Veroen silently nodded to Medb when she waved to him. He was used to her bubbliness by now. She always seemed in such a good mood, no matter the situation. He sighed at her words, which were a little loud.
'She is sometimes too reckless...' he thought to himself, somewhat shaking his head.

He looked up and slightly smiled, though it may not have been visible under the mask that he breathed through. It was constantly pumping gas into his system that kept him in his form. He was used to wearing it by now. It had been a long time since he had developed it.

He stared at her for a moment, then realizing the human must be close by. He only had just enough time to prepare himself for the unseen vial. It made an explosion, barely a second after Veroen put up a shadow barrier around him. It had the appearance of a transparent darkened glass globe around him. Once the explosion subsided, the barrier disappeared. Veroen had not moved an inch. The shadow that made up the barrier slowly dissipated, as he silently watched Medb shake the unconscious human assassin.

He silently continued to watch her shake him until he awoke. He found no reason to interfere with the human. He had attempted to harm him and Medb both, but he did not succeed. He found no humor in the situation, as he listened to Medb rant about eating him if he didnt wake. It made no difference to Veroen if she ate him or not. Part of him wished she would, just so she would stop ranting about doing it. He closed his eyes in slight annoyance, thinking that there were more important issues at hand.

He opened them in time to see the human trying to get away from Medb. He watched as Lassan attempted to punch Medb in the stomach, while holding a knife. He slightly found this amusing. To trifle with a Demon Lord, was a foolish thing to do. He continued to watch, now realizing that There was yet someone else who was coming in their direction. And by the sense of it, by horseback. Not a normal steed, this one had wings.
'Odd..' he thought to himself.

He silently watched as the one riding the flying horse landed, and attempted to smash Medb with the horse. Then he smelled it. This was stupid. He should have known that the explosion hadn't been large enough to really fit the size of the vial. His eyes flashed, as he quickly made his move.

He moved with heightened speed, using his black angel wings as a sort of speed amplifier. He moved 2 feet in front of Medb, shadow gathering, already forming a barrier around the two of them. He grasped his sword with his right hand. The sword grew dark, ready to be drawn by its master. The explosion went off, but Medb as well as himself were well protected. The barrier stayed up, for Veroen did not know what could happen next. His eyes slightly narrowed as he continued to grasp the hilt of his sheathed Sword of Karlifax. He stared at Raven, keeping his eyes on the oncoming steed as he did so. His figure towed over Medb, having an intimidating look about him. He silently continued to stare at Raven, waiting for their next action.

((Hum... Now that post I can use. Thanks Veroen.))

Raven wasn't the greatest battle mage ever, but it was hard not to react to the giant explosion. She hadn't been gathering energy for a shield so the best she could do was cover her head and hope for the best. Thankfully her steed was battle hardened and backpedaled away from the explosion with an unworldly battle roar. Bits of earth and glass flew at the two, slicing the two as they flew past. Nothing fatal but it sure as hell scared Raven, who screamed at the top of her lungs to add to the Nightmare's cry in a confusing muddle of fear and challenge.

When the dust cleared Raven found herself pressed low to her mount's mane. The ruby at the top of the staff nearly glowed with collected power, probably from her fear of being blown up. Naturally her Nightmare stopped several feet before actually hitting the screaming Demoness due to the explosion. Raven found herself staring down a rather pissed looking Demon lord. She would rather not face someone who's battle skills where probably a good match for hers, and she looked for the right words and perhaps a decent demand to draw him away.

The clash of steel on steel not so far off told her the battle had started... Perfect.

"Call off your a-armies!"

She shouted in her squeak of a voice. Her mount seemed to almost laugh at her stutter by shaking it's head with a huff. Just for dramatic effect Raven raised her staff high into the air, as if preparing to call some force of nature to strike the lord where he stood... That being entirely possible for her to do, she thought it was a good enough threat.

Lassan was saved by a stroke of luck, when Raven's horse backpedaled away from the explosion, which his horse was running from.

