Shera looked from one to the other. "You're right Uncle Veral. It is different." She said looking up at him and beaming. She put her paws back against the ground, dousing the flame. "So shall we get started on today's work?"
Miluiel nodded, "Would you like to begin dear?" Miluiel asked sniffing the deer. It was his kill. From where Miluiel came from it was the woman's job to cater to the men. The contradiction in customs created a slight confusion but together the two of them were learning together.

Veral grinned and clapped his hands together. "Okay then, lets get started you two. Now to create barriers, you'll need to get yourself in the right frame of mind. To make them, you need to think of getting in preventing something from getting to something else, to prevent two things from touching." He explained leaning forward, and using his hands to give a visual as he spoke. "When you are in that frame of mind then let your powers flow through you, and with that frame of mind the energy will manifest itself in the form of a barrier. The most basic, which we are going to start with, is the wall. I'll demonstrate for you and then you two try it." Veral held his hand out in front of him and a rough rectangle made seemingly out of light appeared for a few moments and then disappeared. "Alright, now you two give it a go."
Azrael sighed giving in for the moment. "Well, lets just get started." He said, his hunger winning out over this common issue brought on by the contradictions the cultures they were raised. Besides, it would be wasteful to just let the prey lie there. Azrael licked his lips and began to eat heartily, but not too quickly so that his wife could join in.

Shera put her paws up before her preparing to start this new bit of magic. She was excited, but nervous also. "Uncle Veral," She said in her usual question tone, "What if when we need this to protect ourselves we don't have enough time to get ourselves in this right frame of mind? If we're scared it will be harder too, won't it?"
Miluiel smiled to herself as Azrael dug in. She allowed him a moment's head start before she dug her muzzle into the fallen deer's side. She began to eat along side Azrael, not with a savage ferocity, but enough that it showed she was hungry and the meat was very satisfying.

Veral smiled and nodded. "You bring up a very good point, little one." He said. "If you need to protect yourself in a pinch, then what you do is simply throw up a wall of energy. It is the same process as the energy protection we practiced last time, but you spread that energy over a wider area. This barrier will absorb an oncoming strike, to certain degree. However, because of the quickness that this kind of barrier uses, and that the energy projection is spread, it will break after a few hits, and you would need to create another quickly." He explained.
Shinn piped in. "How do you change the size of the barriers?" He asked, his tail swishing curiously.
"We'll cover that after we finish with the basics Shinn. Some techniques are much more difficult than others, and you'll find you won't be learning some of them until you are older." Veral said nodding to the older cub.
Azrael paused for a moment to lick his lips and smiled at Miluiel. "Whenever we have deer together, I always remember when Shera was born. I brought home a deer to eat that night." He said, having a nostalgic moment.

Shera nodded. She wanted to try throwing out all her energy to make a barrier. She thought for a moment, summoning all her energy to one area. She then physically, with a movement of her hands forced it out. Shera opened her eyes looking at the other two and hoping she had made this energy throwing barrier.
Miluiel bowed her head to bashfully lick the blood from her nose before she looked Azrael back in the eyes. She nodded and smiled. "Yes, that was quite a fine night dearest." Their decision to change her into a werewolf had not happened all that long before Shera was born. It was more for Shera that she had made an agreement to change. She knew elves had a hard time with childbirth. She hoped that being a werewolf would help some and in fact it did. "The best deer in the world." She joked recalling how hungry she had been. "Yes, that is a wonderful memory. It doesn't seem like that long ago, but it must have been."

Veral looked at Shera's and and then tried to reach for her. The air front of Shera's hands flashed for a moment and his hand met resistance. "Well, well! It looks like you have quite a barrier there, little one!" Veral said, quite impressed with her display.
"Wow Shera! That's really good!" Shinn said, having seen what she had created. He was quite proud of his little sister.
Azrael chuckled. "It was only six seasons ago." He said, meaning that it had only been three years. Werewolves knew of years, but they were more used to measuring time in seasons, though Azrael had been trying to come around to using years for Miluiel's sake, though sometimes it was hard to shake old habits.

