skylarklovesme So d**k's Sporting Goods seems to have some assumptions about women. Besides that a salesman recommended that my mom, who is training for a triathalon, look at a bike that was a little more "relaxed and easy-going" because "that's what most women are looking for," they only had one wall section for "women's outdoor shoes" (opposed to the two sections of men's hiking and field boots), a third of which were ugg boots. What kind of outdoor activity can you do in ugg boots? You might as well go hiking in house slippers. Amen to that. emotion_facepalm I'm not very outdoors-y myself, but the sexism pisses me off. It's the same with comic stores, though, stupidly enough. There seems to be this general assumption that all women are into, I don't know, flowers and cookbooks or something, because if you look in the geeky section of stores that sell Doctor Who merchandise, for example, everything is advertised as being "the perfect gift for Dad!" and the only clothing sizes available are for men and boys. :/ It's bullshit.
