The scientist could only watch silently as things unfolded amongst the group, and he merely waited patiently for things to calm down enough for them all to return their attention to him. "Um... ... Well, then." He briefly cleared his throat before continuing. "I'm sure that everyone knows how to catch a Pokémon already, so I'm also sure that I don't have to explain that. Anyway, I've found out that these Pokémon are already here." Procuring his notes from inside his lab coat, the scientist listed them in order.
"I've found Rattata, Sentret, Hoothoot, Poochyena, Zigzagoon, Starly, and Scatterbug. Those aren't native to Unova, but Patrat, Lillipup, and Audino are." The man paused to think for a moment about the rest of what's living along the route. "I think I've seen a group of Farfetch'd flying around a couple of times, and that's about all I've seen... outside of the water and on this part of the road." Returning his clipboard to his pocket, he called his Sentret out again. "My Sentret will act as a lookout for anybody that finds something, so just holler. I'll be waiting right here." Sentret smiled at everyone as soon as it emerged from the Poké Ball. And if one took a closer inspection, the Sentret had a small patch of fur that looked remarkably similar to a shirt pocket with a pen
"And if supplies have been given to everyone, then by all means don't let me hold anybody up. I really appreciate all the help, truly." The scientist scratched his head and adjusted his glasses yet again, and smiled sincerely at the group. Sentret took this as a cue to scurry off into the tall grass, occasionally poking its head above to glance around, doing what the Pokémon does best. Meanwhile, the scientist had nothing further to say to anybody, and took a couple steps away from the group to idly go over his notes again and wait for news of anything. And while the sun was still high in the sky, it would be extremely unlikely to find Hoothoot at this time of day, unless someone started using Headbutt on the trees.

[ DIAMOND ]
Diamond looked after the scientist after he left the group with his Sentret before looking around at the grass surrounding them. Everywhere you could hear the rustling of Pokemon moving around in the tall grass, but if even Sentret couldn't tell what was in there, the humans wouldn't have a chance. Diamond figured there wouldn't be any better way to find out what was in there as well as get to know his Turtwig than to just dive in, so while everyone else was chatting amongst themselves and giving Crystal a "hold on" look, Diamond stepped into the tall grass. Immediately he heard a little rustling around him which made him nervous, but he didn't let it bother him. How much damage could a low level Pokemon cause? It took a minute or so of mindless wandering about before Diamond heard some rustling in the grass to his left, immediately pushing away the grass and gasping. What was looking back at him appeared to be either a rabbit or a Pokemon, but nothing like he had ever seen before as Christian. The dull grey and brown coloring and those great big eyes were slightly off putting, but it was kinda cute if you were a girl. Thinking like a real Trainer, Diamond pulled out his Pokedex and aimed it at the critter. a 3D image was generated as well as some info.
"BUNNELBY: Bunnelby use their large ears like shovels to dig long burrows, which builds up strength and dexterity."
Diamond put his Pokedex back and looked at the rabbit again, which scratched behind its ears before looking back at him, cocking its head to the side. For a second Diamond didn't even feel like battling it; after all it was pretty adorable. Still, a Pokemon is a Pokemon, and if Diamond wanted to see a Torterra, he'd have to start somewhere. Guess you'll do, little one," Diamond said reaching for his Pokeball. "Let's go Turtwig!" The Pokeball again broke open and released Turtwig right in front of the Bunnelby, which immediately backed up in surprise.
HP: 120 HP: 110
Turtwig opened his eyes after materializing and growled at the Bunnelby, who growled back in response. This made Diamond grin. Before he could say anything though, Bunnelby glared right at Turtwig in Leer attempt. Turtwig noticed this and didn't seem like it affected him. Diamond grinned again. "That's right, Turtwig, don't let it bother you. Try a Tackle attack!" Turtwig huffed and pawed at the ground before rushing forward at the Bunnelby, ramming into it and sending it back a few feet. Diamond had only a moment to ponder it before thinking that he would need other Pokemon to get through this game. He reached for a spare Pokeball and looked at Bunnelby before throwing it forward. He didn't think his aim was as good as it was, but when the ball opened the rabbit was transformed into bright red energy and sucked inside. The ball hit the ground and twitched. Diamond stared at it as it twitched once...twice...three times... and then broke open. Diamond groaned as the Bunnelby growled at him and Turtwig. It obviously was not happy and decided to take it out on Turtwig, rushing forward in a Tackle attack of its own. Diamond called out to Turtwig to dodge it, which the little tortoise did, impressing Diamond with its agility. Bunnelby missed its attack completely and Diamond decided to try another Pokeball. Reaching for another Pokeball, Diamond tossed it at the Bunnelby, catching it off guard. This time, Diamond thought. This time you won't get away. The Bunnelby was sucked inside in the same fashion and again the ball twitched on the ground. Once... twice... three times... *click* Diamond grinned and let out a little "Ha!" He got down and lifted up the Pokeball as Turtwig came over and looked at it. Diamond grinned petting him, congratulating him on a great battle before standing and holding up the Pokeball. He remembered the names of the species that the scientist had listed that he had found and called to him and the other Trainers saying "I found a new one!"

