You couldn't easily phase the son of Medusa. He shot the football player a mean smile and kept walking. He ignored the long string of curses the mortal spat his direction and ducked into one of the two cross halls and went to Government.
Government went by fast, leaving Lourne slightly surprised when he was released to Wood Shop. He made his way into the wood shop and pulled his table top from the shelf. Him and his partner, Adrian, began to sand the rough edges.
"That Adara girl, man, she's one tough cookie. I wouldn't put up with that a*****e." Lourne smiled to himself as he spoke.
"Dude, you've got a death wish if you're gonna try to move in on Michael's girl."
That's when another classmate walked over and addressed them. "Hey, party at College Creek, you two down?" The kid looked between the two guys. Adrian nodded, Lourne just shrugged.
"I dunno man, I might."
"The ladies want you there. There isn't a girl in the school that doesn't want a piece of you now, man."
"I'm not interested."
"That's not what you were just saying about Adara." Adrian grinned from the other side of the table top.
"Ohh. Into her, are we? She's way out of your league, boy. That girl, she's a goddess. And no one is ever gonna get a chance with that so long as Michael is around."
"Maybe he won't be." Lourne straightened up from sanding and looked down at the kid, "I'll be there." L E T S . B E . M O R E . T H A N . T H I S Lourne Kaine Eighteen . Senior Bad Boy . Outgoing . Single

Katy Perry's voice drifted through her headphones as she sat at her desk working on her sketches. She hadn't drawn another picture of Selena yet. She was almost a little afraid to... Like it'd be admitting something she didn't want to. Right now she was drawing the view of camp from her cabin window. It was close to the pegasus stables and so she put one in the background, and off in the distance was the arena. Then, even further back was the forest where she played capture the flag. Adara smiled sadly. The missed that the most. She led air assaults on the enemy team with the Aphrodite Pegasi. Mrs. Butchello smiled at the picture over her shoulder. "It's been so long..." she sighed, "Enjoy your time there Adara... It'll be the best of your life." Adara looked up at Mrs. Butchello and smiled back at her. "I know." Adara looked into Mrs. Butchello's eyes and felt at home. It didn't feel like looking at her teacher. She was looking at her cousin.
Then, the bell rang and now she was Mrs. Butchello the teacher again and went back to her desk as Lourne walked in, which made Adara scowl, reminded of what had happened earlier. She'd heard from a friend who'd heard from a friend who had watched the little display. As Lourne sat down she grabbed onto his leather jacket tight in her fists and looked deep into those sunglasses, hoping he was looking back into her eyes. It sent shivers up her spine, but it was weird... it felt kind of nice. Like those eyes were so beautiful and powerful she knew even behind the sunglasses... But she threw that off. She was angry, remember?! "What the hell do you think your doing?!" she hissed under her breath. "You're going to get yourself killed! You don't know what happened to the last guy who tried to hit on me! He had to be taken to the hospital. Michael is an over protective beast and as mean as he can be sometimes, he's also very sweet sometimes and i'll stay with him so other people dont get hurt. They'd managed to get a fire going at the creek illuminating a fairly large circle in the clearing. An open cooler with a few beers sat next to the fire. Most of them were in the hands of various kids around the fire. Most of the kids were in the creek messing around. Adara was sitting by the fire in between Michael's legs in her red bikini, leaning up against Michael's ripped bare chest. (He sat in just some swim trunks) With them was Brittany and her boyfriend, Jake, and Rachel who was sitting there pickign at a fingernail and doing most of the talking. "Oh my god, did you guys see Mr. Deer today?! He's SUCH a creepr. He was like, all overrr Jenna and looking over her shoulder and stuff. And she was just like, um excuse me, and he was like, im sorry?! like she was the one with the problem and..." Adara just smiled, rolling her eyes slightly, letting Rachel go on without really listening. A few minutes later Michael stood up, pulling her with him. "Come on, lets go to your truck. We need to talk." The girls just said bye, but Jake winked at Michael, which Adara thought was kinda weird. Michael led