(I am assuming that no one else has anything to say before the army reaches the battlefield. So if you do, it will just go before this). With the army lined up on the battlefield, and their elven foes standing little more then a bow shot away, Thanatos turns to face the men. "My brothers...today you stand against people who would seek to take that which is not theirs. They marched forth, thinking to take your homes, sell your wives, and enslave your children. But they did not expect that you would stand here today, ready to bleed for what is yours. And now my brothers, let us shock them once more, by driving them back, and exclaiming to the whole world, in one loud voice, that we will be other kingdoms play thing no more."

Seeing that last post assumes we have reached the battlefield it has yet to happen. But preferably I would like the battle field to be a field, with the woods just behind us. Im rolling to find the Battlefield, cause i assume I cant take 20 on that...

You find what you want, and have a hill at your back (unless you prefer to perch upon it). A rough platform has been built atop it for observations. The camp before is left unbroken for the non-combatants. Unfortunately, some rocks makes communication slightly slower for you, but it will also impede anyone else.

"Runner" Thanatos shouts. He then proceedes to wait as a small fat man comes running towards him. "Tell the Captain of the Archers he is to move his men onto the hill, furthermore tell him that he is to take sharpened stakes and impale them infront of his men, facing away from them of course. If he asks why, to stop cavalry, if he counteracts my order, kill him, and appoint someone new. Understand?" Thanatos waits for a nod, before sending the small fat man scurying off. Thanatos quickly looks around for someone else. Setting his sights upon a man that looks relativley fit, but not like a fighter, he calls him over. "You there, you look like you could run. And thats good for you, you are going to relay orders during the battle, is that understood? Better yet, can you ride?" IF the answer is yes, Thanatos tells him to take a horse from one of the Nobles, or horsed men, or worst comes to worst, myself, If no, he says "You can't Ride? Damned, well then get out of here, and find me someone competent!"

He can ride and knows someone with a mule. The first runner dallies questioning, "You want the archers impales on sticks?" Fortunately, someone saw to this issue and had a scribe recording these commands, who roughly shoves the parchment in the runner's hands. "Honestly, the archers don't deserve it today, but fine."

(come on, so I take a month off of gaia to catch up to two years worth of you guys playing WoW and you get upset...tsk tsk. Sorry. I didn't know we could narrate our own forces' actions...that will make things easier.) "hmm...Well if we were to use boiling oil, decoys and the usual warfare...fare it would have been best for us to be ready a few hours ago, however what we have at the moment will need to suffice. we should probably have the infantry form into two lines below the archers, the front using their short weapons, I and the back row using long weapons of any sort. this would allow the archers to fire over them, but still give them a decent advantage in close combat. I believe we should wait for them to come to us." Sursqueek moves to take a position lower on the hill than the archers, but higher than the infantry, looking for more signs of the enemy. Hopefully less scouts hanging from trees this time. He also checks the map he used for scouting earlier for any directions he knows the enemy cannot be coming from. (spot check: Knowledge Geography check smile

(1 hr elapsed total) "Errr... is dis der tiktak ting?" One of the lieutenants salutes. "Last guy say tiktak only good for the smelly..." Reflecting on this, the last general is also dead...

Although you roll well, the geography is rather similar to before. You have the high ground of a hill, they have a lowland area. They are not really forced in your direction, but the woods fade on either side and they are wood elves, so it seems plausible, or certain, they are headed this way (they are). Not much else is apparent, no seas, no outcrops, and no buildings are around for miles. Almost traditional for wars in this part, partially because most buildings out here would rather be classified as 'ruins'. Spot fails to notice anything abnormal, just dazed troops under your command.