Saved from the impending stampeding, Lassan drew himself upright and managed to seat himself on the saddle.

He pulled the reins and stopped his horse in it's tracks and looked back towards the demon lords. "Raven, you can handle this, just don't fail. You know what happens when you fail the emperor.

Digging his heels into the side of his horse, they took off towards the battle, heading at an angle to arrive at the rear of the army, where he saw the demon commander.

Alasdair

PostPosted: Wed Jun 18, 2008 5:43 pm

Alasdair had hurried off the portal once named Resarak, he headed towards the ruined city of L’enlor Imaral. As soon as he was a good distance away from the portal, he felt his powers unleash. It was a good thing he had been in the bar because he was completely full of energy. Enough to be able to fly to the battle and inflict some major casualties to save some demon lives.

Now the demon lord had a particular way of flying, he did not fly with wings or with the manipulation of wind. Alasdair used his magic power to fly, and his magic power was to use the energy his body absorbed from the energy wasted in the atmosphere and create raw energy from it. He flew by using that raw energy like thrusters emitted from his feet and his hands were used as stabilizers, with short bursts came from them. ((Hmmm…I guess it would be like Iron Man))

Now the demon lord zoomed towards the battlefield, his hair and long cloak flowing rapidly with the wind. In a few moments Alasdair was already flying over the back lines of the demonic army. And as soon as he had seen the back of the army, he was had seen the front lines, with the two races in heavy attack.

Now that he was over the battlefield, energy was no problem for the demon lord. All the energy he wasted on his abilities was replenished by all the energy that was being wasted in the battlefield. The energy from flying was now being replenished, that was why he rarely used that method of flying. It took a high amount of energy out of him, but the two thousand soldiers would recharge him quickly.

Alasdair stopped in mid air, and straightened high above the battle field. Now only emitting low propulsion, just enough to keep him stable at his height- he was around a hundred feet in the air. His crimson eyes looked down on the battlefield and smiled. He outstretched his hands in the direction of the humans and concentrated the energy that was entering his body into attack.

His attack where five pillars of raw energy, violet and black where the five foot thick pillars that erupted from the ground away from any demon that might be affected by the attack.

[[No problem, wolf]]

Veroen said nothing to Raven as she raised her staff after commanding Veroen to call off his armies. He sensed that Alasdair had entered the area as well, obviously to go off and help with the battle at hand, which is probably what Veroen himself should be doing. Instead, he stood here, protecting Medb, and looking at this somewhat humorous girl that seemed to be some sort of mage. He found it amusing, though it did not show on his face. He stood up straight, not taking his eyes off her. His barrier did not subside either. He stared at her through the transparent barrier of shadow. He then closed his eyes, deep in thought of whether or not to spare this girl. She was foolish to challenge multiple Demon lords by herself, while her Assassin friend fled from the area. He chuckled out loud, as the barrier subsided. He looked at her, with curious and amused eyes of darkness.

"We demons are not the ones to blame for this battle. Your human superiors are. We are simply defending ourselves from your endless onslaught. If you wish to challenge me..."
he trailed off, staring at her staff, "...I think it would be in your best interest to rethink your next action." he said, his voice growing darker, as his sword began to glow in a dark way. It was longing to taste the blood of yet another human. Veroen hadnt killed one in quite some time, and the sword seemed to hunger for it. He was willing to avoid killing a human if it was possible, though he was also more than willing to kill one if needed. He silently stared at the girl, a serious expression on his face. His figure was tall, for it nearly matched that of her Nightmare steed. He silently waited for her reply.

Another stir of powers.. Another demon lord. Suddenly it became urgent that Raven hold these two here. Lassan was being stupid thinking she could hold off two demon lords! Especially after he himself could do little more than blow himself up like an idiot... How the hell did such an incompetent alchemist ever get such a position as the emperor's personal guard. Whatever. She had to hold these two here now, for the sake of so many soldiers lives.

"Well... A challenge it is."

