Okay. I know I'm the rampant speculator, but it's -so- much fun.
Okay. Laura, Hammond... I still suspect Rowan, simply because of her closeness to Hammond, and her 'handling' of the Cal/Wyndi moment.
Hammond in action as an operative. Ouch.
and DOUBLE WANGST!!!

Chapter 18:
I'm left wondering exactly how Scaly looks. You described him as massive and covered in scales; is this sort of a Colossus-type armor, much like Rowan's? Or is this more like the Thing? Is it asymmetrical, or fairly even? How massive is he? Juggernaut-massive? Hulk-massive? Or simply large, like Colossus? With the scales, is he more reptilian-looking? Or does it just look like natural armor?
I like how well the team works together, though when it comes down to it, they tend to divide into individual frays, instead of having their abilities complement each other. They manage to do this when it counts, and I suppose that in a situation like this, divide and conquer is key, but I wonder if there's going to be an issue later on. They said themselves that they hadn't been together since the North Korea mission; we'll probably find out why soon enough.
Back in the "present", we're seeing more of the character interactions, and the circles start to form.
"Fishy water", indeed. xd Brilliance.
Evan seems like an Iago; tending to the seeds of discord that obviously were planted by the Academy. One wonders if he will become a protagonist in this, though it's too soon to tell. It may simply be just his upbringing; he's just as biased as the "norms".
Chapter 19:
And we see why Hammond says in Chapter 18 that he doesn't like surprises; he lost a teammate - and possibly a friend - when he abandoned the sapped Electro without killing her.
Liz and Weston...intriguing. He's having a moral quandry, and she's capitalizing on it.
It's interesting how this will affect Cal when he inevitably will find out; his father appears to be high up (or wants to be) in the administrative functions, and Cal has been said to be the "Poster Child". He definitely has potential to be a wedge.
Gendou seems to be gaining confidence, and Jillian seems to want to. I can definitely see these two become friends in the near future. With practice, I wonder if Gendou will be able to hold his physical form indefinitely at will. It's obviously a strain now, but he's making an effort. Not only that, but he's trying to reach out - something that Meghan had told Rowan probably wouldn't happen.
And this will be my only bit of selfish commentary, so feel free to skip over it. I wanna see more me! whee
I'm absolutely loving this, more and more with each new installment.

I felt that the interaction between Gendou and Jillian was really great. Having two people who hardly socialise to get together is a sweet idea, and pulled off very well. Also, Jillian's comment about being too desperate revealed some things about her character.

It took me several lines to realize that in this story, my hair is, in fact, long and pale.

Gendou "Anyway, they were down there, apparently, uhm, getting physical, and he was touching her when-" That's right, folks. I'm that good. ^_^ That description would have made me trip, no matter who the characters had been. But when one of them is loosely patterned after me... I freaking love your imaginative, gruesome descriptions of practical applications of various Aborrent powers. I look forward to the next chapter. Arcadian I really, really liked that look into Ian's past. What a scene for a horror movie, though. *kiss... kiss... GIBBITS* Don't make me come over there and make out with you, b***h. twisted

The goodness keeps coming. heart I really like the flashback stuff (and not just because I'm in it. Or should that be "not just because I'm in it"? whee ), it sets the stage excellently as we watch the story of the kids unfold (and I just realized all three of the old strike team are CoM Saints.). Great stuff - not to mention that the "action breaks" help the flow of the story. It'd still work without them, but every now and then we wanna see some powers in action, after all. ;3
Keep it coming. More character interaction, more plot twists, more action, more everything. domokun

Whoa. I can see why Hammond hates surprises, which makes me wonder why he simply KO'd the woman. He probably still feels a little guilty for the death of Erich. I'm curious about that nature of an "Alpha-Tango" as well.
I think the setup of "past, then the present" is continuing to work well; you can give us action and backstory in the past parts of the story while continuing with plot development and character interaction in the present.
The meeting between Jillian and Gendou was quite charming. It showed how awkward the two of them are, and how reluctant they are to challenge that awkwardness due to their powers and open up a little. Though Gendou made more progress just by trying. Perhaps he saw a kindred spirit.
And the Weston/Liz pairing... intriguing. I smell a confrontation coming on.
So Cal's dad is a bit of a ladies' man, eh? xd But here it's revealed that Laura is indeed part of the Movement with Hammond. I wonder how Meghan and Alexander feel about the Movement, though I haven't noticed any hints towards their involvement so far. And I'm just not totally sure about Rowan's feelings yet. I guess time will tell.
More please! domokun heart
