11:00 AM Everyone:You quietly follow Elgar and Sertus through about three-quarters of a mile worth of tunnels. Here, they inform you that the city is directly above you. The trapdoor is opened slowly. Elgar goes out first, followed by Sertus. You come out in the following order: Lud, Layla, Xiao, Nyx, Willow, Lyriana, Apollo, Mella, Tasson, Mazurn, and Sand-Claw. Sand-Claw, due to her shape, has to be carefully pulled out little by little through a group effort, but she gets out without making too much of a racket. "All right," Elgar says. "The Red Army may already be in the city, so we'll have to be VERY careful!" You are in a tavern, which is completely empty but looks like it was cleared out in a rush. People left food, drinks, and miscellaneous belongings on the tables, chairs, bar, and floor. The street outside is quiet and you can't see anyone through the windows. The door is closed, but unlocked. What will you do?

I do the most obvious thing: search for a little liquid courage. Games of old sometimes gave you some perks to defenses while drunk, so perhaps this game's mechanics will be the same! Also, free beer. I remain vigilent of incoming Reds, scanning about the windows and the tavern.

I look around at all the various belongings that were left behind to see if I can find anything of value that no one would miss.

"What are you guys doing?" I ask quietly. "It's not nice to go through people's things, and we have more fun things to be getting to" I say, and draw my crossbow before, carefully looking out the windows to see what is outside.

11:01 AM Layla:You find quite the assortment of booze. Wine, scotch, ale, and a few other drinks ranging from light to hard. You don't see anyone through the windows. Nyx:{Discovery d20: 14} You don't find much of interest, but you do find a small notebook filled with scribbled notes and such. {INT 14: 17} {INT bonus: -2} {Final INT roll: 15} You can't make heads or tails of it, sadly. Sand-Claw:You see a single person on the street: they look homeless and are huddled in an alley across the street. You don't see any Reds or non-homeless citizens. "Let them finish and we'll go," Elgar says.

I decide to pocket it anyway just in case I find someone who can make sense of it.

I cautiously go up to one of the windows closest to the door to scan the street, all the while getting an earth/water spell ready.

11:02 AM Nyx:The book doesn't add much to your inventory weight. Apollo:You see someone coming down the street, but they're not in Red Army garb. You figure they could still be trouble, though. They seem to be pretty intent on their target, whatever it is. And they're coming towards the bar quickly.

"Not that this is not thrilling" with this she headed towards the door and opened it, if it was locked she would simply smash it down.

I load my crossbow, and get ready to set out, or defend the bar, which ever came first.

I get against the wall so that I can no longer be seen. "Everyone, there's someone heading towards here, but they don't look like they're with the Reds." I say to alert everyone.

I take a swig of the wine and bring some to Xiao. Not a romantic gesture by any means, but I was curious to see how she liked fancier beverages when not under social obligation to enjoy them. Upon hearing Apollo's comment, I sharpen my guard up a little, but I don't draw any weapons. If there was one patterned the Reds seemed to follow, it was that they were a rape-and-pillage type of invader, prefering to destroy enemies in their path as opposed to capturing cities, so a potential ally may end up being scared off with the display of weaponry.

11:03 AM Willow:When you open the door, you find a dead cat hanging from the outside by its tail, a dagger stuck into the tail. This dagger is quite bloodied and has a golden charm dangling from the end of the handle. This charm is shaped like a raven. You see someone approach the bar rapidly. He appears to be unarmed, but he is not in a pleasant mood. He also does not appear to be scared. Rather, he looks angry. He's not in a Red Army uniform, just civilian clothes. Sand-Claw:You notice the extra tension the weapon smith put into the string to give the bolts more power. You can't help but smile, remembering the fight in the Challenge yesterday... Apollo:Tasson cracks his knuckles and smiles. Layla:Xiao takes a good mouthful of the wine and swallows before handing it back to you. She shakes her head a little but gets into a ready stance, so that she can rush them if need be.