She seemed to have lost her stutter now that Lassan was gone, the adrenalin that accompanied the oncoming battle might have helped too. She called on the power in her staff, shadows gathered around the demon lord leaped up to grab at his eyes and blind him, temporarily but it was better than nothing. Then she cried something in a long dead language, and fire roared to life in her hand that she flung it towards the demon lord with a battle cry.

Veroen stood still with no expression as the shadows began to engulf his eyesight. He smiled as it attempted to do so. He looked at her, and made no attempts at expression as her shadow attempted to engulf him. His Tattoo on his right shoulder glowed as the shadow suddenly disappeared. He was the Lord of Shadows. No shadow spells could do anything against him. As for the burst of fire magic, well, that might have. He closed his eyes, as he drew his sword, which trailed shadow, like a comet would. He watched the fire that she commanded hurl toward him with great speeds. He closed his eyes, and simply disappeared into a flash of shadow, as the flames flew past where he was. He was now out of sight. Shadow began to form above her, and it quickly formed into Veroen, as he looked down at her. This was a foolish movement on her part. He began to manipulate the shadow with his mind, making it form around her body, slowly beginning to seep into her skin. He watched with amusement as he toyed with her.

[[gotta get off. will be on tomorrow. Sorry wolf.

(( that's cool. Life before RPing and all that jazz ))

Raven bit her bottom lip in concentration as the Demon dissapeared into shadow. Fine, if he was going to wield shadow, she could certainly give him a fight using light. She was more well versed in shadow, but Light wasn't a stretch for her natural talents. It took her a moment to find him again, directly above her... oh god... as she felt shadow creep up to her arms. Raven shivered she pulled on the power that animated the shadows to fuel her own spell. The shadow still pulled on her skin as she gathered light in her hands. She pointed it directly up at the demon.

"Bragol Galad!"
"Sudden light!"

Raven let out a terrified cry and the light lashed out towards the demon overhead with a peal of thunder to deafen ears. Her Nightmare mount bucked and roared a battle cry in protest at the sound. She hated to imagine what any normal horse would do.

Halfway towards the leader, the Alal seemed to sense his presence, and Lassan grinned.

"Gone to the astral have you? Well two can play at that game."

He waved his hands in several mystic passes, passes that would do n othing if one were not a wizard, and disappeared from the physical realm, appearing on the astral.

The Alal was hiding, attempting to save itself by running away, but it did not know that Lassan could follow it.

The demon gave out a cry of surprise as the horse thundered towards it, and the blade cut it down, dying in an instant.

He wheeled the horse around, and found the other demons lords. They would not die on the astral, but they would be hurt, so he found where they were, and began charging.

    || Now that I've finally made time to post more than a paragraph that'd suck compared to everyone else's posts, I'm uber behind so I'm just going to be a little behind in the beginning of this post and by the conclusion of it, Medb will be all caught up. ^^ By the way, this is Simi's mule. I was too lazy to log onto actual Simi. ninja ||

When Lassan awoke the demon did not so much as flinch upon him awakening, that was, until he brought out his stupid knife to stab her. Naturally it would be an annoyance but her skin was thicker than that of most demons so she'd lose far less blood than any normal demon would. However, she didn't even have to bother herself by worrying about being stabbed for her reflexes and speed were astonishing seeing as she'd been a veteran for years. She easily grabbed Hassan's wrist as though he were a small child reaching for a cookie within the cookie jar and gave it a hard smack to discipline him. "Bad assassin! No stabbing Mebd!" she shouted at him in her strange manner of speaking, in first person.

Her yelling was short lived as a panicked human apparently decided to have her horse with wings charge at her and Medb, while she could take the blow, didn't particularly want to take it and bust a rib or two. She bared her fangs at the beast and unleashed an inhuman cry of anger all the while holding onto Lassan's hand. However, she quickly let go of his hand when he decided to flee from his explosion and as she was preparing to take on her demon form to fly away from the huge explosion and the night mare, Veroen shielded her with his magic. "Thanks Veirrie!" she chirped from within the barrier and once the explosion was over with she smiled to him.

