. Anything that made him appear more cultured and sophisticated then other people were things that he took full advantage of - such as language.Zack completely disreguarded the tone of voice the other used on him. He seemed to remember someone who spoke the same way...he remembered it being some girl. Did he make a mistake? Was this person in front of him a girl? He remembered he met some girls who weren't like that one, but this person seemed to have a similar tone of voice...so maybe it was a girl thing. Oh well.
"Well, my brother's talked about personal space to me sometimes. Personal space is cool, I guess, but how can you have fun if people are all the way down there from you?" He just sort of waved his hand off in a general direction, casually, as he chatted with the other, not really feeling as if there was anything wrong in what he was doing, more just feeling like talking with someone...who hadn't really told him to go away just yet. Something occured to him.
"By the way, you never told me your name. I told you mine. My brother says it's common courtesy to give your own name when someone else offers theirs. Plus I'd like to know your name. It's easier to remember new friends when I remember their name. Name's are special things, y'know? I think names are interesting, do you think names are interesting?"
Wow...Zack seemed to talk a lot when he's happy.Varian could just feel his lip curling in disgust as the other boy continued to yammer away. It seemed he'd have to be a bit more blunt to get his point across here, as Zack seemed completely oblivious to how Varain felt in this matter.
"Varian. And go away."
If the other fae had met him in some way that was less intrusive, and if he had been more sedate and polite - well, he might have been willing to carry on a conversation. But with what the vain fae saw as a breach of manners - just leaping into conversation and intruding on his personal space - automatically caused him to reject the other.
His sweeping hair slipped over his shoulder as he tilted his head to glare at the other boy, as if trying to make him go away through sheer intensity. On most people, it would work...but Zack hardly seemed like a normal person.Zack huffed. Now why would, when Zack had started the conversation, this Varian had continued the conversation with a question, which obviously kept the conversation going and now he was saying go away. Most people he met either liked him, or told him to go away straight off. He hadn't really encountered too many sarcastic people before, which might explain this. Well! The way that this Varian was looking at him, it didn't seem like this person was very happy. Unknowing that it was him that was causing the other's anger, he decided to try and make the other person happy.
"You don't seem very happy Varian. Nice name, by the way. Sounds...exotic or something. I dunno, but it's nice. Are you a generally happy person, Varian? You should smile, see." He grinned broughly. "Smiling is good! Makes you all happy inside. What makes you smile? Do you like to hang out with your friends? Playing in the park? Playing in the park always makes me happy! You should be happier, Varian, give big smiles!" He laughed from his own enthusiasm as he continued to chatter onwards.Varian could feel himself becoming more and more frustrated with this other boy - though if he had bothered to think about it, the comment he made was true: he wasn't exactly what you could call happy. This other boy - who had yet to introduce himself - had barely slipped out of his happiness at telling him to go away.
"Of course it's a nice name. Do you even have one?" This was spoken with that irritation and a slight bit of haughtiness as he eyed the other boy. The fact that Zack had yet to introduce himself, simply proved (in Varian's mind, anyway)that he didn't have much in the way of manners. But seeing as how the other was so persistant, it was unlikely he'd get him to go away.
All the same, that didn't mean the little blonde fae had to be friendly.Zack laughed, finding this Varian quite interesting. Seeing as Zack hadn't gotten to know all that many people in his life, he hadn't quite met anyone like this guy before.
"Why, I did introduce myself! When I first showed up, if you remember correctly." He giggled. "I remember running over, jumping in front of you and saying; Hi! My name's Zack. And then started asking you questions and stuff. Do you have a short term memory? I know someone who has a pretty unstable memory. It's funny. Do you always act this way to everyone? Hmn...Do you have any friends? Do you want to have friends? Wanna be friends with me?"
Zack continued to babble on, really asking whatever just happened to come to mind, seeming to find solace in just babbling on with this complete stranger, the most he really knew about him was his name. But! Zack was trying to remedy this.Varian paused for a moment. The other had introduced himself? Well...he was probably too appalled by someone just babbling on that he had missed it - or Zack had spoken too quickly for him to catch it. The vain fae refused to even consider what the older boy had suggested - that he had a short-term memory - or that he wasn't paying attention. He was quite happy to lay all the blame on Zack.
Though now it seemed that Zack wasn't quite as rude as he had thought. He was still rude, yes, but not as extreme. That still didn't mean that the blonde wasn't irritated, however. Honestly, the constant stream of words coming from Zack just seemed to run together, until it looked almost like those blue eyes were glazing over.
