"one deep gash, and one has a fractured collarbone. nothing that can't be fixed. The first time we did it the poor tech he got was in ICU for six months. after that we started strapping him down. Like I told doctor Camp, each time we do this James relives his whole life in about..thirty seconds. as if it was all really happening again, from birth to the present. I beleive you are familiar with the early greivious deaths in Metamorphosis. James turned the person responsible into little more than a sack of meat with eyes. he tends to relive that, and tries the same with whomever he grabs. not that he remembers doing that afterwards."

Eyes barely opened, staring at the ceiling a moment before gazing to things that caught her attention. Much like the tracking actions that infants engaged in. If it moved, it got her attention. But that was more or less her initial reactions.
"Don't expect too much from her. I have her bogged down and more or less paralyzed so she doesn't move too much and break things. She'll be a bit slow and what not for a bit...what with her brain trying to process all the new information that's been hooked to it." Blunt wasn't he?
Then a look to Jessica. "It was much more show than anything, thanks to the minimal restraints and all I would take it, and your soothing of him."
Erik was watching her...she looked all strung out, her hair messy and half plastered to her face, hooked up to variosu lines and monitoring equipment. "Working that surgery look now Trevy." Then he turned to Jessica. "And how's the hard a**? Memory issues and outburts aside?"

"Like I said, they didn't strap him down enough. but he knows my voice well enough to sooth him over."
Then over to Erik.
"He'll be out for three more hours. but other than that, he'll be able to move about probably ten to fifteen after he's awake. and he won't need this particular upgrade for a few years I'd imagine. Right now he has the memory capacity of about half a Fleet cruisers worth of information. not counting the used storage for his life thus far."

"So the blasted man could get four more degrees in one hour of time and be able to throw that much more knowledge into my face. Joy." Her consternation came from all the damned work she was doing on her thesis to finally get her doctorate. She'd been working on the blasted thing for six months now and she wsa nowhere close to having it finished. It would be so nice to be able to skim through a book and immediately catalogue the information for retrieval later.
Though her hand gently stroked Jelly's. "Well you pulled through, which is a good thing." She lifted her hand and scratched at the back of her neck then stopped when she realized Jelly was following her hand's movement. So she began to slowly move it in front of her face, give her something to watch, to lock on and focus to.

"Yeah that figures. Wish I have a memory like that, them maybe I wouldn't make as may repeat mistakes as I do. I know you're supposed to learn from your mistakes but I seem to be slow about it." He gave a chuckle and scratched at his hair, attention turning breifly to Lillia. "Are you having fun there Lillia?"

Jessica couldn't help it, and put on that seductive, almost hookerish salesperson smile.
"Well...you know all it takes is a little work, and your willing participation, and we can give you the smae memory he has..can even set it up so you can cover it with your hair and you can still have your ear. james lost his mostly due to the extensive neck and chest work."

Lillia giggled, "Yes actually I am. She's kind of funny when she's like this." She kept waving her hands around in front of Jelly's face before turning to glance at Jessica.
"No, I don't think that would be a good idea, Erik. You know that Jelly would kill you if you did that. Besides, we don't need another James around here, that's just not good."

Erik looked panic stricken a moment and then laughed nervously, running a hand through his hair and what not, tugging on his lab vest and pulling at his shirt collar. "Ah yes well...I think not. Could uh...be...detremental to Dr. Trevale's studies with the Echoes. After all, I'm a cause of reaction, aren't I?" Whoa, watch out for the women.

Jessica gave that pouty look, the usually make a guy want to do the opposite of what he just siad he wasn't going to do..before a chuckle and a loving caress over James' bioware.
"That's entirely up to you. Bioware is my lover, my husband if you would. I love to put it in new people, and take care of the ones that already have it installed."
Oh yes, Fein had a field day with one of her..well...more erotic MAPS sessions. She coudln't help it, afterall she'd just been to a bachelorette party at the time for one of her scientist friends on earth. damn that Fein woman. which was why she wasn't permitted to play with bionic AIs or possible full working bioware bodies to experiment with. She always wanted to build herself a husband.
"Though I will admit if we don't get anymore bioware applicants in the next few months, they may start to downgrade us more than they already have."
That got a genuine worried look. she loved her work, after all, and it seemed everytime cuts were called for from Fleet, Meta got the worst of it, seeing as they were mostly repairs and upgrades now.
"James' devotion and Rennel have kept us going pretty good, with some of the Fleet crew needing replacements or repairs. old soldiers. but the funds I keep requesting I base primarily on James and Rennell. and they are starting to get to a point that I can't give them much more without proper Research and Development."