Apparently, though, once Veroen's barrier receded, everyone decided to leave and ignore her so she was left to herself yet again. Though the humans were attacking her demonic kin, she'd been one of the council members to reject the idea of having the demons go after the humans full-force. However, other Demon Lords had been concerned by how many humans were wandering around in Ter'lanlar and in fear that the humans would discover their homeland portal, they'd rallied an army within days. Medb, though childish in appearance and attitude a lot of the time, did look out for her people and though she loved battles she believed that this battle would cause unecessary casulaties to the demons as a whole.

Unfortunately for her and many demons that would soon become casualties, she'd been outvoted and the other demon lords had been in favour of the battle so she decided to keep out of their affairs. Medb was loyal to her people but if they were fighting a battle that could be better won by tactics that were not so rash then she would not take part in a full-scale attack of such magnitude. Such fools, fools were the council for initiating this attack and many innocents would perish all because Medb had been outvoted though she was often known for her risk-taking tactics as a demon lord.

She then snapped out of her thoughts and noticed a huge pang of thunder that'd come from absolutely no where, which likely meant there was a mage somewhere. Medb inclined her head toward the sound and surely enough it was that girl that'd tried to run her over with her horse attacking Veroen. Yeah, Medb knew that he could handle himself but she decided to help out anyhow, still not being a serious veteran that her people knew her to be. "Bragaa Gla-what what?" she called out after the deafening roar of thunder was emitted. She then turned to Veroen. "Hey Veirrie, you should watch out. Everyone knows that after thunder lightning comes and the mage probably wants you to get hit by it."

Veroen's eyes flashed open with complete surprise. The light began to burn his exposed skin with a hot intensity like no other. He said nothing, for he was well above the level of subduing to pain. He narrowly dodged the ball of light that was shot up at him. the result of the light was, however, greater than he'd originally thought. It left his right shoulder and face slightly burned. He was now still in the air, closing his eyes as his tattoo glowed and slowly began to use the shadow to heal his skin. His connection to shadow was great...It was one with him in more ways than one. He looked at raven, and looked over to notice that Medb decided to join the fight. He stared at her for a moment, wondering what her attacking action would do, and answered her statement with a quick nod, turning back to Raven with the expressionless stare that he always had. He closed his eyes again, and shook his head slightly. This was becoming a nuisance. He decided to stop toying with her and fight for real now.

He gripped his swords tightly, and whispered something in a demonic voice, a spell.

He then pointed his sword at Raven with eyes that turned into black pits of shadow. Then a bolt of shadow spew forth, aimed directly at Raven. As it plunged through the air, it seemed to warp everything that it passed, turning it into dark, lifeless shapes. There was no telling what it would do to Raven. It was fast, and heading directly at raven with almost impossible speeds. It would either hit her, or her steed. He watched with slight enjoyment, wondering what its effects would be on a human.

Raven's eyes slammed shut at the brightness of the light, and the lord's lack of scream went unnoticed as she screamed out her fear, loud enough for the both of them as the light burned the Demon. When the light faded from her spell she opened her eyes to find him chanting. Chanting was bad, it was something Raven did when she was amping up for a really big spell.... Ho damn.

Raven froze in place like a deer in a headlights.

Fortunately her mount didn't. The nightmare reared up on it's back legs, without a saddle Raven fell off the huge warhorse of a mount onto her butt, her staff clattering to the floor beside her. The lance of shadows that was meant for Raven hit her nightmare dead on. The fall seemed to jog her brain into action and she screamed out a counter-spell.

"Dagnir En Daes!"

"Bane of shadows!"

Raven held out her hand and light erupted from her palm to engulf the screaming nightmare along with the lance of shadows sent by the demon lord. She didn't know exactly what the Demon lord did to her mount so she couldn't counter what he did directly. All she could do was hope that spell would ward off the worst of whatever he did.