Snapping himself out of that, his increasing irritation was showing quite nicely on a rather sour expression. Having already tried - and failed - to make Zack go away through a few different methods, he decided to attempt another: walking away.
So he hopped up off the bench, and strolled over to the art gallery that happened be right by there. His logic was that if Zack did follow him, he'd probably get kicked out for making too much nosie. Then Varian could enjoy himself, as he really cared little about Aletea telling him to stay there.
Of course, he'd forgotten about one thing: art galleries didn't tend to like children walking around unsupervised. If Zack was thrown out, Varain was likely to be as well.Zack watched as Varian hopped off the bench and started towards the art gallery. He frowned lightly as he realized that the younger boy had run off without answering his questions! He didn't even say anything to him to acknowledge that he had even talked to him! This boy was a bit rude. Or at least in Zack's opinion.
He watched as he walked over to the art gallery before deciding to follow him. He'd never really been to too many quiet type places, although as he entered the magnificent place he realized that this place was sort of like that library he'd been to a while ago. Someplace where they told you to hush and be quiet if you spoke to loudly. Well then, he'd just have to lower his voice a little bit then, wouldn't he?
He dashed over to catch up with Varian until they were walking side by side. He turned to the other, and leaned in before whispering lightly to the other. "Have you been here before? Should you really be running off like that? Since you were sitting on that park bench doesn't that mean you were waiting for someone?" He paused, watching the people pass by before continuing his questions. "If you were waiting for someone did they say it was alright for you to wander off and stuff?" He murmured in a surprisingly quiet voice.
It was true that Zack was a hyper little talkative ball of energy, but he hated being pushed around and thrown out of stuff even more. He remembered getting thrown out of the library the first time he was there. Shiro had scoulded him pretty well and Maturin beat up on him too. They quickly lectured Zack on what he should do if he ever found himself in one of those quiet places. They forcibly taught him how to speak quietly and not in long streams when he was in these places or he'd quickly get bossed around by some stiff old person and more then likely kicked out. Arg how he hated being pushed around!
He looked around the art gallery. Even though he had to be quiet in here...it looked nice. Simply leaving without answering questions was most certainly rude - but the little fae would simply respond with something along the lines of desperate situations calls for desperate measures. And of course, he had a standard for everyone else and a different standrad for himself.
Varian wasn't certain whether to be irritated or mollified that Zack had quieted down. At least he was more bearable at this volume...so he chose to fall somewhere inbetween,
"My guardian will know where I am," was the first murmured response the blonde gave. And it was true - after seeing that he was gone, Aletea would likely assume he'd gone into the art gallery. She'd be irritated with him, and scold, of course - but he was already able to tune that out into a slightly annoying buzz.
And next, he fixed an appraising eye over the older boy as he continued to speak bluntly in that quiet tone, "I hadn't realized you could be quiet."
Of course, he had only know the boy for a short time, but he didn't bother to factor that into his appraisal. ((I'm sorry for how slow I've been. I've been coming home from school so tired lately. I'm sorry))
Zack squeaked a bit as he tried to refrain himself from bursting out laughing at the other's comment about him being quiet. Personally, it surprised him himself that he could be this quiet.
"Well...I hate being pushed around and stuff...so my older brother...sorta...Maturin taught me how to talk quiet...'cause he's a quiet person."
He paused as he looked around some more, looking out for guards, making sure to keep his voice extra low when around them. He had no idea that they could get in trouble just for being children and walking around and stuff. He was only worried about talking and messing up the exhibits and stuff. He looked around and noticed some of the paintings and statues.
"Hey...this place is really nice. Do you come here often? I like it in here. Those paintings are pretty. Don't you think they're pretty?" He murmured lightly, grinning at the sights around him. He had seen painting before, sure, but Zack was easily impressed, so he grew extremely excited from everything around him. Varian was beginning to feel more and more off balance, as Zack went further from what he had been expecting. He hadn't known him long, but already he had formed a firm opinion of the older boy - that he would be loud and not care about anything in the gallery. But he wasn't acting like that...
So he just gave a muttered response, confused. "Yes, it's pretty.." Well, at least the blonde wasn't being outrightly hostile now, "And yes. Or at least, to places like this."
