"Nikolai I believe that our troops might be better divided if we simply cut them at random, thereby increasing the chances that a miracle will occur, as only when there is a possibility of randomness do miracles occur, which to get these troops motivated, we might need one."

exclaim "I must say that was a better idea than what I had. For the sake of motivation I was going to take all the ones not taking my dear Senka seriously and place them in the front ranks. At the same time I'd ask lovely Senka if she would send Hunapo with said idiot and activate a large incindiary spell of some kind with him in range. That way we motivate the troops, get rid of the useless, lessen the drain on resources, and I might be able to get some post-organic troops I've been waiting for. Four birds with one stone." exclaim

"On second thought, without any real difference among them, it may be best if we quite stalling on our feet, and simply begin the assault on the elves of the forests then hopefully we'll be able to find out more about this dwarvish king we now serve, though, naturally, we need to win first for as it is said, 'Do that which starts the beginning before doing that which starts the ending and by no means complete the ending before beginning properly', or more commonly, 'First things First'. Afterwards the surviving troops might learn something."

A dead man with an arrow sticking out of his back and 'SCOUTTE' written on his uniform is tossed by some individuals who fell out of site. A simple note is attached with the message "Three miles and closing."

"Prepare the men, It looks like we battle soon" says Thanatos. "Perhaps we may not get all the time for preperations that we wanted" Thanatos pulls out a parchment of paper and looks over the troop numbers. He begins to draw small rectangles labling them Archers, Cavalry (if the general saw fit to give any to us), and Infantry (2 layers of spearmen out front, swords in the back of each regiment). When he is finished with his drawing, the archers lie protected Eshelon of infantry (straight line with a bulge, atleast i think thats the term i meant) and cavalry is off to the side, with a small group of skrimishers behind them, it is indicated that they are hidden behind the cavalry. "I think this is what we are going to do, we will have the infantry line up like this, the archers will open fire, as the infantry move forward, The cavalry will have the banner of the General at its head. They will begin to move to the far side of the battle field, at a slow trot, so the infantry can still keep up, and keep hidden. They should make it look like they are retreating, if the enemy sends cavalry of there own to confront it the cavalry is to wheel towards the infantry and the skirmishers are to take down the cavalry. Then the cavalry will flank there infantry, and we will crush them. Our infantry shall be the hammer, and our cavalry shall be our anvil, now let us ride forth and crush those that oppose us." Thanatos says to the other generals.

Unfortunately there are no calvary, but fortunately neither can the opponent bring calvary. The trees are too close for anything with speed, so it would become a tall target for enemies. You do see that there are some rather heavier skirmishers that you have...

"Well cavalry could be supplimented by fast skirmishers" Thanatos says, as he looks over his troops, eyes dwelling on the skirmishers "well so nice of the King to send us the fastest men in the kingdom...and damned, where are my men, they should have been here by now."

"Well Nikolai, you may have your post-Organic materials quite soon, that is much sooner rather than later, though of what species the flesh shall be will be up to the victors of the battles to come. Now then, time for black coffee and like colored metal, for at today's end the sky will darken and with luck our foes shall not live to see dawn as they are now! We should tell whoever is in charge of payment to give Mr.Scoutte a raise...Mayhap he'll have earned enough to be buried in the ground instead of the camp cookpot..."
Sursqeek looks at Thanatos's drawing thoughtfully, and with miraculously little speech.
"if we have archers to spare, we should have some in with the skirmishing groups..."

The sound track of dramatic decisions plays somewhere for the right moment. If people listen close enough, they can hear it carried by the wind to get to the appropriate group, but only if they are people capable of hearing such things. This holds no real importance.

"Many men will say that it is better to be feared then loved if you cannot have both, which many see as an impossibility. But we have an advantage of three generals, one of us can be the one to be feared, and the other two, well they will be loved and respected. Ready the troops. Tonight we (dine in hell?) march to victory."
