Food was rather foreign when you compared its place in Jelena's life to that of someone else really. The woman practically lived off of donuts and coffee half the time, the occasional full meal. No she preferred the able to run down the hall with it half hanging out of your mouth or clutched in your hand foods. "Sounds good."
A smile over to Joey. "Thank you Joey, see you next times." Taking the various scientific journals and magazine she walked off with James to grab something to eat. She settled on a sandwich shop out of habit for those easy to run with foods. Idly she looked through one of the magazines before handing it over to James. Was a rather slanderous article about the entire Fleet, with pictures, names and everything. "Would you look at that. These people babble about what they can't comprehend and make it sound like some cataclysmic thing."
Jelena sighed before looking to him again. "So, what had Catalyst been up to with you lately anyway. You seem rather annoyed with the Project."

He ate a snadwich, looking at the article, and chuckling some.
"Rennel is now the 'fourth rider of the apocolypse' and supposed to ride one of your dragons to 'scourge the earth of opposition'. where do they get this."
Then a look over to Jelena.
"they first overloaded the systems by trying to tap into my cannon while I was asleep. then, after I got upgraded, they wanted to hook me back up to thier equipment and see if they coudl flood my boddy with more energy to use me like a battery in case power did go out, like a storage unit. They seem to forget that just becuase I generate an excess of bioelectricity, that doesn't mean I can absorb great amount of it."

"Seem to forget that you're also still part human. And frankly the thought of you as a battery is most unattractive." She idly ate her sandwich as she flipped through another one of the bad propaganda containing magazines. "Oh look at his. Supposedly an anonymous person had the privilege to see 'what you're made of'. And look! Diagrams!" She folded it in half and showed it to him...it really was absurd and highly inaccurate.
She pointed a finger to one spot on the diagram. "Apparently this is your self destruct button." Jelena laughed again. But really you look all wrong. I mean, look at your hair...it's much too long." Yes, it was very bad propaganda, but then again people would believe anything if you could give them a picture, even this day in age.

James looked it over, and grinned ever so lightly.
"Not only highly inaccurate..by physically impossible. According to this, I generate enough bio electricity to hurl 'lightning bolts' from my hand...oh and lets not forget..hmm..well skip that. not even worth mentioning. this is even more amusing anyway. apparently my cannon is an ionic plamsa pulse discarge cannon, capable of rendering all electronic equipment in the local government useless. nevermind the fact the smallest version of one of those is about fourty feet long and mounted on a battlecruiser. And I don't recall ever having my heart replaced and having that self destruct mechanism put in. wow. I'm supposed to be a walking nuclear bomb. that device is supposed to be four ounces of plutonium."
A look across at her.
"You know, the least they can do is try to be realistic."

She feigned surprise and shock. "Why James Moira...you never told me you had a battle cruiser cannon in you! And here I am all these years, creating 'God consuming beasts of one's nightmares' when you were here all this time for me to manipulate and easily conquer all of Earth and known space, really making myself God. Boy did I waste my time." Jelena rolled her eyes and finished off her sandwich, minus the crust, and propped an elbow on the table, resting her chin in her palm. "You know, it's a good thing they don't have any real photos of us except for head shots from records. I'm glad for the badly doctored photos in these things."

"Good thing so many believe this trash. it's probably what keeps the government dogs from trying to overtake this place through some loophole or another. figure they try it and us demigods will crush them under our mythological and bionic bootheels."
Another look at the skematics though.
"Though I wouldn't mind the 'throwing lightning bolts like a biomechanical Zeus' thing myself."
The magazine got tossed down, and the sandwich finished off.
"Anything in those about what happened to your new assistant's father?"

Jelena rolled her eyes and flipped through the pages to the different sections. "Of course you wouldn't. You could easily zap those lazy fellows who are late for their appointments. That would get them moving for sure." She let out a laugh. "Even I'd get up and clean my office and keep it clean if that were true."
A few more flipped pages before she stopped and folded it in half, holding it with one hand, reading out loud. "Proclaimed scientist Dr. Bradley Nikkco, was hospitalized at the start of the week. His last known status shows that he is currently in ICU and is remaining there until he is proclaimed stable. His illness came on suddenly and without warning. Though no official word has been given on his aliment, due to the word of his wife, Dr. Jacklyn Nikkco, as well as his daughter Lilia Nikkco. Sources do indicate that it was a heart problem, caused by his daughter's recent acceptance into the R.E.I.I.I. Star Cruiser Fleet Projects." She slapped the magazine down on the table. "How dare they blame Lilia like that."