Though truthfully, he hadn't been to this specific gallery before. There were a couple that actually didn't mind him being there, as he was there often enough they knew him. And unluckily for the two children, a worker had just spotted them - and wasn't of the opinion that children should be in a gallery, much less without supervision.
The man didn't say anything at first, merely glowering down at the two children. Zack seemed completely oblivious to the worker, though. He really could only keep up with paying attention to a few things at a time, and this new museum place was taking in a lot of his attention. Also, his attention had to focus on keeping his voice down so he didn't notice the other at all.
"Wow. This place is really nice. Does your parent guardian figure person bring you to these places a lot? I should bring Maturin here. I bet he'd like it here. Woah, that's cool." He murmured as he pranced over to an exhibit and stared at it with wide yellow eyes, grinning. Varian was honestly beginning to find difficulty in keeping up with the rate at which Zack spoke and changed topics. Though the vain little fae had begun to respond with a yes, before he noticed the worker who was glowering at them. He could already tell that they were going to be kicked out - he'd had some experience with people who didn't like children being in these sorts of places.
Almost automatically, his expression shifted to a more haughty and arrogant one, and he somehow seemed to be looking down his nose at the worker. Despite the fact that he was more then a foot shorter, he still managed it.
"Children shouldn't be in here!"
Was the hushed yet angry voice that scolded them. Already, the worker was making shooing motions towards the door, making his intent obvious. Zack looked up at the worker, a little startled because to be honest he really didn't see the other at all. But! Living in the household he did, he usually had some sort of response for anyone who tried to push him around...since they always seemed to be doing that at home. Hmn...
He walked over and looked up at the worker. "How come kids can't be here? Are we hurting anyone? Y'know if you kick us out where would we go? Where does it say that we aren't allowed to be here? How do we know you just don't like us?" He asked, although he responsibly kept his voice low.
Despite the fact that he felt like he was doing what was right by babbling on with these questions, it hardly registered in his mind that he could be annoying the older man with said questions. Well, Shiro always told him that asking questions was a good thing...The way Zack saw things, since he was keeping his voice down and wasn't insulting the other...directly...he didn't think he was really doing anything wrong. Varian would have been very happy to verbally lash the worker, if Zack had not beat him to it. Though Zack was being far nicer about it then he would have been - of course, the other fae was most likely trying to find a way to stay inside. Varian would have just been insulting the worker in irritation; this gallery wasn't so special that he cared enough to restrain his temper.
And while a sneer curled at his lips, he had to fight the smirk that threatened to overcome it at Zack's words. Well, at least the other fae was entertaining.
The worker seemed stunned for a moment, simply gaping down at Zack. It took another moment while he blustered, for him to form a response.
"This is a place for adults, not children!" Though amusingly enough, the man didn't seem to know quite what to do since the two children were't automatically leaving. Zack only grinned up at the other in a naive way. Despite him being a little older then Varian he was still of a more naive mind because his thoughts were mostly centered in a straightforward way, and still struggled with things like other people's emotions because no one seemed to had reacted too much to them before so he didn't find any reason to change yet.
"Why's that? Is there things here that little kids aren't supposed to see? Shiro's told me that there's things that children aren't supposed to see. Is that sorta stuff here? 'Cause if there isn't why do we have to leave? My brother Maturin loves stuff like that and he's not a grown up." He paused for a moment, appearing as if he'd finished but started to question once more. "Are we hurting anyone or anything? If we were hurting things then that might be a good reason to leave, right? I don't see us hurting anyone, though. Maybe you just don't like us. Is that why you don't want us here? That's not very nice, by the way."
Again, he kept his voice respectively low as he continued to trail off in his questioning. He liked asking questions, although many of them were often left unanswered. He could only smile up at the other in an expected way, occasionally turning to his companion to smile and shrug a bit. Not really looking for an answer from the other, because if he really did have an answer he'd have spoken up about it already, right? Varian was content to simply stand back and watch the worker become so flustered at Zack. He'd been thrown out of art galleries simply for the crime of being a child too many times for him to not enjoy this. It was undoubtable that the two of them would have to leave soon or be thrown out, but it was worth the amusement value.
Before he caught sight of someone outside the window, and gave an exasperated sigh.
The one way of leaving an art gallery that was even worse then being told to leave by workers, was being dragged out by your mother. She had already peered into the window and noticed him - and by the look she was giving him, if he didn't come out there, she was going to do just that.