Alunn felt the magic and got up curious. He moved until he could see and watched the three interested in what they were doing.

Shera blinked and tilted her head to the side. She dropped her paws to the ground and looked at the spot where Veral's hand had been. "Did I really do it?" She asked amazed. "I didn't think it would work my first time."
Miluiel nodded, "It's not been an incredibly long time, but I think that in our six seasons together we have formed a very tightly and closely linked family. I am very thankful to have a healthy family. I am thankful to have you as my sire." She said smiling at Azrael. "I do not think that any arranged marriage my father could have set up would be this perfect and wonderful."

Azrael smiled at Miluiel very passionately. "I have never, ever been happier before in my life. You have brought me joy that I thought that I could never reach. And I am blessed that I have you to watch over a family with." Azrael was glad that they had this private moment alone together, it seemed to make the weariness of his position melt away.
"Your really good at it Shera. You'll probably be a whole lot better at magic than I will." Shinn said to his little sister encouragingly.
Veral grinned and gave Shera a pat on the head. "You have quite a lot of talent, little one! Especially for your young age." He told her. Veral looked to Shinn next. "Alright then, young Shinn. Let's see yours."
Shinn nodded and tapped into his center drawing his power out, and held his paw out releasing the built up energy.

Miluiel blushed beneath her thick fur. She felt her heart race to his gentle words which always made her blood burn in her veins. "It is destiny that we have ended up together you know. It was meant to be, and I will for ever be eternally grateful." She leaned over towards him and nuzzled his head with hers.
Shera blushed a bright crimson. "Oh I'm not so sure about that." She said feeling embarrassed now. "You're really good Shinn, with most things you are better than I am." She sat back to watch Shinn try his turn at putting up a shield. "You can do it Shinn!" She whispered encouragingly.

Azrael returned Miluiel's nuzzle and smiled. "And I shall be eternally grateful to you Miluiel. To make you happy is all that I need." He said. "Now, lets return to our meal, while it is still fresh."
Shinn nodded and held his hands out to help him focus his energy as he released it into a shield. When Shinn created his there was a slight flash, but not overly bright. Veral reached out toward Shinn and encountered a strong barrier. "It worked!" Shinn said happily.
Veral nodded and smiled. "You two catch on pretty quick. You both have quite a talent for it!" He told them, quite pleased with his students.

Miluiel nodded. In the wilderness it did not take long for the heat of the body to subside, and a meal like this was best eaten as warm as one could get it. "Yes dearest." She said bowing her head to the animal's side again.
Shera jumped with excitement. "You can do it too Shinn! You can do it too!" She cheered happily. "Congratulations!"

Veral smiled and gave both of his pupils a piece of jerky as a reward. "You both did a very good job. Now we will be moving on toward creating the more advanced shield." He said to them pleasantly, and giving them a few minutes to enjoy the jerky and to get ready for the next part of the lesson.
Shinn ate his piece of jerky and licked the salt off of his lips. "Okay, Veral!" He told him. Shinn rubbed his belly happily. "Mmmmm... Auntie Mazzia's jerky is good!"
Azrael sighed, and the began to eat once more. He was very happy to have this time alone with his wife to enjoy this meal alone, together.

"That shield is good for physical manifestations, how would it work against mental or spiritual manifestations" Alunn asked, unable to help himself. He had never seen someone teaching others things like this.

Shera hungrily pounced at the jerky. Bumping her nose she took no time to recover and started gnawing on the meat with much joy. Finishing her piece Shera looked expectantly up at Veral, "May I have some more please?" She asked sweetly.
Finally full Miluiel sat back and began to clean herself. She licked her snout and her paws which she brushed over her fur after doing so. She waited for Azrael to enjoy the rest of his meal before she would ask him what he wanted to do with the rest of their time together.