The X and Y trainer wasn't the only one to show up to Route 1. Shortly after Calem had came, Diamond, along with Crystal, had did so as well. The two's arrival had made Ruby noticed two things. One had been the fact there would certainly be more coming. While the other, was that he seemed to be the only trainer that hadn't brought his own Pokemon out yet. It wasn't that he wasn't hyped up about using his starter, it was just that he had a feeling something would happen, if he did release it. His own starter's release, would be inevitable however, considering they would have to go find this Pokemon.
With this much people around, Ruby would have just gone ahead and started the search for this mysterious Pokemon, but before he could, White had lashed out at what he had said earlier. The crimson-eyed boy didn't flinch at all when the girl had done it, just raised an eyebrow in confusion. He had only brought up the whole "reckless" thing, out of what would have been a concern for the girl's clothes. She did realize he only broke out of character when he was out of earshot of npc's, right? Ruby wasn't so sure about that after what he had seen, and turned to Sapphire, as the girl decided to comment on what happened before them.
"Well excuse me if I'm the only dexholder who cares about our appearance. If she rips up her clothes when we're not around a town, and I run out of supplies for my sewing kit, she's on her own." He had gone on a little rant about fashion, crossing his arms and huffing when he was done, as he took another glance at the tempered girl. He wasn't actually upset about the situation of course, but it would make sense for his character to be, especially since with the release of Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, the third generation was expected to do another arc in the adventures manga.
That meant that, if it was anything like the Heart and Gold arc, White was the younger one here, since this new arc would have taken placed before the girl's era. It did make him have to smirk at Sapphire though, when White had announced she was also referring to everyone else. The blue-eyed girl had a blank-expression on her face, although Ruby didn't question it. He knew she must have been suppressing a smile beneath her quiet tone at what happened, which was good to see. Once Sapphire had answered back, he would turn to the scientist, who had spoken out at the newest arrivals, which still was missing two more?
The man, this time, had been a little bit more specific, although still wasn't admitting what he was looking for. He gave out a list of Pokemon he had seen on the Route, most of which were a mix of third gen and fifth gen Pokemon. Scatterbug was the only one he didn't remember being on the route, even with the surf inaccessible place west of them. With a nod, he turned back to Sapphire, once he had seen the scientist had left with his Sentret. "You know, I don't think White realized I only break out of character without the npc's around. that was probably my bad." he said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.
It would have actually been reckless doing otherwise though, since there was a pretty good chance they could break the fourth wall from doing so. He was enjoying himself in this game so far, and that was one thing he wanted to avoid seeing from an npc. "Hey, Saph, mind if I fix your bandana? I would have done it when you got here, but I don't want your Torchic to tackle me and dirty my clothes." He had asked the girl once she had replied to his out of character comment, as he now once again, got back into talking like Ruby. He could see from his peripheral vision Diamond had gone off, probably to start looking.
Sapphire rolled her eyes in response to Ruby's comeback, finding it a bit funny how he crossed his arms in a huff like a child. The words ''prima donna'' came to mind though she would never say them out loud. But, looking at him, she could tell he wasn't too upset, and also knew that he would most likely still fix up Whiteley's clothes regardless, even if he acted as if he wouldn't. When he turned back to the scientist, so did Sapphire, and she listened intently with him about eat sort of pokemon were on the route. She thought absently about having to look up what their footprints looked like on her Pokedex since she wasn't prone to memorizing that information in game before. This VR game was becoming interesting, though se knew it would only become more complex from here on out. This NPC had obviously been placed here to set off some sort of event or plot line. Following through with this would most likely be vital during later gameplay, but that didn't change the fact that it bugged Sapphire to no end that she still did not know what it was they were exactly looking for.