Interrupting Zack's flurry of words, he spoke. "I have to go. It's been...an interesting meeting." Which, with Varian, wasn't neccessarily a bad thing. And since the very first impression had been a bad one, that was a decent ending to the meeting.
After that, the blonde fae made his way out of the building, and left with the scolding of his guardian.

Quote: "Varian!"
Aletea's tone was filled with exasperation, as she gazed at the little blonde. He was currently glaring right back at her, though his expression was far more superior then hers. The two had been bickering the entire way to the office, and finally Aletea just sighed and gave up. They'd argue about Varian getting a credit card another time.
So, fixing a smile onto her face, she entered the clinic with the prancing little boy behind her.
"Hello!"Beth looked up from where she had been (embarrassingly enough) picking out wedding dresses for her "wedding". That's right. The one in her mind.
"Aletea, you're back!" she said, surprised. "Not that it isn't good to see you." she added. Peeking behind the desk to look at the new fae, her smile warmed. "Well, she's beautiful." Beth said, nodding.
"Are you here to see Shy, then?"
At the 'she' comment, Varian narrowed his eyes.
"I'm a boy!" Stamping his foot to give emphasis, he looked either adorable or incredibly bratty. Perhaps both. But then, it was no surprise Beth had mistaken him for a girl - he had insisted on wearing a yukata again today, and it was easy to get his gender mixed up in those.
"He's sensetive about it..." Aletea murmured to Beth sheepishly, as she gaze ruefully at her fae, "But yes, I'm here to see Shy."
She smiled at Beth then, an apology for Varian's behavoir in her face.
Beth blinked. "No you're not." she said, and then stopped.
Wait a minute... they would know better than she did, what gender they were, right? Nodding her head, she looked over at Aletea with a slight grimace. A brat, huh?
"Alright. You know the way, right? I'll go with you, but..." discreetly, she hid the magazine behind a folder. "I've got tons of work to take care of. And don't worry about getting lost. That's impossible to do, because of the camera system."
Oh, wait. Was she supposed to let people know that?
"I'll see you!" she said, waving.
Regardless of what Beth had let slip, Aletea missed it. If she had been paying more attention to that rather then being embaressed by Varian's behavior, she would have - but that wasn't an issue. With a wave at Beth, she reached down and took the grumpy little boy's hand before making her way down the hall.
After going the direction that she thought was correct, she peeked into the room.
"Hello?"
Varian, meanwhile, was simply glowering.
"I told you." someone growled. "We are NOT going to discuss this."
"We have to let Shy know, sweetheart."
"But Shy's not here."
"We can still--"
At the sound of the hello, both parties turned, stunned and slightly guilty. One was tall, pastel colored skin and white hair, the other with dark blue skin that took in more light than his black hair.
"Hello." the woman repeated, curious to see who this person was. "What are you doing here?"
Before Aletea could answer, Varian let out a final growl of complaint and pushed his way past her into the room. He felt very ready to complain about his guardian - she wouldn't even let him have a credit card! It just wasn't fair!
But he stopped in his tracks there, staring wide-eyedly at the two people. Normally he wouldn't stop in his tracks like that, but the odd appearance of the two captured his attention very well.
Seizing the opportunity, the guardian spoke, "I'm sorry, I was looking for Shy...I'm here to see him about Varian."
She glanced at Varian then, clearly noting who he was.
The woman was dressed in a loose white robe, kimono style almost, except without the obi. The man, in his white lab coat looked out of place-- but they were both fae, from the tip of their elongated ears to the slight amusement they watched the boy with.
"Varian, is it?" the woman spoke again. "Hello there. My name is Ae, and this is Trojan. We work here, as tutors-- to help young fae with their powers, and their medical evaluations."
Trojan frowned. Why was she wasting her words? "Shy's not here right now." he said, apologetic. "It seems that the dark court is having a field day, because their little princess wants to come down for a visit."
Ae placed a hand on Trojan's arm, as if to stop them. Did these two have any idea what they were talking about?
"Why don't you come in, sit down? Is this your first visit?" she asked this to Aletea- after all, she was the guardian. But her eyes were for Varian. How pretty.
"Yes, it's our first visit. I'm Aletea."
Varian caught himself after a moment, and grinned as he moved into the room. "Do you two work for Shy?" Perhaps he would like Shy afterall, if he had people like this working for him.
Aletea walked over as well, sitting besides him. While the little boy had been distracted, she had caught what had been said...and didn't really get it. Ah well, she'd probably have time to ask.
