i just saw the announcement where the have a thread set up why they explain the 2% fee I'm gonna go check it out now.

ok I read it...i just don't think its correct....This is a virtual world...I don't think you can place real world economic rules in here...its not like in the real world where we can have a great depression and people will starve to death and die...in those circumstances yes I can understand that....but this is not the same...also i don't understand the argument they make that the richer will keep getting richer...of course they will espeacially of they are original members of gaia...it is very difficult to create an account today and even expect to get close to where they stand financially. It is a virtual life that does not abide by normal rules. If they were truly concerned about inflation of items then what they should do is reissue them...I know that would piss off alot of people that own these items but it would infact bring down the cost of the rare and expensive items...It is in fact Gaia's own greed that this exist anyways....they want our real world money ...that is why they created monthly EXCLUSIVE letters. I dunno... I know I don't know all the facts...I mean I got A's in macro and micro Economics and all but....the rules are diffrent here...ooh and that forum they said existed in the announcement...well i couldn't post in it...pretty much just a response to some questions.

At the bottom of this new announcement it has a link to the original announcement that i was talking about Erin.
I still think this is not the answer to Gaia's inflation....I honestly believe that the old items need to be re introduced back into the economy....
i dunno ... i just dunno...

The Sagger-AT3 threadmakes a distinction between the increasing value of old collectibles (which he says is a good thing) and inflation caused by more gold chasing fewer goods. I still don't get it .... so he is saying that its not the rising costs of Rare items...but its the fact that people will go to the market to buy something they could buy from a store for a little bit less???? hmmm ... I don't know still...you know its easy for me to see that in the real world that I am poor....in Gaia its harder for me to realize that as it is harder for me to realize that someone is rich in gaia....does that fact that I own a Kiki mean that I am a rich gaian? bah it doesn't matter I suppose ... gaia is going to initiate this reguardless and in time we will get use to it... will it fix anything ...who knows...I didn't even know things were broken now.

They did point out that they will be watching it closely to see if it's actually working - and change if it doesn't. I think the intentions are good. From what I understand they want to make sure it's not too hard for a newbie to get started. If it's too frustrating for people just starting out they will quit and go somewhere else. Too much inflation and you can never save up for that wished for item. It just goes up in price at the same rate (or higher) that you save gold. I'm actually interested in how it works out. Player economy is always something that online games struggle with. This time they brought in an actual economist (even if they're just a student razz ). Yep, very interesting!
