A glare through slightly green tinted screens was what they got as she got defensive. "First off I did not just get out of major surgery, second I am fine, third I've been doing this a lot longer than either of you both put together. Don't presume that you two can start making presumptions and decisions about what I can and can not handle. Okay?!" Yikes, very defensive. Okay...so she was sensative about it.
Of course on that note, she let go of Lillia...and left her crutches where they were. Stupid things anyway...and took hold of the various walls, starting to make her way out of the enclosure and back project areas. She was fine...perfectly fine. And she could do her job and her tests just as well as she had been able to before.
And if not there were probalem some drugs that could help that now wasn't there? Nothing a trip down to any of the five sick bays couldn't cure.

James chuckled lightly.
"Stubborn as a missouri mule, that woman."
So he caught up to her, not hard to do, and grabbed her wrist, holding her fast right where she was.
"It's not what you can or cannot handle, Jelena. It's only concerns. she's a bigger, heavier breed then your Fenrirs. and I noted you didn't want to go in their enclosure for the reason that you know they would have nudges, bumped, and such on you and you woudl have fallen and had a hell of a time getting up."
A more concerned look.
"This breed has three heads. three distinct minds. one is more territorial and aggressive for sure.. we're only worried that testing might get you snapped at and your reflexes are not to up to thier usual. not to mention if she puts you down, you can't get back up on your own yet. I'm not saying you shouldn't administer your tests, just don't do it by yourself if you can help it. hell, you can't even get away from me if you wanted, and her jaws grip alot harder than my hand does."

And now Jelly was pissed. But then that was ot be expected considering how defensive she could get about her Echos and her project. Lillia watched her for a moment after she jerked away, unable to conceal the hurt in her eyes and on her face though she swallowed and wiped her face clean before proceeding after her boss.
"I was just worried about you. Forgive me for forgetting my place, Dr. Trevale, I won't do so again."Nodding to them both she glanced towards the exit to the back labs, "Excuse me, I have a thesis to work on..." James would have a better time tlaking sense into her after all, and she handed James the clipboard and left the room.

That was perhaps the most annoying thing about this all...she couldn't get away from anybody, seeing as they could walk twice as fast as she could. A look to her wrist where James had hold of her, her other hand still bracing herself up using the wall. Though he was still making her bristle. "I'm not going in there not because I wouldn't be able to get up...which I would be...I'm not going because of wolf pack mentality. Frankly, I'm absolute alpha...and wolves who detect thier alpha is lame either kill it or feel a fight in in order to take claim of that position themselves."
Insinutating something that she wasn't liking at all. She knew he was doing it because he cared, and was being the loving boyfriend, but that didn't mean it stung anyless to be told that she wasn't up to par. "My reflexes are fine, James." Denial anyone? There was probably medication for that too. Great, her mind was on drugs again. "You're acting as if she would kill me...I have a fail safe against that." Something that only Erik and herself knew was done to Echoes...specfically to prevent that sort of thing.
But her attention went to Lillia for the breif moment that she came up to her. "And don't you do that subserviant thing!" Called after her as she walked off...great, now she had hurt Lillia's feeling and James' were probably next in line. She had a tendency to do that.

"Okay, then that's just another reason to add to the list. I'n not sayign she would kill you, but she could hurt you and not mean to out of defensive instinct. and your reflexes are fine, eh? okay then, lets test that."
He let her go, and then shot his hand forward and made a clang sound from snapping his bioware hand into his fist front of her nose.

She didn't even flinch at his actions, merely stood there with a rather firm and perhaps commanding look in her eyes. "Rule one...never run from a wild animal...more so from creatures that are a mix of several." Sure, sometimes that got you hurt, but if you didn't take charge and let them know who was dominate, then they would indeed hurt you all the more.
Jelena shook her head lightly. "I know that you are just trying to look out for me and I'm not the most wonderful person to deal with right now...but I can't help it. I'd rather not have that damned surgery if I knew I was going to be like this." No, she wasn't happy at all. But a surrendering sigh. "If it suits you that I have someone there, then fine, I will."