"We're here for a medical visit, actually. I'd been thinking it would be a good idea to get it out of the way..."
Ae nodded her head. She turned, a questioning look towards Trojan, who nodded.
"We'll get his tutors up." he said. "Every time one jar reacts, Shy starts assigning tutors to them. It's something we choose ourselves, and I know Varian's have been appointed already." moving to a sliding door to the left of the room, he disappeared.
Ae, left alone now, nodded. "It is so nice to meet another one of us." she said warmly. Moving to sit down, she paused, taking care as she eased herself down into the seat.
Varian eyed Ae thoughtfully, noticing that she was indeed a fae. He'd been so caught up by Hmm...Zack had been one too, hadn't he? Well, at least he liked her more then him! He had been too loud for the blonde fae's tastes.
"Ah, so the tutors will take care of the medical visit without Shy then? That's good to hear...I thought we'd have to come back another time."
Aletea noticed that the little boy was - well, being himself. Primping, to put it basely; though he would say he was simply making sure his hair was properly in place.
Ae almost smirked. Watching him she arched a slight brow-- but it was only out of curiosity.
"We do everything that is needed for the fae." she said, nodding her head.
About that time, Trojan rushed back in, scowling as if he had demons chasing his shadow.
Well. Sort of.
One of the fae that followeed seemed to consist entirely out of shadows. Dressed in a white lab coat that seemed to be smudged with fingerprints, he paused, straightened, and nodded his head.
"Varian." he purred.
The other was a woman. A Woman, with curves that seemed to threaten to pull the coat apart, and long hair made out of snakes. Except... somethign was wrong with her skin. Shadows chased across the surface, like...
well. It wasn't good to think about it.
Ae frowned as well, clearly disturbed by the two new tutors. "Varian." she said thoughtfully. "These are..."
((you choose the names.))
((Oh wow, Nae - these two are perfect XDXD
The woman is Dessa, the man is...Zaniel. ))
Aletea was just as uncomfortable with these two as the two they had first met were. And while her little blonde boy seemed to be in awe of the both Dessa and Zaniel, she had different reaction. And when Zaniel purred out Varians name, she had to fight the instinct to snatch up the little fae and run.
Something just didn't sit right with her, about those two...
Yet somehow, none of this seemed to effect Varian. The only emotion present on his face was one of utter fascination - these two were unlike anything he'd ever seen before. And to him, they seemed strikingly beautiful - though most everyone else likely would have been too frightened to think that.
"Hello..." he seemed a bit overwhelmed, actually.
Dessa turned to Aletea, watching her with eyes that seemed to stare with more than one soul looking out from the other side. Tilting her head, she nodded. "Varian." she murmured. "Come with us. We will..." she smiled. "Help you."
Help. It was wrong when the word was used in that fashion.
Zaniel nodded his head, and held his 'hand' out towards the younger one. Whether this was a gesture of friends, or just his way of wanting to touch the little boy... well. It was up to the viewer to decide.
Ae shook her head. She didn't like these two. They were too dark, too painful to look at. So instead she focused on Aletea. "Come." she said. "Why don't we talk while they're doing what they have to do?"
She had seen the fingerprints and faces peeking out from Dessa's skin, and she didn't trust her.
Without the slightest bit of apprehension shown by the others in the room, Varian took the offered hand. He didn't seem afraid of them at all, more fascinated then anything else...which was, perhaps, due to the fact that he wasn't a child known for common sense.
In fact, throw anything that could be remotely considered beautiful or unique, and he was likely to lose whatever semblance of it he possessed.
Aletea herself was very nervous about leaving her child with these two. But - well, they were picked by Shy...and surely he wouldn't have picked anyone who would harm Varian. So the woman gave a reluctant nod to Ae, and followed along after her.
((Of course Shy wouldn't have picked anyone who could harm Varian.
But if he was harmed, then Shy had no idea that the person he had picked was harmful!))
"Please, let us go somewhere else. I hate it inside, it's so...neuseating. And I've been craving that thing you people call pickles with some vanilla ice cream. It sounds delicious, don't you think?"
Trojan followed somewhat unwillingly behind her. He didn't mind the humans, but... well, they were a bit of a nuisance. "Why don't we sit in the balcony, and I'll get the two of you something to eat?"
Ae slid a glance towards Aletea. Yes. That would give her some time to figure out a little bit more about this... guardian. And she wanted pickles. "I don't want them sliced up, okay?" she asked.
