Ithink they they were on some drug and found a way to put it in the disc so it would affect all players.

Astrophilia In the opening sequence of Katamari Damacy, those rotating leaves by the pandas look suspiciously like marijuana... surprised
I dunno about Katamari being a drug-inspired game, but I always thought Mario Brothers was. "Psst...eat these read mushrooms. You'll grow big!"
But seriously, I always thought the idea of roll-a-ball-of-trash-and-throw-it-into-the-sky-to-make-a-star idea seemed like some bizarre Japanese folklore.
