So many metions of oboists... are we really that dumb? Probably... heh. It's not my fault I forget to breathe! Really! Whenever I play too long I turn bright red, I mean like cooked-lobster type red, and all my brass-playing friends laugh at me. Well, our brass section sucks as a whole, so then I get to laugh at them! It all works out!

Ooh, the wrost thing? The time I was playing a solo in church, and half way through my clarinet gave a mahoosive squawk. Everyone laughed I was so embarassed redface Someone in my school once fainted half way through an oboe recital in assembly.

Eh... I've almost done that. I passed out at my teacher's house, once. I wake up and the first thing I see is Rob (my teacher) standing over me, and he says, "Is your oboe all right?" Not really huge on the mortifying scale of things, but I felt like saying it.

you passed out at your teachers house????
what were you doing at his house?

The most embarrassing thing I've done as a musician probably was the situation today at the Christmas Parade. I grabbed the wrong Bass Clarinet from school. When I arrived at the parade start and took it out, I noticed it wasn't mine. Not only that, but it didn't include a neck strap. I just thought that I'd have to carry it with my hand and it wouldn't be too big of a deal. As I put it together, I noticed that it was also missing a mouthpiece. I was screwed. So, I marched a 4 mile parade without a neckstrap and mouthpiece for the Bass Clarinet that wasn't even mine. It really sucked. I'm just glad my director was completely oblivious. whee
Another bad one was last year in Honor Band; the highest ranking band in our school. It was when I first started playing the Eb Contra-Alto Clarinet. But, unfortunately, everyone thought it was a Bb Contrabass Clarinet. Every time I played, I mentioned that it sounded odd only to get the response that it was just because it's a lot lower than anything I've played before so I wasn't used to the sound of it. I believed it. We played the first concert before we realized that it was in the wrong key. I sounded horrible. It wasn't fun.

Last year I was sitting on the very edge of the sencond riser in our band room during Symphonic band. It wasnt my turn to play so i was listening to another section playing and then my chair slipped and i fell down to the ground. Lucky my tenor sax was un harmed.