Trojan nodded. "And maybe some cookies for yourself?" he asked the woman. He didn't think normal humans were meant to eat such a combination.
At the first mention of pickles and ice cream, one thing popped into Aletea's head: is she pregnant? That was a combinationg strange enough, that one only heard about it with the strange cravings a pregnant woman had.
"Yes, cookies will be fine," was the amused response she gave to Trojan. To her, pickles with ice cream didn't sound nearly as good as that...even though she normally didn't eat much in the way of sweets.
Another moment passed, and she glanced back at the way they had come before asking a hesitant question of Ae. "...Varian will be alright with them, right?"
Ae beamed at the cookies. Yes. Cookies sounded good too! But not with pickles. HMmm... if she wrapped them up in some kind of ham.... directing Aletea towards the balcony, the second question at her pause, look away, and blink.
Opening the sliding door, she motioned for Aletea to step in first.
"The king of the Unseelie court has commanded that his subjects help the project out in any way possible. They will never disobey their king." she said slowly, and blinked.
Crap. She was so bad at lying.
"But really, I don't think so. They are dangerous, but in the way humans are dangerous with weapons. Their gifts are just... I don't know, another form of those guns people seem to like carrying around."
Something about the first phrase gave her some doubt. Just the way it was phrased...and then she continued, with a less sure statement. Well, that wasn't quite as reassuring as she had hoped.
A weapon, huh? Well, hopefully they new how to properly use them, and had plenty of control. And then she had a bit of curiousity start, at the mention of the Unseelie court. Stepping out onto the balcony
"Unseelie court? Could you tell me anything about the courts?"
Ae smiled, nodding. Here was a subject she understood. Sitting down in one of the chairs, she leaned back, closing her eyes. "The Unseelie court, is the court of darkness. Different from the Seelie court, which is the court of lightness. But this isn't to say that one is evil and the other good. Both courts bear politics and bloodshed, they just have different ways of looking at things. Right now, the king of the Unseelie and the Queen of the Seelie get along better then they have for over a thousand years... but these are just legends."
She opened one eye. "The Seelie court are proud, arrogant. Made of light and brightness, they hurt with their brilliance the same way shadows can hide enemies. Trojan and I are from the Seelie court. We swore our alliances a couple of months ago, something Varian will have to do himself."
Varian would have to swear loyalty to one? Aletea didn't really like the idea of her fae being forced to one side or the other, though it was probably more of a cultural thing then anything else. And whatever thoughts she may have on it, the little blonde wasn't really human...for all she knew, he wouldn't mind joining a side.
Actually, cross that. He'd love being able to lord it over people, so he'd probably enjoy being on a side and mocking the other side.
Taking a seat as well, she paused to think. She had someone sitting near her that could answer all the questions that had been swimming around in her head - and as soon as she did, her mind went blank. But that's the way it always is, in any sort of situation.
"How much of his personality is who he used to be, before being reborn?" That was the one question she could remember that having. It was rather like those psychological questions of nature vs. nurture - did how she treat him really have any effect and he'd grow up to be exactly who he was before, or did it have some effect?
Aletea had to admit, she really hoped that the way she treated him would lead away from some of that natural selfishness and vanity he possessed.
Ae smiled wryly. "Most of it, and some of it." she shrugged. "Shy has this theory that when they are pixies, they have already lost most of their old memories, keeping only the most base instincts, the few qualities that really made them unique. The item that attracts them could be related to their old life, or just something shiny, sparkly. It adds to their current personality as well, twisting it, forming..." Ae stopped.
Well. What else did she know how to say?
"It's like numbers, really. Before they are this complex formula, broken down into sections, bits. Until only one or two symbols remain. The gift that attracts them, the new beginning adds new numbers until it is hard to say where the old one begins and the new one ends." or was it vice versa? hmmm...
"He'll change, of course. How you raise him, events, but..." she smirked. "He's quite the character."
Aletea couldn't help the chuckle at Ae's last comment. No matter what else could be said about him, that statement would definintly hold true with Varian.
"He certainly is. I think I'm going to sign him up for dance lessons soon, actually...it seems like the only sort of exercise he's willing to do."
Not that he was fat or anything, but it wasn't a good thing for him to just be sitting around all day. The vain blonde had refused to play with any of the toys she had bought - such as the bike, for example. While Varian maintained that it was because he didn't like such things, Aletea thought it was more likely that he didn't want to get sweaty.