her to the truck and pinned her pu against it, kissing her fiercely, "Oooh baby i've been waiting for this for a long time..." he groaned. She'd parked her truck away from the camp fire so no one could see them. "M-Michael... are you drunk?!" She asked. Yeah a kid had brought some beers but Michael had only had one. "Nah baby... the boys and I, we were just hangin out before the party..." He WAS drunk! Why hadn't she noticed before?! "Mi-Michael i wanna go back to the party." she told him. "Now come on baby, play nice..." he said, nibbling on her collar. Adara pushed a hand against his shoulder. "Michael please..." she said firmly. Then, his hand was in her shirt, groping her chest. "Nah... I think you'll stay, I wanna have some fun!" he said, pressing into her. "Besides you know you like it." he whispered in her ear as he squeezed slightly. W E L L . I F . Y O U . G I V E . U P Y O U . D E S E R V E . W H A T . Y O U . G E TThe high rev on engine pierced the air and gravel snapped as Lourne made his entrance. He pulled up toward the back of the car line caught sight of Adara's truck. He kicked down the stand of the bike and turned the key in the ignition. His eyes watched the motion by the truck, and then he heard Adara's cry.
It wasn't but a moment until Lourne forced his arm between them and pulled Michael off Adara. He growled as he threw the football player into a Saturn with his one arm. The smell of beer rolled off him in waves, Lourne had to refrain from gagging on it. "You need to learn some respect." He spoke through clenched teeth and placed himself between Michael and Adara.
"Lay off, a*****e, she wanted it." Michael pushed himself off the car with a stumble. He swaggered and glared at Lorne.
"She was kinda saying no."
Michael swung at him then. Lourne ducked, grabbed his arm and pulled it behind him. He pinned Michael's arm to his back and took him face first into the gravel road. He pulled up until Michael cried out in pain. People must have heard the ruckus and we starting to gather. THis made it feel so much better, an audience for the fall of a star.
"Get off me!" Michael struggled under Lourne, but his size was no match for the strength Lourne had under that jacket.
"It's time for you to learn some manners. Women are not a property. They are human beings. And they should be treated as an equal and not treated like their a piece of trash." Lourne pulled up on Michael's arm more, the player groaned painfully. "Now, apologize to Adara. Maybe she can find it in her heart not to leave you for your impudence."
"I've got nothing to say sor-" Lourne shifted his weight and pulled further, there was a sickening pop that filled the air and Michael began to groan in pain.
Lourne rolled his weight onto Michael's dislocated shoulder, pressuring it further apart. "Apologize and I'll put your arm back in its socket." Michael murmured a pathetic apology and Lourne rolled off him. "Nevermind, I was lying, fix it yourself, jock." L E T S . B E . M O R E . T H A N . T H I S Lourne Kaine Eighteen . Senior Bad Boy . xxxx » » » Adara Williamsx❤ ✖✖✖ The Non-Bitchy Popular GirlThe rain is fallin' on my window pane But we are hidin' in a safer place Under the covers stayin' safe and warm It all happened so quickly. First, Michael was on top of her, groping her and then all of a sudden Lourne was there! He had Michael up against a nearby car yelling at him. Adara couldn't even think. She was in shock. What was happening?! This couldn't be real! Then more people showed up and she vaguely got a sense of embarrasment. There she was standing in a messed up bikini after just having been groped. She reached into her truck and pulled on her shirt, eyes still glued to the scene. Now Lourne had Michael on the ground, pulling up on his arm. Adara looked down at Michael's face. He had a look of total defeat. Slowly, after being commanded and roughed up a bit more, he looked up at her and gave her a pitiful apology. That did it. All her anger flooded out of the broken dam. She reached into her truck, taking his jeans, shirt and sneakers and threw them all on top of him, not even caring that he yelped in pain as a sneaker hit his bad shoulder. "Walk home." she ordered. "Walk home to your mother and have her fix your boo-boo." She wasn't Adara the teenage girl anymore. She was Adara, daughter of Aphrodite and a trained warrior. Adara turned and glared at the crowd, "If any of you help him, I'll find out about it, and you'll face me." she growled. He deserved what he got. Then, she turned to Lourne.