Then the man and sentret walked off a bit, and Ruby spoke to her again to bring her out of her thoughts, rubbing his neck as he did so. Sapphire only pat him in the shoulder to show she understood and offer a half smile. She thought about telling him that the NPC wouldn't know his character's past if this was a new game and shouldn't worry too much about it, but he went right back to Ruby and mentioned her sloppily tied bandana.
She dropped her hand to the side and lifted her other one up to the cloth piece precariously perched atop her head, ready to fly off at any moment. She frowned and tugged it off, holding it out for Ruby to take, Yes, please. This stupid thing doesn't work for me. She grumped as she turned around for Ruby to tie it for her. Looking down at Helium she saw that he was indeed staring down the boy now behind her and decided to bend down to hold him in her arms to protect Ruby from his fluffy, fiery wrath. The little chick was nice and warm, so Sapphire held him close to her as she waited.
She took notice of rustling in the grass, as well as some rather noisy thrashing. Soon, though, an exclamation of joy came from the area, and the girl's intuitive instinct came into play. And hurry, I want to catch a pokemon soon, too. She said with a twinkle in her eye as Diamond's voice carried over, announcing his capture. She thought about Ruby's role, wondering if he would obtain a poochyena like his character had in the manga.
Having seen Sapphire roll her eyes at his comment on keeping their appearance proper, Ruby already knew things were still going well with her player. He was pretty sure from the comments he had given her, in character wise, might have elicited the thought of Ruby being sorta effeminate. He wouldn't deny that was actually who his character was, although with contests possibly being out of the way in region, Ruby being able to show his battling skills would surely change that effeminate demeanor. He had the perfect reference for that, and surely, his subconscious wouldn't find anything wrong, once he started.
After all, battling like this with Pokemon you could actually touch, he was sure would be something his character would feel inspiration for, especially with their seniors journeying along with them. There were plenty of strong trainers that were apart of the dexholders, with Red and Gold being at the top. Diamond would have been an interesting challenge, knowing the lore of his character, but Pearl, would have been a better one. He didn't remember seeing the blonde back in Nuvema, but if he had been here, it would have been sweet going up against someone that could recognize a skill like Psycho cut being used.
That had been when the scientist had spoken out, which shook him away from those thoughts, as he listened on the scientist's lecture. He didn't remember Sapphire saying/doing anything other than her eyeroll, so it had been pretty easy for him to focus on what the man was saying. When it had been over, and he had told the girl his out of character comment, she had given him a pat on the shoulder, and half a smile. That was progress right there with her player personally, rather than their characters. It was the only thing he wanted to confirm with her, pushing out any confusion on the matter, before he had gone back to talking like Ruby.
Even though he knew on the inside, this npc didn't know of his character's history, since the third gen heroes were from a different region, it had been much too long for Ruby to leave a mess hanging like that. He was glad to see she had accepted his offer, and carefully took the blue bandana from her hands. In that moment, he had ignored her Torchic's glare at him, and focused on his work. His character had always been careful and elegant when it came to taking care of someone's appearance, whether Pokemon or not, and had started to carry out the same notion and effort here. Whatever Diamond was doing didn't distract him.
He could hear however, the thrashes in the grass that were made, followed by a cry of joy. Sapphire had told him to hurry at this point, stating she wanted to catch a Pokemon like apparently what Diamond might have been doing. By the time she had finished that sentence however, he had already finished properly tying up her bandana in the way it should be. "There, now you look fabulous. Try not to ruin your clothes too. You know it took me ages to make that outfit for you." he had told the girl, before standing up properly. It didn't matter if Diamond found the mystery Pokemon, he still needed a proper team.
Walking into the grass himself, Ruby would grab the lone pokeball on his belt, pressing the button and enlarging it in his hand. His mind was still nagging at this possibly being a bad idea, although he couldn't really see how it would. Besides, it would be inevitable anyhow, since Pokemon were supposed to protect you, regardless of your association with the league. That meant, even if he had decided to become a Pokemon Breeder, instead of Unova Champion, he would still have to interact with this Mudkip. Throwing the ball in the air, a flash of white light appeared before him, his Mudkip long having been awake and waiting.