She was creepy to a degree, he would admit to that. A strange one, that Jessica. Though a chuckled. "All of you women seem to be claimed to be married to your work. Though Trevy is cheating on hers with your fine piece of work there my dear." Erik gave a laugh at that before a solom nod.
"Have you put in a request this year to Norris." He crossed his arms. "As I hear it he's going to be shuffling things. Meta may not take the cut this time...supposedly he's doing harsh evaluations soon. Besides...James and Trevy have some interesting thing going on, you may want to pump him for that information. Could put Meta back in the R and D divisions and pull the place up a bit." How did he know that? Fleet FS, privy to many a thing.

"James' involvement with Echo won't help..the beancounters don't want to allow weapon or military research into it...unless you know something about this that your not telling me and you best or I'll sneak into your room and you'll find yourself with a bioware scent device designed to make you smell like a large moving steak."
Jessica didn't want to wait three hours for information for that kind of juicy improvement. R&D division...drool.
"And I've had a talk with Norris. He said it's still up to the Fleet sponsors in the earth government, but he'll try to stress the need to at least keep us at present working conditions. He'll do what he can."
Though a little, devilish, saucy grin to Erik.
"Well...maybe I just haven't found the right kind of man to turn my attention toward."
Teasing, but probably true. after all, the only men Jessica hung aroudn were Meta techs and patients.

She was a horribly obvious flirt now wasn't she? Lillia raised a brow again adn then shook her head. The woman wouldn't know subtle if it bit her in the...
Slim fingers ran through her hair, there wasn't a whole lot she had to give to this conversation seeing as she certainly wasn't married to her work. "I'm married to my thesis but I'm hoping to get a divorce really soon..."

He laughed and nudged Lillia with his elbow. "We're going to have to pull Jessica out on our little dating improptu with James and Trevy. Find a man and bring her out. Or you can go fetch Lord Sunshine, be his arm cany and I'll take Jess here. It's a triple date."
But he sobered a little and turned back to business matters. "I mean backwards...something about Jelena being able to recreate flesh and natural parts you know, replacements and then natural bioware coverings. Skin with feeling over metal, that kind of thing. Don't know too much they're been kind of hush hush with it."
He scratched his head. Then a devlish smile of his own, oh how he loved being privy to high information. "Norris is frustrated with the earth born restrictions. Theorhetically, since we can already reproduce our own material through recyling means, procuce our own energy and what not, sustain ourselves, we could break from government as well. Bad stuff is happening again, word is he may cut Fleet and Earth contact for a while. Who knows what will happen from then."

That got a look. actually, the look. the I want that really bad and right now look. Bioware skeletal structure, and flesh overtop. bioware nervous system and flesh intergration..bioware brain with a flesh body..a programable human. nope. can't take it that far. but full bioware to flesh integration. that woudl be a wonderful step forward. even with flesh, the right synapses and the right nano technology and you could keep the naturally stronger aspect of bioware..like James' very powerful grip and punch for his bionics..but retain flesh and bone, as to not stand out so badly. which for some was a reason they opted agasint bioware. it made them feel less than human she supposed. they'd rather not have an arm then be 'frankenstien's monster'.
"That is an excellent idea. and what kind of bad things? I've only heard the usual run of the mill upstarting. you know something else I don't know. protest groups and animal rights organizations..along with teh religious right haven't had too bad an effect since we became self sufficient."

That was an almost frightening look...but that was the look of ambition at it's best now wasn't it? But he was quite used to it by now...seen a lot of ambitious and eccentric scientists with it.
"Well...don't go spreading things. But seems that the military has a bone to pick with us...large scale presentations and asking for the right to step in on us again. Took long enough to get them out the first time if I recall my Fleet history correctly." He nodded. "We're doing that thing where we pose a threat apparently."
