But of course they will have the basic Elementalist, Warrior, Ranger, Monk, and Necromancer. They would not be the same if they did not, plus those are usually the base for any RPG.


If I thought I'd lose you just one day...

well some are supposed to be new entirely so its gonna be kinda hard to assume that they are gonna keep the basic six from prophecies. since there are only three scholar classes which i believe are the primary spell casters of the game one of the four maybe even two will be exed completely in favor of a new class with certain similiar characteristics. plus with three "adventurer" classes (which i feel are like rangers) bring a new twist to the profeesion list once again diminiahing the professions from prohpecies. and finally two soldiers. one is obviously the warrior (talked about it in the combat section) but the other can sway to either the assassin, dervish, or paragon and of course a cross breed using certain trait from each, maybe even pooling from the warrior class for more balance (wow really lengthy lol sry)

3 Light Classes
-Nuker (Elementalist)
-Status Causer (i.e. Necro or Mesmer)
-Healer (Monk/Priest)
3 Medium Classes
-Long Ranged (Ranger)
-Melee (Assassin/Rogue)
-Support Class
2 Heavy Classes
-Heavy Defensive (Warrior)
-Heavy Offensive

I'm going to stick with Elementalist, like I did with Guild Wars..
My fiance really wants them to have Assassins in GW2. I'm not sure how likely that'll be but we're gonna keep hoping.


And I heard that apparently Monk will be completely removed as all professions will have sufficient heals of their own.

I'd say its a bit hard to come up with new classes as well as remove some because they pretty much came up with most of the basic characters..so there going to have to 'search' into the basics and think of more ideas.
Also i don't see how it would be, if they took out the healer/monk because then most of the healing spells would be self-cast, so if lets say someone lags how do they heal? I think they will have to put some kind of healer, or area heals etc.

just found this from reading they aren't having a dedicated healer class so you can probably x the monk/priest

If you read more about the "Heal and Death" topic on Guildwars2.com You'll find out that they didn't say they won't have monks. They said that instead of healing you'll be more of a support. I'm just assuming that there's a monk, but instead of heal he'll be pounding on teammates with spells that'll increase defense and offense skills, help them avoid attacks, protecting them from other spells. So don't know the monk off the list just yet.

true but monks are seen as healers ergo no dedication no monk they may put in something that is similair or combined with certain other stuff but i don't think were gonna get a class titled monk

I'm kinda of guessing they might combine the necro and the rit in some way to have an overall summoner. totally guessing at this point but the dead and the spirits are kinda in the same alley if you ask me