So she could effect him, that was a relief. Though she didn't want him to change too much - just become a bit less arrogant, and she'd be happy. The fact that it was like a formula seemed strange to her, though - Aletea usually put a lot of stock in the more mystical approach to things, and a scientific approach was odd in that case.
"Dance?" Ae giggled. The first image to jump into her head was one of ballet, and the thought of Varian in a pink tutu had her snort.
"Did I miss something important?" Trojan asked by the door. Walking in with a tray full of food, he stopped, balancing the weight carefully before setting it down on the small tablet between the two women.
"Pink tutus." Ae responded, giggling again. "Ooh, food." reaching out, she picked up the small plate of vanilla ice cream and pickle perched on top. "Please, help yourself." she said to Aletea.
Trojan took his place behind Ae.
Taking a cookie, Aletea threw a grin over at Trojan. This didn't feel so much like a medical visit anymore, but rather like a social visit - gossiping. Not that she had a problem with that...it had been far too long since she'd gossipped about anything.
Even if it was her own kid.
"He seems to like watching ballet, so that'll probably be where he starts," was her grinning response to the pink tutu comment. The woman could picture it in her own head pretty easily, and the amusement of such a vision almost made her laugh.
"Varian throws a fit if he has to do any sort of exercise that leaves him looking bad or sweaty, so I figure he would like one where the purpose is to look pretty."
This part was added with a mischievous wink at Ae, as she took a bite of her cookie.
Ae giggled again, and Trojan, glad to see that Ae was happy nodded. Not sweating? "What about swimming?" he suggested. It didn't count if you sweated in the water, did you? "Although..." he wrinkled his nose. "The costumes people wear to go swimming do look ridiculous."
Ae reached back and punched Trojan playfully with her spoon. "Just because we don't..." she stopped, turning scarlet as she tried to change the subject. Perhaps the swimming habits of the lab tutors didn't need to be public knowledge...
"I'm sure he will be wonderful to watch. He's got such an innate talent for..." she stopped. Grace? "Looking good."
A giggle that seemed somewhat strange coming from Aletea was heard at the comment about looking good. It was true, but it definintly wasn't something most people really thought of as an innate talent - yet if it was one, Varian certainly had it.
At the comment about sweating, she gave a thoughtful pause before dismissing it. If he was swimming in chlorinated water, with that blonde hair, it would be green before long. And then he'd really throw a fit. Though perhaps she could get him to swim in natural locations...
"Actually, swimming might be a good idea - though I don't know about as a sport. Swimming pool water is chlorinated, and that has a..bad effect on blonde hair."
Ae wrinkled her nose. No, Varian didn't seem to be the type to wear swimming caps either. "He will look very pretty in the water." she said thoughtfully, and nodded. One of these days when she put together a play, he would be her little mermaid.
Trojan patted Ae's shoulder absentmindedly, almost as if he could sense that she was thinking rather sillily.
"How is he, at home?" Trojan asked, curious.
((Mermaid? XDXD...and he probably would go for it, too - so long as she didn't mention the 'maid' part >.>))
"At home? Well, he's...pretty high-strung, actually. Get's upset easily, and he's very picky."
Not that being picky was too abnormal for a child - it was just in the way it manifested. With most kids, being picky meant they wouldn't eat anything but hotdogs and Spaghetti O's. With Varian, it meant that he wouldn't eat anything that 'low-class' - and of course, his obsession with how well coordinated the house was.
"I have to admit, I don't know any other child who critiques how a house is decorated..." was her sheepish admittance to the two. And of course, there were all of the little blonde's other various quirks.
His penchant for being able to spend large amounts of money, refusing to wear jeans or shorts, only watching things like dancing or ice skating on TV...Aletea had learned pretty quickly that Varian was a straneg child.
Ae giggled at the thought. "Whatever his gift developes to be..." she said, shaking her head. Well. He would be exciting to watch, as a young fae. "He seems happy, satisfied." Maybe happy wasn't the best of words, but... it was close enough.
Trojan nodded his head. "We've never had the chance to see children fae raised- we don't have any being kept here, and all us tutors were created at the same time."
Ae nodded. "So we're just curious." she said, smiling beatifically.
Trojan smirked.
Well, Varian most certainly would be exciting to watch. Perhaps frustrating if you had to interact with him and he didn't like you, but ineresting to a bystander. And his ability...Aletea had had absolutely no idea what that would be.