"Lourne, what do you think you're doing?! I mean yes that was sweet but I could have handled it! I mean he was- well, I could have- I mean... I-I... I-" With that Adara burst into tears and ran to Lourne, throwing her arms around his neck and sobbing into his leather jacket. All of a sudden he became extremely concious of the big group around them still. He reached up slowly and put his arms around her. "Its okay..." he whispered, patting her back, not really sure what to do. Over in the group Adrian was silently yelling at him and pointing off into the forest as if to say, "What the hell do you think you're doing?! GO!!" so he nodded and took her aside into an empty moonlit clearing and sat her down on a log, holding her as she cried into his jacket. You give me feelings that I adore xxxxx xxxxx

Now Lourne put a bit of space between them, he lifted Adara's chin up and smiled at her, "You're too pretty to cry."
He wiped away some of Adara's tears. "It's gonna be okay. He was stupid, but he shouldn't be forgiven for that. Do you understand? Think what could've happened had I not showed up. Would any of those superficial party-goers have helped you? We'll never know. But if he ever tries something again, and I find out, he won't be bothering you or anyone else again." Lourne pushed a few strands of her blond hair out of her eyes and smiled at her again.
"Will you smile for me? It's the only thing that looks right on that beautiful face of yours." Now he allowed his fingers to trace her jaw then her chin, but he quickly snapped them away.

It was the Aphrodite genes kicking in making her look beautiful and defenseless, to get Lourne to take care of her. She smiled as he told her to, his hands framing her face as he wiped away the tears. He was so handsome... Then he snatched them away, but Adara took them in hers, intertwining their fingers. "Lourne... I want to thank you for being so nice to me..." she said softly, slowly leaning in closer to him. "I mean... you don't even know me but you're so ready to take care of me at a moment's notice... You really are my Warrior..." she murmured, thinking about the myth they had written together. Then, finally her lips touched his in a soft, single kiss. She wasn't sure why she was doing all this. She should have been distraught. What was she doing? This was so unlike her... It was like the moonlight and the setting was just getting to her... Mother! Quit interfering! she growled in the back of her mind. Then, her eyes went up to Lourne's sunglasses, her hands going to the sides. "Why do you always wear these?" she asked, tapping the sides. "I want to see your eyes... I bet you have beautiful eyes." she told Lourne looking into what, hopefully, were his beautiful eyes. She tugged gently on his sunglasses, "Please?"You give me feelings that I adore xxxxx xxxxx

He shuffled his glasses back up his nose. He stumbled into a standing position and stuttered to find the right words. "Look, you just can't do that, okay? My eyes are just boring blue, so no need to look."
He rubbed the back of his neck, looking at the ground. "I'm sorry. But my eyes are off limits." He bent down and placed a hand on the back of her neck. "Go home, sleep. No need to thank me for tonight." He kissed her forehead gently, his lips still tingled from her previous kiss. It made him want more, but he couldn't have that. Getting close to people, that was just something he couldn't allow himself to do.
'Stupid stupid stupid. Why would you do that?'
.:Time Skip:.
The weekend passed and Lourne spent it job hunting. He got a call back on Sunday and scheduled an interview for the following Wednesday. He needed a job soon, he couldn't live off savings forever, maybe another two months if he was careful. Besides, he needed things, like a cell phone and food that wasn't ramen.
Monday rolled around, Lourne didn't grace Adara with a new smile then, he didn't in English either. This cycle continued for the length of the week. He figured if he just ignored her, didn't bother with her, she would move on. He couldn't be sure it would work, but it was worth a shot.