Seeing the water type like that, looking up at him, his first thought, was that his subconscious had been wrong. That had prompted him to bend down to meet at eyelevel with the water type, and when he had, the Pokemon tackled him with it's head. Ruby could feel it's wet fin sliding across his face, as he was knocked back. So that was why he wasn't supposed to release him. The Pokemon's nature had obviously changed to something entirely different than the relax nature it had in the manga. This would have given his character resentment at the liquid the Pokemon produced on his face, which he personally didn't mind.
That tackle the Pokemon had gave to his face however, in an attempt to give him some weird hug, that was what bothered him. The Pokemon was pretty strong for a little guy, it was like taking a sudden bear hug, which he disliked compared to a normal bro hug. "I'm fine!" he had told anyone who saw the tackle happened, before sitting on one of his knees, and picking up the water type in his hands. "Glad to see you too , Zuzu. Now, can I ask you to help out with finding another team member?" He asked the Pokemon, wiping his face with his fingerless gloves, getting rid of the water.
This time, the Pokemon had stayed still in his hands, wagging the fin on top of his head in what he guessed would have been a nod. He sighed, before settling the Pokemon down. Had to show him he could be trusted, even with the greeting Zuzu gave him. The water type had only turned around in response, but the way it did it, made it seem like it had authority over him. Mischievous, if he had to describe his general opinion on the Pokemon so far. That would be a bit of a problem, considering his characer's superficial personality. He dusted off his clothes once he had gotten up, watching the Pokemon go off in the grass.

The bandana felt nice and snug over her head, and she could already feel how neatly it had been tied. Thank you. she told Ruby politely. Sapphire looked down at her blue clad clothing Ruby had mentioned, knowing full well she would never be able to keep it clean. She kept that to herself, though. No need to get the boy worked up about it now. He could fuss over it later. Looking back up, she watched carefully as the crimson eyed boy let loose his Mudkip. He bent down to its level, and almost instantly the ground and water type lunged for his face. She jumped a bit, causing Helium to chirp uncomfortably as she squeezed him. It was obvious that Ruby was having a bit of conflict with himself over what to think about this sudden strange hug. Then e announced he was fine, quickly getting to one knee and holding the pokemon, instructing it to help him find another pokemon. When he sat the mudkip down, it went off into the grass and Ruby stood to brush himself off.
He's a bit different from you, Helium. Sapphire remarked out loud as she placed her fire type on the ground. She couldn't let Ruby get too far ahead of her, so off she marched towards the taller grass to look for tracks and maybe find a new pokemon for her team a good ways away from where Ruby was hunting. Or gain experience to make her own pokemon level up. Either way, she would be content with the outcome. As she stepped forwards, Helium followed her lead. Just as they reached the edge of the grass, Sapphire crouched lower, eyes darting back and forth curiously.
This was purely an Aza thing. Back home in Ohio she would hunt with her dad on occasion, but would only sneak around in grass like this when she was peasant hunting. Just the area around her reminded her of those times and caused her to go into a serious hunter mode. Helium once again copied her, crouching low and looking around cautiously as if ready to pounce at the slightest movement.

"You can always make new friends"
Calem walked into the tall grass with Mozilla tailing him in search of some new pokemon, and hopefully some of the pokemon tracks that the scientist was looking for. He noticed the sounds of all kinds of different pokemon cries and the sounds of footsteps from both pokemon and people venturing into the tall grass for their first new pokemon. He took a few steps forward and stopped as he looked around, not knowing what to expect from the game. He took a deep breath and continued walking until Mozilla gave off a cry as if it had found something. Calem braced for the incoming pokemon's attack, so that he could give Mozilla her orders.
"Because friends are everywhere!"

Diana nodded as Chris acknowledged her and then got to it, leaning against a nearby tree as she watched him get started. She looked down at her new partner, before letting it out to actually look at the pokemon. She couldn't tell if it was male or female, but she figured she'd be able to figure it out in a bit. She started rummaging through her bag as she tried to locate her pokedex, as well as actually take inventory on her pockets and stuff to see if it would be as organized as it was in the games. From the looks of it, the answer was a yes/no. Her pokemon came up to her and puts its front legs on hers, causing her to look down and smile. "I think I'll name you Bravo, male or female, it's a pretty androgynous name. You remind me of my pup." She said brightly, getting a chipper response back. She watched Chris as he fought his battle, smiling as he finished it. "Nice job." She said brightly, giving him praise as well as a direction for her new location.