"Thank you, dear. That's all I ask."
He took her hands, and lifted them up and lightly kissed the back of both of them.
"and I know this isn't going great for you, but Camp and Jessica are working together to get a fix. hopefully they'll have something soon, and then you'll be back and running at the usually warp nine."
A small smile.
"And I'll personally shoot your crutches out the nearest airlock and use them for cannon practice."

Of course by 'someone with me' she probably meant a little tech who could handle a tranq gun and sit in the corner and keep his mouth shut to let her concentrate. But it was better than nothing, right? With a sigh she leaned back against the wall, giving a sigh. Her mood had indeed been awful lately...she didn't even know it possible to permanently throw a person's center of gravity, but apparently it was.
Though she did give him one of those smirks she got. "Sounds like a good idea to me..." Then another sigh. "Doesn't make Lillia any less mad at me or you any less irritated. And without Erik right now you two are the only reliable people I have and I'm venting on you both."

Some time later, Fox lay on the workroom floor, eyes closed and lying very still. If he had stretched out anymore, his hands would have brushed against metal plates and other things lying around him. But the circle in which he lay though, was spotless and clean. Fatigue was beginning to catch up to him and mental work was far more draining than physical labour. There was no clock in the room so he couldn’t possibly have known how long he had been lying there, flipping through the catalogue of ideas in his mind and discarding most of them.
And then, a buzz sounded. The 'doorbell', so to speak. Giving a slight groan, Fox pulled himself up from his comfortable position and pressed the button on the door console to open it. It was a delivery drone, and it quickly handed Fox a microchip before zooming back down the corridor at alarming speed. The chip was popped into his PDA device and Fox grinned as the long list of personnel and their corresponding security levels scrolled down the screen. Michael was efficient, now he had to get his own a** in line. Lovely.
Recoding all the security levels was going to take time, but it was only meticulous, not difficult. What was nagging at him now was the question of security triggers and additional deterrence measures. Something new needed to be developed and maybe the time had finally come for the self-proclaimed genius engineer to get some help. Skimming through the list, he stopped at a bolded name. Dr. Jelena Trevale, Echo Project leader. Yeah, she would do.
Shoving the PDA back into his pocket, he headed off for her office aboard Envision. No, he didn’t believe in "calling ahead of time", just wasn’t a Fox thing. So 15 minutes later, he was there and pressing the glowing red button. If she couldn't help him, it would be a sad sad day indeed for the engineer, and maybe even the entire fleet.

Buzz. Stupid bee go away, I'm busy. Specimen in question has the genetic deficiency but test subject A used by verification of the prototype contains no such deficiency in neither the membranes or the cells.... Buzz. Prototype, initially developed and copyrighted by Dr. Jelena Trevale, contains high amounts of both strands for the adjucation of the.... Buzz. What is that noise? Adjucation of the... Adjucation of the...what? The last word was called out angrily as she studied the blinking screen with the spinning image of the Fenrir and her thesis loaded on the other. The cursor remained in it's place, blinking mockingly and she frowned at it before realizing the door buzzer had sounded.
Hastily she stood up and hurried over, pressing the button to release the catch and blinked at the man standing on the other side. Running her fingers through tousled blonde hair for a moment she blinked again and shook her head. "I'm sorry, can I help you?"

It took awhile for the door to slide opening with the typical foreboding hiss. He had been waiting quietly, tapping his fingers unconsciously again on the side of his thigh. Hmm, that's one busy woman... Blue eyes lit up when a flustered face finally gazed back out at him through the doorway. A pause ensued as his eyes passed over her. It was a young and attractive face, the messy blonde hair and the blue eyes almost like a parallel to himself; definetely not what he was expecting. "Dr. Trevale I presume?" His face assumed that typical playful grin again as he held out a hand for her to shake. "Darren Foxworth, fleet engineer."

