Nobody really teased me for liking David Bowie, except maybe for my little brother's friend's dad, but I kind of opened the floor by saying, "David Bowie could eat Elvis for Breakfast" and it turns out that he was an Elvis fan.
What people do tell me is to stop spouting David Bowie trivia, because I've done so many projects on the guy, I know a lot, so when somebody says something that has a connection to David Bowie, I come in with, "David Bowie (enter what he did here)." Seriously, one time in English Class, the teacher says, "Don't talk. We're in a monestary. Be monks." So I whisper. "David Bowie hung out with Tibetan monks on a Monestary." My sister hates me for it.

My mom teases me. Except, she's a few decades behind on her David Bowie facts, so it's always something like, "Oh my god, I can't believe you like that guy with orange hair...Ziggy..Twiggy..whatever his name is. That spacey guy. He's so weird." xd
I still need to force her to watch Labyrinth. Because, in my mother's world, it must be a movie with Ziggy Stardust and muppets. She simply cannot get beyond that persona, and I have no idea why. haha.

Most of the time, people don't know who he is. I do get a fair amount of people saying that my taste in music is outdated (if they're being polite) or s**t (if they're not).
But there was one occurrence where our computer tech had come to fix my computer, and I had a wallpaper of Bowie up on my desktop. He sort of looks at it and then asks me who that is.
I tell him, and he laughs and says, "You do know that he bats for the other team, right?"
Which kinda pissed me off, but I wasn't about to say anything, because he hadn't yet actually fixed my computer at that moment, so.
And then I have an online friend who teases me about it every so often, saying that I should stop listening to "that weird old drag queen" and listen to the rap he sends me*.
And I'm all... "thanks, but no. Bowie >>>>>> your rap." talk2hand And I proceed to remind him that Bowie had a successful, five-decade career, made an excellent comeback, led, or was part of more than one important musical movement, and did quite a few other projects aside (movies, etc), while the rappers that he like have an average of 3 mediocre albums and will likely have faded into obscurity within five years (that's all they got~)
*I do actually listen to the rap that he sends me, simply because he does me the courtesy of listening to the music that I send him. Doesn't mean that I like it though.

And most of the people who don't realize that are 'tards.

Not nessecarily 'tards, but people who have only fallen into the media trap of new is best and listen to what we tell you and become predictable clones. Stupid wangsters. (I mean, if I was killed by a real gangster that grew up in a broken family with the alcoholic parent in the ghetto and he didn't really have much of a choice judging by what life handed him, but still wishes that it could be better, I would understand, but if a little snot-nosed punk who just wants to be "cool" graffittis my house, he's a dead man.) Also, the thing with David Bowie is that he has a unique mindset. He sees the world differently and portrays a different message. It makes you think, and challenges the world. Kind of like musical philosophy. Poor guy was just way ahead of his time. I just think he should have ranked WAY higher than 39 on Rolling Stones Immortals.

Heh, yep that'd be a Ziggy Labyrinth film. Is this the immortals list you're talking about: LinkI totally agree with you, David Bowie should been above U2 and Nirvana on that list.

It's actually where my habit of making just about every english assignment have something to do with David Bowie started. Hell, he should have ranked higher than The Beatles. I want to see just how they came up with the order for that list.

On my AP Government and Politics essay, I managed to work in a line from 'Station to Station' to describe the relationship between politics and media. I was absurdly proud of myself. razz
Also, any time someone in my theatre class mentions 'androgynous' or 'Bowie', everyone turns to look at me. xp

I first watched the labyrith with my mum at the age of 7. Ever since, I have been obsessed with Dvid Bowie. I allways thought I was strange, growing up idolising a man my friends new nothing about. When I would tell them about the Labyrinth, they would say things like "Whats that?" Or "Never heard of it" Im 13 Now, and when I saw this guild, I realised, I was never strange. They were the strange ones.
BLESS THE BOWIE X X X X X X
And his frizzy goblin king wig... x x x x x x x x x

I never gotten razed for liking Bowie... But one time I told my friend that I could sing like him and she gave me a really odd look. That was either because she had no idea who I was talking about or the fact that I was a 10-12 year old girl.
I can mimic singers very well, thank you very much cool I do a very smashing Morrissey...