James leaned back a bit in his seat.
"So her father had a heart attack when he found out his little girl was going to join the very thing he's been fighting against. and then she went home like a good little girl becuase he's family. admirable of her. I've known several who'd have let him rot."
A grin at her.
"You know, maybe I can work with Catalyst, see if they can set that lightning bolt thing up.."

She crossed her arms and shrugged. "That's what they say, but they would say anything to discredit the whole Fleet in one fell swoop. And do remember these are the same people that turn Rennell into a Horseman and you into a walking bomb. Show me medical reports then I'll believe it...and I doubt Lilia coming up here did anything."
Jelena raised an eyebrow at him then gave a smirk to him. "More likely they'd play too much with you and really shut power off for more than only a few minutes at a time. I'm sure that would be fun, now wouldn't it?"

"You know. I can probably hack into his medical files or if I'm lucky the equipment he's hooked up to if you really want to ascertain his medical condition. and yes, I realize that...I still find it a show of good character to be willing to go to him even if such was not the case."
A shake of his head nad resting his brow on his mechanical hand.
"No doubt. next thing I'd know you'd have me plugged into a powercore because I'd somehow been merged into the main power systems because of some damned experiment while I was sleeping. Or they'd overdo it and I'd end up on the workbench becuase the first attempt at using it would fry half my biomechanics."

She shook her head with a smile. "You and you're hacking. Though I don't doubt your skill, I would prefer you don't hack in that direction this time James. I'm sure Lilia is capable of handling this and I'm sure that she'll also let us know that all is alright. Perhaps she'll drop a line to someone's e-mail or the Fleet website itself."
Jelena cocked her head at him with an odd look. "James as a battery of sorts. No, nope I don't like the idea. Besides, with you stationary who's going to chase the rest of us down to remind us of appointments and to pick up after ourselves? Or to help us when we have all of our various issues and are loosing their minds while you keep a cool head. I like you better as not a battery."

A chuckle from James. dear lord the man does have a sense of humor.
"Of course. I'm the one that keeps this place running on all cylinders, nd helps you all through your weekly mental breakdowns or panic attacks or lack of concern for appointments that are needed to make sure you stay alive."
A slight nod.
"I have no doubt she will. She's not the kind to leave you with no information. So no need to hack into that system. Though I won't say there isn't a part of me that would love for it to be something serious enough to require a bioware surgery. for a little poetic justice to throw thier way."
A moment of thought to himself, a slightly heard whirring of components in his head, similar to the sounds a cd makes when loading.
"I wonder sometimes though, what might have been if I'd not volunteered for this. if I'd stayed completely human."

"Now now, don't suck up all the credit there James. You know very well that it's Dr. Fein who keeps our mental break downs in check, what with her random summons and all. Come to think of it, I could use a session with her, helps with the stress you know."
Jelena couldn't help but smile. "Poetic justice indeed. Though I sometimes think if one had the choice to die relatively young, for these times, or to live with a little help of bioware and nanomachines...those stubborn people on Earth would choose the death, completely ignorant on the ripple effect it would cause for family and such."
She tilted her head again at him with that questioning look about her person once more. "You think if you could go back then you wouldn't volunteer?"

"Not sure. I like how my life is now. I'm not complaints. But I wonder sometimes. if i was completely human, would I still serve in teh service now? would I perhaps have found someone and settled down, had a family. Most women now see this arm, and my face..and that's all. I'm like frankenstien to them. gets..depressing sometimes."
A bit of a tracing of one of those mechanical fingers on the table.
"some times I think..I might not have done it. but most times..I'm proud that I have."

She reached across the table and gently popped him in the arm. "Oh come now, no they don't. I mean, I know I don't. You just have to stay away from those overly bubbled headed close minded idiots of the world." She laughed slightly. "Word as I've heard it is that you're quite the attractive man under your clothes as well."
Jelena sighed gently. "I'm glad you're proud though about it. I mean we all have those moments. Sometimes I wonder what it would be like if I gave up after my first massive dose of ridicule. I was basically laughed off stage at a conference because of my proposal of the Echoes. But you have to take hits sometimes. And hey, I have my share of man trouble too."
