Nyx's eyes flashed in wild anticipation for what was about to occur. Very few knew of the powers of the blood crystals, yet she had been around when they first came into existence. With a small hand gesture, she seemed to pull the very air around the shattered crystal into herself before directing it outward at Luferius and Ryn.

"Captain!" Damien cried out as crystals started to fly towards him. What the hell is going on here?!

As the crystals cracked and shattered into fragments, Luferius paused as though hit by some invisible force. A range of emotions flickered across his features first showing pain, confusion, then a grim realization. The rapier fell from his hands as he stumbled forward, gripping at the collar of Ryn's shirt. An indignant sneer formed on his lips as blood began to pour out from them.
"..this...is not...over..."
His grip faltered as his lifeless body fell heavily onto the stone floor below.

"Captain!!" Damien yelled running to his lifeless body. "I...he..that was his stone wasn't it!? Luciferius...this...this can not be."
His rage now was near it's peak, but he could only blame himself. In his mind, he killed the captain.

As she came to the doors of the throne room, Ari paused to salute the other guards before entering. Sure enough, the illusion faltered and disappeared as Faith had told her it would. She began running up to where Ryn and the others were, but stopped in her tracks when she saw the vampire known as Luferius lying motionless on the ground. Her face paled, and she took a small step backwards.
"What h-happened?"

"My queen...I'm sorry..I didn't know...the blood crystal Luciferius gave me. It was his. He and I thought it was Ryn's so he ordered me to destroy it. It..." Damien couldn't speak anymore. He was terrible shaken and filled with guilt.

Ari felt her heart drop into the pit of her stomach.
"H-he's dead?"
She approached carefully, avoiding the fragments of crystal lying about. As much as she didn't want to see Ryn injured, she also didn't want to see anyone else harmed. What she felt was her duty conflicted horribly with her feelings for Ryn. Looking at Damien, she felt a few tears threaten to fall.
"I-I am so sorry. It wasn't your fault. You...you were only following orders."

"YES!" Damien fumed. "It's all...I don't know who to blame. You or Ryn or even Nyx...It doesn't matter what's done is done. You're looking at your new captain my queen."

The sudden outburst made her flinch. She knew the guilt he must have been feeling and felt that she might also be guilty. Looking down, she nodded solemnly.

Invisible to all, Nyx stepped out from the shadows of the room and silently approached Luferius' body. Nudging it with her foot, she smiled. "I told you. You should have listened to me and accepted the power I offered you." She moved beside Damien, looking up at him. "Your Lieutenant thinks he killed you. Don't you want to go back and let him know that it wasn't?" Nyx moved next to stand beside Ari. "What about her? You want to become king, don't you? Once you marry, all that power is yours. Everyone will listen to you." Lastly, she moved over by Ryn, wrapping her arms around one of the hands holding a sword. "You aren't going to let him get away, are you? I can even give you the power to beat him. He wouldn't stand a chance." She giggled, moving to kneel down next to the body and putting a hand to her ear. "What's that? You say you're sorry? You do need my help?" Smiling, Nyx reached out her hand to move Luferius' head to make a nodding movement. "Well then, I can give you power. The power to lead, to get what you want. I can help you rule." The little girl moved her hand to hover over the vampire's heart. "I'll just take your soul in exchange. I don't think you'll be using it much anyway." With a giggle, darkness flooded from her hand consuming the body and absorbing into him. Nyx vanished, only her laughter echoing into the distance.

"Captain!" Damien cringed. "How dare that...Nyx. My captain....What now my queen? All this for your power."

Ari stood wide-eyed. The darkness that Nyx commanded was evident. Spinning around, she searched to find where Nyx had come from and where she had gone. Her hands clenched. "Damn you, Nyx..."

Ryn growled, sheathing his blades immediately as soon as Ari entered the room.
"You can't blame this on me.. I had nothing to do with this." he said, looking at Ari and Damien.
"Looks like your Captain made a Deal with Nyx..Why else would she do this?"

A strange transformation overtook Luferius' body as his hair darkened, eyes snapping open to reveal a deep crimson color. Slowly he stood from the ground, baring his elongated fangs into a sinister smile.  "That will not be necessary, Damien." His voice sounded very much the same, save for a malicious undertone.