• • • Sapphire and Helium had trekked a little ways into the grass, the top of the trainer's blue bandana the only thing visible in the tall grass. She absently itched at her arms from te grass scratching her, but she was so focused that she didn't notice this minute detail that normally would have her thinking about the realism of the game yet again. Instead, she followed her little orange ball of down feathers further into the depths of the area. Her heart pounded, wondering what sort of pokemon she may encounter, or how it will appear. Would it be aggressive, passive, lax or nervous? How would it differ from the starter she had? What would being in a real battle be like?
As her thoughts went along this path, Helium stopped in his tracks. Sapphire immediately took notice and held her breath, scanning the area to see if she could spot whatever was making the torchic pause. She soon heard a light rustling just to her right, where she and her Pokemon were at immediate attention. The rustling grew louder and louder, the grass shaking violently before a bit of soft pink showed through the green. Soon a whole head followed, blank blue eyes peeking out at them as the creature stopped nibbling on the grass as it had been a moment ago. Slowly, as if time had slowed down, Sapphire took out her Pokedex to log the being in her archives, though she already knew what it was.
Audino: The Hearing Pokémon. Using the feelers on its ears, it can tell how someone is feeling or when an egg might hatch.
Once her dex had finished speaking, she reached back for one of the Pokeballs she had gotten from the scientists. In game, she had never been to interested in Audino, but the moves like Heal Pulse and Simple beam would give her ideas for geat strategies. The movement startled the Audino, though, and the pink creature lunged forwards at her. Helium was quick on his toes, though, and took the hit for her. Sapphire gasped when the move, which looked like pound, landed on the little bird. Thankfully, it only seemed to graze him, and immediately Helium counter attacked with suprising force that sent the normal type sprawling. Thinking fast, the trainer whipped out the Pokeball, chucking it after clicking the button at the feral pokemon.
After the Audino was enveloped in a bright flash of red light, it was sucked up into the containment unit. Unfortunately, as soon as it hit the ground, the ball burst open and either half of the red and white apparatus flew in different directions. The Pokemon only seemed to become even more enraged by this and it growled darkly at Helium, who seemed a bit shaken up by the sound. Quickly, Sapphire pulled out her second ball, irritated that the first failed so miserably. She was going to catch this thing if it was the last thing she did.
This time, Sapphire pulled back her arm like a baseball player before launching the containent device with all of her might at the normal type. The Audino squeaked in suprise when the ball hit it in the middle of the forehead, no doubt leaving a mark before it was once again wrapped in red. The sphere fell to the ground, leaving a huffing Sapphire and slightly disturbed Helium to watch as the ball rocked back and forth in the Pokemon's efforts to escape. Soon, though, the movements stilled, and the blue eyed girl could only stare at the successful capture. Her first capture. A wicked wide grin overtook her features, and she swooped in to scoop up the Pokeball and her torchic. She held them both close as she spun around excitedly, practically squeezing the life out of her little bird, though she could tell it was quite proud of its battle that just went down.
Sapphire held the ball out in front of her, gazing at it in awe. She had named Helium randomly, but keeping a theme wouldn't be bad in the long run. Welcome to the team, Neon. She said to the ball as she settled down. Maybe she could take it back to show the other trainers. Memorizing the location of the footprints, she started back triumphantly to the path.
It hadn't actually taken that long for Ruby to finish off dusting his clothes, and he looked up, to see his Mudkip was staring down a Starly. The little bird wasn't actually that bad of a Pokemon, and the crimson-eyed boy knew it would be pretty tough to beat when it learned how to use Brave Bird. Not to mention how finding this little guy meant not having to look for an aerial transport, once he had fly. The Starly looked suprised at the grass being pushed away and separated by the water type's weight, although it hadn't flown off like the Pidove he woke up to. Instead, it had only jumped back to make some distance.
It's wings flapped down, and it got into a position on what he assumed was a defensive stance, likely knowing it wasn't going to leave without a fight, which would be true in this case. Although he already knew what Starly was, having played the games up to it's latest release of Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, he pulled his Pokedex out to record the information down. 'Starly, the Starling Pokémon. Starly normally travels in a flock, but when alone, it is hard to notice.' That had actually been true to it's word though, since from what he could guess, his Mudkip had to use it's fin to find the Pokemon, based on what he saw.