She didn't even know what kind of abilities were typical of the fae, so she didn't have a clue what would be normal for Varian to have.
"That's understandable...I imagine there will be plenty of people who would like babysitters as well, if you're interested."
The last words were said teasingly, and half-seriously. Afterall, if they wanted to know what the children were like, babysitting was the best way to learn.
((Mrr, so the med report's next turn? Yay ^.^))
Ae giggled, slanting her eyes and looking at Trojan the way couples could, when they had something they wanted to share. With a half thought she opened her mouth, trying to put noises behind the words when...
"Varian, back in here please."
The shadowed man sounded surprisingly cheerful as he escorted Varian onto the balcony. It wasn't really large enuogh for all six of them. But they could manage it.
The woman however, seemed less than pleased. Muttering something that sounded like m..f..., she seemed sulky, not at her charge, but... "Why do I have to write up the report?"
With the administrative details.
Ae reached out, and the woman handed her two copies. "Shy will hold onto one, the other is for you." she said, nodding. "You don't have to listen to everything on the report, but it helps. Honest."

((*snicker* You can tell Dessa was angry.))
As Aletea read over the medical report, she had to pause and stare at a few things on there. Well, this was a bit less professional then she'd been expecting. The bit about assuring him he won't get fat came as a bit of a surprise - did he think that? He probably wouldn't have shared that with her if he had though it, so it made sense...
The last phrase confused her, however. What on earth was Dessa - that's who she assumed wrote it, anyway - trying to say?
After simply shaking her head, she directed a wry grin at everyone "Well, at least this is done with."
Varian didn't know what was written on it, it seemed, and that was a good thing - he'd have had a fit about the assuring him he wasn't fat comment.
Ae smiled, nodding. "I'll let Shy know as soon as possible... he's going to be pretty upset, knowing that he's missed meeting Varian for the first time." looking down at the boy, her smile deepened. "Now, Varian. If you ever need anything at all, let Dessa or Zaniel know, okay? They'll be able to help you out the most. In fae matters, of course."
She wondered if this child would try to get a free credit card off his tutors. Well. It woudln't be surprising. XD
Trojan nodded. "It was nice to meet you, Aletea." he looked down at Ae. "It is nice to meet the parents."
Ae smirked. They rarely had a chance. Of course, none of the other fae seemed to like humans as much as they did.
Aletea gave a quiet chuckle at Ae, thinking that while Shy was going to be upset knowing he'd missed Varian, he'd be even more upset thinking he'd missed her little dragon friend.
Of course, she hadn't actually managed to convince Akiya to join her today: he insisted that he had to watch Aurelia. They could have found someone else to watch her, they both knew, but she had let it slide. That little dragon hadn't been the most enthusiastic about the idea...
But that aside, she went ahead and shot smiles at Ae and Trojan - and avoided looking at Varian's two tutors.
"It was lovely meeting you, as well."
Varian gave a wave at the four people, fixing a smirk on his two tutors, before following his mother out of the room.

Quote: I recently began Varian in dance lessons - and amazingly enough, it seems to be the one physical activity he doesn't scorn. I should have expected that, really, since he enjoys watching ballet and ballroom dancing on television... Either way, this can only be a good thing. I actually did this on the suggestion of a fae I met at Varian's medical report - which reminds me... His tutors - Zaniel and Dessa, I believe their names were - something doesn't strike me as right about them. To put it bluntly, they make my skin crawl. What worries me even more is that Varian seems to like them! I'm worried about what kind of influence they'll have over him... The medical report itself seemed very unprofessional, and I got the impression that the person who did it was in a bad mood. But asides from that, it also was correct - there was a comment made about reassuring Varian that he wouldn't get fat, and already he's started to obsess over what he eats. Ah well, maybe I can stave it off before he gets too concerned about it... -Aletea

I'm going to kill Kayce.
That, that - that harlot! Wench, selfish little...argh! She ruined my haori, my pure white haori! And she mangled my ear!
I'm going to find a way to kill that brat. I scorned it before, but maybe I should take a look at those fighting lessons mother suggested...and there are always other options, of course.
I don't have to kill her with my fists or a weapon, after all. I'm sure I can come up with something just as satisfying, after all.
So I've begun checking books at libraries - surely one of them has something on assassins...or if not assasins, maybe something to help me take her out.
Hm. I wonder if Zaniel or Dessa can help me with this...?
