Thanis sees the field beginning to array properly... at least as proper as the shoddy troops can. All players should roll spot if they have a chance... (something's happening new).

Sursqueek goes along the infantry lines to make certain that the longer range weapons are closer to the back and the shorter weapons are in the front. He keeps a vial of acid ready with his sword drawn.

Jogging up to the group with an beautifully crafted crossbow in one hand and several quivers of bolts on the other. "Sorry I'm late, took me forever to convince Senka to stay in camp as backup. Took even longer to convince her not to send Hunapo with me. So, what did I miss?"

(hey stuff is happening....thats unnexpected) Thanatos watchs the troops move into their postions, and array themselves into their formations. Confused as to why they are following different orders then the ones he has given them Thanatos rides over to the other generals and proposes that only one of them gives out commands, so that our commanders will not be confused.

Crossing the field towards Thanis is a roughly man-sized shape with its hands held high in the air. As it gets closer, you begin to make out specific details. For example, the colorful patterns of scales that range across his body, or the webbed hands that end in claws. The finned tail that snakes out of his lower back. The simple, wooden blowpipe that hangs on a string from his neck. The still living anaconda that he has draped around his shoulders. Those of you who have heard of the lizardmen before recognize what the newcomer is straight away. After all, the scales are sort of a giveaway. He approaches as close as you will allow, then comes to a stop and introduces himself. "The dwarves thought that you all could use another tactician. They didn't have any to spare, so they sent me, instead." He shrugs, almost dislodging the snake. "The name's Lloish, if you can pronounce it. Or Loy. Or Ish. Doesn't matter much to me. I just hope I'm here in time to do some good." ...conditionals... 1) If the party doesn't accept him right away, lloish will stay put, looking miffed. "Alright. I can stay out here for a bit while you make up your minds, but I'm feeling awfully exposed." 2) If they do accept him: "I figure you guys could use a caster. I'm not too much of a commander, although I could probably lead a few archers. I'm a lot better with magic, however." 3) If he heard Thanatos' comment, then: "Far be it from me to dictate strategy, but you raise a good point. We should probably have one commander in charge of overall operations. I think the other generals should attach themselves to squads. We might be able to put this raggedy army into something like order that way." ...... (Hey, all. Looks like I'm finally back on gaia. Hope you don't mind me joining the campaign just as things are getting good.) (If you're interested, my character's profile is here: lloish pah CS)

As Thanatos explains his proposition to Sursqueek, he explains that he thought the infantry would fight best in front of the archers. He also states that though some of them might make good eating, impaling the archers on sticks was not a good idea as he motions to a rather scrawny fellow holding a piece of parchment riding a mule. He is poking the archer captain with a stick.
Then, assuming Lloish is close enough, he proceeds to greet him with interest. Literally. "Interesting! Interesting indeed! I've heard of creatures like yourself! is it true that you can travel on massive stone thrones lifted by the magnificent telekenitic powers granted to you by ancient beings, which you of course could use to halt and terrify our enemies into submission? Not that I've ever seen anything like you before mind you. If you do have access to any old or ancient scripts, perhaps you could share your wisdom? " Sursqueek has already whipped out his book and then pauses. "Perhaps we should wait until after the battle..." He then puts his book back and pulls out the sword. "I sincerely hope that they brought books with many a word that I've not yet heard, since collecting them is sort of my hobby, but I don't know if hobby is quite the right word since I seem to spend more time reading than doing much else, so then the right word might be "life" but my life is already dedicated to the Under...um...er...uh... to the...*cough* you know...place you usually dedicate lives to."

lloish doesn't seem to notice the cough and the quick recovery, but his familiar does. The anaconda makes a gap-jawed lunge towards Sursqueek, coming up just short with a massive snap.
"Ne Pah!" Lloish berates, "Where are your manors? Rodents are only a sometimes food!"
He turns back to Sursqueek, with an expression of what is probably apology. Reptilian features are sometimes hard to read. "I'm awful sorry about that. He hasn't dined on anything bigger than he is in a while, and that tends to do regrettable things to his temperament." He then pats the snake lightly on the side.
"As for your questions about stone thrones and tele...something or other, those might have to wait for a more convenient time. And I don't have any books or scrolls, either. Just what you see," He gives the Scaven a critical eye, thinking that if he did have a book to lend, he might not see the rat-man again until the combat was over. And even then, he'd probably still be paging through the epilogue.
Finally, he turns to Thanatos and says: "You seem to have a keen grasp of tactics, and we have a little time to discuss strategy in. As I am a caster, I might be able to do a few critical things on my own that I would not be able to accomplish were I part of a unit. With your permission, I'd like to station myself in the center of your camp and get a little elevation on my surroundings." Reaching into his belt pouch, he pulls out a spyglass. "I might be able to help you out with a little intel."
...conditionals...
1) If Thanatos is okay with that particular plan, lloish will proceed to the center of camp and order a small (five feet, maybe) dais built from crates, overturned carts, whatever is at hand. From there, he will scan the forest with his spyglass for signs of the approaching army (spot+7+spyglass modifier, whatever that is. I'll take 20, if there's time.) He'll then relay any important information to Thanatos.
2) In the time before the battle starts, Lloish will propose several ideas for casting support that he could implement. They include the following: create water at a distance to drench enemy bow-strings, entangle + plant growth for rampant root growth throughout the enemy ranks, faerie fire to outline any leaders he might spot, fog cloud to mask a retreat or flanking maneuver, gust of wind to pin advancing units or to guide archers arrows (might be the only way to use them effectively), soften earth and stone to turn the surrounding area into quick-mud, or finally hail storm + withdraw army + generals fight on using hit-and-run to demoralize the enemy.
......