By Friday, Lourne had only just heard about the Homecoming game that night and the dance that would follow the next day. In his self-loathing he'd tuned out the rest of the world and forgotten about high school for the most part, just floated through his classes. Lourne hadn't planned to go to either, but clearly Emma, one of Adara's friends, had other plans. Friday, she convinced him to go to the dance. She said that it would upset her if he didn't go with her.
Emma agreed to meet Lourne there and they could walk in together. Lourne walked up with slacks and a button down tucked in. He smiled at Emma, she wore a knee-length loose form dress that was a light lavender color and a pair of low silver heels. She had her curly brown hair up and a dash of light purple shadow on her eyes. She looked cute, but not quite what Lourne was hoping for. AS they entered the dance floor, Emma fled from his side and joined her friends, seems she just wanted the appearance.
Bored, Lourne leaned back against one of the walls of their gym and watching the throngs of students cluster closer together to dance and have fun. That's when someone spoke over the speakers, claiming they were now going to crown the Homecoming Court. They riddled off a few of the lower choices and then came the announcement for king and queen. The gym fell eerily silent and the announcer smiled, "This year's Ponder High School Homecoming Queen is, Adara Williams!" Everyone applauded, everyone expected that. It was only a popularity contest.
The crowd shushed as the announcer cleared his throat. Adara stood crowned in all her glory with the rest of the court. She gazed out at the crowd, almost looking for something. The announcer tore open the envelope and gasped slightly. He spoke in a tone that said not even he expected the results of this, "This year's Homecoming King is, Lourne Kaine!" He attempted to be enthusiastic as a couple girls shuffled Lourne into the spotlight to be crowned, but he was certain he failed at it.
He gave Adara a weak smile as the announcer began to speak again. "Now the King and Queen will share a solitary dance." The speakers rattled as he replaced the mic in the stand and then began to play some slow song. One of the court members took Adara's bouquet and smiled at her. Lourne mentally beat himself with a stick. Then reminded himself that it was Emma who would pay.
Lourne attempted another smile at Adara and held his hand out, "May I have this dance?" L E T S . B E . M O R E . T H A N . T H I S Lourne Kaine Eighteen . Senior Bad Boy . Outgoing . Confused

xxxx » » » Adara Williamsx❤ ✖✖✖ The Non-Bitchy Popular GirlThe rain is fallin' on my window pane But we are hidin' in a safer place Under the covers stayin' safe and warm Considering her boyfriend had just been pulverized and Lourne was being an a** Adara was actually at homecoming without a date. Many guys had offered to take her but she just honestly didn't feel like dealing with it. Embarassing huh? Daughter of Aphrodite dateless to her homecoming. She was just standing in the center of her group of friends, dancing with the goup, no one on one slow dancing night of her life kind of thing, all though she definitely looked the part. Her mother had actually sent her a dress! Her mother had designed it herself and even helped make it! Aphrodite's work definitely showed, she stood out like a goddess herself when compared to the other dresses the mortals wore. It honestly look like Aphrodite had taken the night sky full of stars and weaved it together as cloth for her dress. It flowed gracefully in sweeping cascades down to the floor, as light as air and when she walked it trailed out behind her as if a wind was blowing. The fabric was a dark navy blue, like as said before, the night, or maybe more like the ocean at night, and the dress sparkled like it had stars all down it. Her hair was piled up on top of her head in a delicate style, it looked like a princess from long ago, held up by silver bands threaded through it with a few strands hanging down framing her face. Her makeup of course was applied perfectly by her magic mirror, just the right shade of lips, the right amount of mascara and eyeline, and eye shadow that matched her dress perfectly.