Lillia looked at the hand and then at the face and then back at his hand before reaching out and taking it, shaking it lightly then dropping it. "Don't I wish. Actually my name is Lillia Nickko. I'm Jelena's assistant though I'm thrilled to meet you all the same." Breeding spoke up at this point as it so often did. She studied him for a moment before remembering the rest of her manners and exclaiming, "Mr. Foxworth, please come in. Excuse the mess, Jelly's a bit of a chaotic sort." She stepped back and hastily walked over to her desk, which was pristinely clean with the exception of three open books, two open files with various sticky notes on them and her laptop.
Shutting the ancient computer she plopped down in her chair and spun then turned to face him grinning, "Dr. Trevale will be back just as soon as she finishes in the labs. In the meantime is there something I might be able to help you with?"

Fox shook her hand politely, slightly embarrassed that he had called her by another woman's name. Lesson learned: never assume. And then his eyebrows cocked a little at her name, and the gears in his mind turned. "Nice to meet you, Lillia.... Hmm, Nickko as in Bradley and Jacklyn Nickko?" Of course, now he remembered. Everyone knew the scientists who were at the head of this constant dispute the R.E.I.I.I. fleet had with Earth. She couldn't really be the daughter of the 'enemy' so to speak, could she?
He stepped into the office at her invitation, looking around with a sort of apprehensiveness. Books and files, instead of metallic gadgets, were everywhere and though she had mentioned Dr. Trevele's apparent untidiness, it made him grin a little to imagine what she would think of his room then. "Please, just Fox will do. I'm no one special, Mr. might be overdoing it a little."
Indeed, it made him uncomfortable to be restrained by a title. Something that held so many societal connotations and constraints with it. He stood in front of her, shifted his feet, and shoved a hand into his pocket casually. "Well I'm actually 'head engineer' of Radiance, recently appointed to basically do a security overhaul for the fleet." Again with the titles, ugh. "I've been going over a few ideas in my head but I needed some consultations in the biological aspect of the upgrades." A self-conscious chuckle. "So you think you're up for it or should I just wait for the doctor?"

She saw the recognition in his eyes, heard it in his voice but didn't let her smile fade. Instead in that same 'bouncy' voice she nodded. "I know I should change my name, what with all the controversy it causes." Turning slightly in the chair, she began to tidy up some of the books and files laying out. "But you know, I can't help but think of what a great ice breaker it is. The moment the name pops out people either are shocked and stunned or outraged. All in all I get some pretty interesting reactions which makes having it worthwhile."
She ran her hand over her hair once again, dislodging the headband that was currently keeping it in some sort of style. Nonplussed, she bent down and picked it up then tossed it onto her desk so it landed on top of her laptop, grinning sheepishly at Fox. She could handle the request, in fact she'd love to handle just that but Jelly might prefer to take it herself...not to mention she wasn't the happiest with Lillia right now. "I'll page Dr. Trevale for you, she's the real authority around here as you well know. And I'm supposed to be working on my thesis. You know, one would think after getting three degrees by the time most are out of college, I'd get off the hook with my homework once in a while." Giggling she shook her head then opened her computer and pulled up the appropriate screen.
She typed a few commands on the computer, preferring not to do it personally and sent a message to the communication device Jelly always had on her wrist. It would have been a simple matter to use her own voice to call Jelena but with the current situation she chose to keep it formal. "There, I've sent her a message, she'll get it and be down here in a few seconds I'm sure. Meanwhile, you're more than welcome to have a seat..." she paused looking around. "Anywhere really."

Her attention turned from James down to her wrist mounted system, the little screen blinking a moment. A push of her button got information sent to her OODDS where she ran over the information. Fox. Ah yes, Fox. She liked to call him a tinkerer. Five years in Fleet and she had never personally met the man, though she knew he designed a lot of the equipment and what not for Fleet. "Seems business has popped up."
Thus she pushed off the wall and then started using it to walk her way, slowly of course becuse of current situation, and made her way through the labs, eventually coming to her office. Using walls and furnature with one hand, though did it to make it look like she wasn't purposefully trying to, even though she was. Didn't need that impression being made on this guy. A look to Lillia. "Sorry about yelling earlier...my mentality is everywhere these last few weeks...I'm just frustrated." One of those little sincere smiles before green eyes moved to Fox as one hand pushed her OODDS up off her face to rest in and hold back her hair. "What can I do for you Fox?"