"Level three huh? You're not like my Nana, but you're still pretty cool." he had said to the bird Pokemon, who looked at him in confusion. His Mudkip had actually said a couple of words in it's native language, although he couldn't understand it. All Ruby knew, was that it made the Starly chirp a bit in what sounded like laughter. He wasn't upset by the chatter though, more excited really, at having his first Pokemon battle in this universe. "Alright Zuzu, try and land a tackle on it!" he had given orders to the Pokemon, who had actually gone ahead and done it, but more for itself if he could say so.
The little bird Pokemon had been able to dodge it, having a faster speed on average as a flying type, although Ruby didn't falter from the missed tackle. He was already starting to see how awesome battling was, his mind not nagging at him while he was, which he liked to think was because his character was being reminded about that passion for battling he had as a kid. Zuzu had gotten up from the ground, shaking off what dirt had clung onto his body, before he was forced to move once more. Ruby was sure the water type probably would have shot a glare at the bird, if the Starly hadn't charged and intended to hit his Mudkip.
"Zuzu, dodge that, then try and tackle it again!" He had warned the Pokemon about the bird's speed, which the water type had managed to actually dodge this time by a couple of inches, the bird falling flat on it's face. It was funny yeah, but Ruby was focused on the battle, and watching his Pokemon recover from it's momentum, before charging at the Starly once more. If anyone had looked into Ruby's eyes, they would have seen that burning passion his character showed at contests, and he was indeed hyped about his battle with this wild Starly, since their movements were as realistic as it could get with powers.
With the advantage of the wild Starly being down, and just recovering, his Mudkip was able to actually land a hit on the bird. The water type had stood triumphantly, and with the wild Pokemon busy being knocked back, Ruby was able to throw a spare pokeball at the bird. Landing with a thud on the ground, the ball had shaken a few times like it always had in the game, before it had made a click sound, signalling the Pokemon had been captured. The crimson-eyed boy had smiled like his character had just won a contest ribbon, as he picked up the ball, and stared inside the clear red and white ball. The Starly inside gazed at him.
"Welcome to the team, Jett." His character had always given his Pokemon human sounding names, and Ruby would make sure to continue that theme. His new Starly was named as such, because he knew once it became a Staraptor, it would be among the ranks of fast flying types. Jett had nodded his head at the name, which is when Ruby had let the Pokemon out. He still did need to brush and clean his two teammates, after all. His Mudkip had came back to him at this point, less hostile towards him now, in what Ruby guessed was partly payback for having taken so long to get the water type.
He smiled at the Pokemon sheepishly, which the water type didn't seem to find the behavior odd. "Yeah, sorry it took so long to come get you. Didn't think Nuvema would be bigger than Littleroot." He had explained to the Pokemon, who only huffed, before moving on to greet it's teammate. Jett was a little bit injured, as shown from his posture, but it wasn't anything to worry about for now, according to how it was talking. He remembered the pokedex had stated his Starly was Adamant, which he had taken a glimpse that Zuzu was as well. It made sense that both would get along like this.
Taking off his backpack, Ruby had pulled out his cleaning supplies, hanging those he couldn't hold from his pockets. With those safely tucked in, he had once again dusted himself off first, before lowering himself down, and tending to his two Pokemon. They had complied since they had dirtied themselves up, but had stared each other down while doing it, due to Ruby only having one brush at the moment. He could only guess it was because his character would have frowned at how reckless it would be not gently brushing his Pokemon one by one, like he was doing right now. Weird quirk, but he's starting to understand it.
Yellow had finally caught up to Chuu, who slowed to a halt and waited for her trainer at the entrance of Route 1. Smiling, she walked in calmly with her pokemon, only to stop and see everyone already there. And catching pokemon already. A bit of her wondered what she missed, if she did miss anything, but decided to think on that later. Her attention was drawn to Ruby, having captured a small bird she recognized as a Starly not too long after she arrived. "Nice catch." She commented as she approached, glancing around at the taller patches of grass where pokemon usually lurked. Curiosity tugged at her, wondering what she could find, and what she would find in this area.

• • • Sapphire was going to find the other trainers, but as she neared the edge of the grass she was in, a thought hit her. Naturally, she was competitive, and while she was amongst the area fruitful with wild Pokémon, she may as well train a bit to get a head start. Slowly she took a step back, turning to Helium in the process. The Torchic was a bit confused at the motion, but soon understood her intentions as he let out a peep. His eyes started scanning the area around them as he wove back through the thick grasses. She wondered if the grass was a specific kind, or if they made it up like they would the trees and berries in the anime and games. Everything still baffled her, to the point where she didn't understand how she and the other players could be playing along almost nonchalantly. Even after her first catch, it was as if it were only the natural thing. She reasoned it must be because of how avid they all were when it came to anything with Pokémon.