Then, came the time for homecoming court to be announced, of course she was queen... but... LOURNE WAS KING?! She cursed her luck as she was led to the dance floor, her eyes icy as she looked at Lourne, requesting a dance. She didn't answer but merely put her hand on his shoulder, keeping as much distance between them without it looking awkward. Over Lourne's shoulder she could see her friends smiling at her like she had done her a favor. She hadn't told them Lourne was being a douche, and now she really regretted it. The two started dancing slowly and Adara kept her face totally blank through the first thirty seconds or so until she finally had to vent some anger, "I see the teachers' rule about not making it a popularity contest finally stuck." she hissed through her smile at him. Lourne brushed aside the insult, trying to stay civilized and keep appearances. They danced silently for a bit longer until Adara got frustrated just looking at those sunglasses, "Wow you're really attatched to those damn things aren't you?! You don't even take them off for a formal dance... that's just sad." Lourne was getting angry now, but still tried to keep his calm. Adara went on, "I honestly don't see why you wear them all the time! I mean really! I can't think of one good reason!"You give me feelings that I adore xxxxx xxxxx

All at once her anger and hurt that had accumulated over the past week that she had tried to reign in had broken loose. She stopped mid step, his hands still on her waist and holding her hand he gave her a 'what the hell are you doing look.' Then she drew back her hand and before he knew what was going on slammed it across his face, letting it linger a bit at the end of the swing, watching him for a moment, enraged. The loud slapping sound echoed throughout the dance floor. All at once the crowd let out gasps and whispers, and a few of the louder teenagers let out loud, "OOOOOOOH!!'"s. Then, she turned on her heels and stormed away, a gap instantly forming in front of her to let her exit. She wasn't even crying, she was just furious, her navy dress swirling around behind her like a dark nimbus cloud, fueled by her anger. Adara grabbed her matching purse off the table by the door and slammed open the steel double doors that led to the parking long. There it was, her sweet escape. Adara walked over to the red truck quickly and fumbled with the keys, hesitating a moment and dropped them. She cursed loudly in ancient greek, not even caring if someone heard her, "DI IMMORTALES!" He scrambled to catch his glasses as they flew from his face with the force of Adara's slap. Then he registered the slap. The impact stung his cheek as he started to juggle his glasses. He snapped his eyes shut, but his sleek Oakley's slipped from his fingers and clattered to the floor.
Then the sound of the crowd hit his ears, but he drowned that out as he spread a hand over the floor to capture his glasses. All he could hear was the steady and angry click of Adara's heels on the basketball court. he found his glasses just as he heard the large gym door slam behind her. What was he doing? Being stupid, that's what. He didn't know what he wanted for sure, but he knew somewhere in the mess of thoughts and emotions he had, he felt the need to go after Adara.
He made a single motion of putting his glasses back on and jumping up to run after her. But the gap made for her closed by Adara's friends, she had a million of them. He pushed past the girls, rushing out apologies as he reached the edge of the crowd. That's when Michael stepped in front of him. He went to say something, probably thought of a witty remark for days just for this moment, but Lourne shut him up before he could barely open his mouth with a brisk right hook that took him to the ground. Lourne didn't stop moving and jumped over Michael and shoved the door open sharply.
It was warm outside, which made it easier for Lourne to catch her demi-god blood and follow it. The one benefit to being from the monster side of the plane was the sense of smell. He followed it, catching sight of Adara as she dropped her keys. She went to unlock her truck, Lourne broke into a run. As she opened the door, he slammed it shut. As she turned to him, he spoke between heavy breaths, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean that." His breathing slowed, his hand slipped from the door of her truck to her shoulder and traced down her arm. He let his fingers linger in her palm, then he returned his hand to the door of the truck behind her. L E T S . B E . M O R E . T H A N . T H I S Lourne Kaine Eighteen . Senior Bad Boy . Outgoing . A tingle shot through her skin as he touched her bare shoulder, it felt like he was shooting electricity through her skin. She closed her eyes, taking a sharp intake of breath. She almost leaned intowards his touch but then remembered she was mad at him. Her eyes snapped open, looking at him, "What is with you lately?