Shrugging it off, Sapphire focused on her hunt, intent on finding a Pokémon she could battle for the experience. Her fiery little pokemon, although bruised up a bit, seemed eager as well to get right back into action.
By the time Yellow had approached Ruby, the crimson-eyed boy had finally finished brushing his two Pokemon, who started to walk a bit farther away, although still in enough distance to see them. His clothes were still covered in bits of grass though, and upon hearing the blonde's voice, Ruby had quickly sprayed and dried what he could of his body, before turning around to face the girl. "Thanks." He replied to the compliment, acting like he hadn't just brushed off his appearance, even though the supplies in hand had said otherwise. It was fine though, he wasn't concerned.
Ever since he had gotten inside the game, Ruby had committed himself into playing the role of his character, which he has enjoyed greatly. The whole spraying and drying thing was one of the acts he liked performing, even though it was only necessary to do around npc's. And even then, most of them didn't even know the capabilities of his character, what with this being in Unova meant they weren't aware of his character's reputation. Regardless, he did it anyway, enjoying the experience this game was giving him, and only broke out of it when he felt it was necessary. Red being missing was one of those times.
"Red still in Nuvema?" He asked the blonde, even though a mere look around the route, and specifically not tagging alongside Yellow, had been enough to prove the other boy wasn't. Ruby had shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck, something his character wouldn't really do, unless maybe he was trying to appease Sapphire or something. This had not been the case however, as his crimson eyes had spotted what looked like the other girl some distance away, still shuffling in the grass. From what he could guess, the player was focusing on building a team already, before they had left to the next town.
Ruby had wanted to compete with her in this, but having to capture Jett who had been injured, and just having finished grooming them, that would have to wait for later. He didn't mind of course, since there were plenty of sights to see and capture in photos. When he had realized that perhaps he might have been focusing too long on Sapphire, he looked back at Yellow to apologize, scratching the bridge of his nose. "Sorry, just thinking a little bit. So I know who Red is out there, Sapphire's understandably cautious, and I could probably guess who Calem is. What about you?"
That had been a statement more than anything, the crimson-eyed boy putting his cleaning supplies away, and strapping the bookbag back over his shoulder, as he moved closer to the blonde. His eyebrow was raised in curiosity, as if just looking at her body language would help him figure her identity. The problem with that however, is how a majority of the players for this game, he had barely met anyone personally at all, which meant his efforts were futile. That didn't stop him from at least trying to establish some kind of improvement in their relationships, which questions here and there would help out with accomplishing the task.
Ruby's question caught Yellow a bit off guard. Now that she thought about it, she didn't know who anyone was in the real world beyond Red. She supposed it would just come to her as the game progressed, but she couldn't even tell who Ruby would be in the real world. To her knowledge, no one in the group cared so much for appearances and such. Not that she got to get too aquainted with everyone, just enough to know names. That and somewhat figuring out how she knew them.
"Oh, I'm Meiko out there. I suppose it isn't too obvious in here." She said with a tiny laugh. After all, she was much taller than Yellow, and their personalities certainly seemed to differ as far as openness to people. In a way, she found it nice to be this way. She felt more free.
Ruby's earlier question about Red's disappearance caused her to glance behind her towards the entrance of Nuvema. Confusion clouded her face for a few moments. He should have been right behind me... right?" Deciding not to think too much of it, Yellow turned back to direct her attention on Ruby again. "So who are you then, [out there? If you don't mind my asking of course."

While Sentret was doing its scouting, it poked its head up above the grass when Diamond called out stating the discovery of a new Pokémon. With this news, the Pokémon scurried back to the scientist, and got his attention. Soon after, he was approaching Diamond, with Sentret on his shoulder still being a lookout. "You found a new one? May I see it?" The man in the labcoat waited patiently for whatever it was the Trainer had found, and he had his notepad out and at the ready. If one could read into his expression, they might see something along the lines of excitement, anxiousness, and happiness.
Being ever so watchful of the surroundings still, the scientist took a very quick glance around the route again, and saw naught but the other Trainers going about their business, and the tall grass waving in a gentle breeze. There was a decent variety of Pokémon on the route, and the scientist now feels that he's figured out just about every one that's residing along the road with the recent discovery from the Trainer that he stood near.
