I will try to interact with you more, qwaychou. I don't like any guildies feeling awkwardly out of the loop.

I am not much into the holiday, so... Hmmm... ! What did you make for your supper and was it pleasantly tasty?

Thank yo, Exxos. I don't feel out of any loop, per se, just trying to make some more connections.
We had shrimp cocktail, stuffed celery, deviled eggs, cherry glazed ham, baked potatoes, broccolli salad, orange-carrot relish, and cookies. It was all received very well, hee hee

Officer Hot-Pants

Mistake #1 - Assuming there is a loop in which to be. (for ethical and legal reasons, the ones in our brains no longer count).

Hi. smile

Hi! I'm pretty aware there really isn't a loop, I joined to be a part of something, closer to more people. That's why instead of being whiny, I'm trying harder to interact with everyone. I appreciate you comment, Officer, and I look forward to being an active member.

Oh, it doesn't take too long. Just jump in where ever you like. It's been quiet here lately, I'm happy to see a new face!

Thank you, Sammirah! I am grateful for your comment, I knwo the holidays makes most social sites slower, I will keep that in mind.
I think your avatar is beautiful.

I think the AGA specifically would slow down more than other parts of Gaia because we're adults and have lives and kids and jobs and stuff. So many other Gaians are high school or college students and once exams are over they're free for winter break. I have fond memories spending many hours over winter break on Gaia, either just chatting with my friends or working on the Christmas events. (I've had an account for 9 years sweatdrop )

Thank you! *twirls* I splurged and bought one of each of the MCs. Like, with real money I loved them so much.

To paraphrase Eddie Izzard, "Guns don't kill people, people do... but the gun helps, doesn't it? You can't just point at someone and yell BANG and they drop dead." The US has a ridiculous amount of guns, and they're just too easy to obtain. I think that the coexistance of these two social problems (stigma and difficult to get treatment for mental health issues, and easy gun laws) makes for a bit of a perfect storm for these kinds of atrocities. It's all incredibly, very sad, and I honestly don't really know what to say at all.

But I agree with you, Lily. I think people blaming whatever violent media for things like this is just crap and nonsense.

Eddie Izzards point is very accurate. Here in Finland we have very high amount of guns per people (a lot of people hunt so the guns are mainly rifles) and it's amazing that with the status of our mental health care (especially on the youth population) we have had only one school shooting even though the laws to get the guns are strict and have become more strict after the shooting. Like you said, these are always a mix of the easy guns with difficulty to get help for mental issues. Banning just guns though would only make it harder to get the tools but it wouldn't fix the cause of these issue.

Welcome to the guild and that supper sounds so delicious! We have a cooking thread in the hobbies -sub forum. If you have any good recipes, we are most eager to read them if you want to post them there. 3nodding

On to a more lighter tone, I went to the hairdressers today and cut off about half of my hair. xd I've been growing it since summer and it was almost midway to my back. Long hair is very inconvenient during the winter so I told my hairdresser to just steel her mind and cut it to shoulder height and dye it with rich chestnut red. I left some long, blonde, locks to that hairdressers floor but I feel so much better now. It's funny how you can get filled with so much good energy by just getting a new hairdo.

My mom and my husband helped. I would be stuck in bed if I made all that by myself, LOL

I understand how that works, everyone gets busy around the holidays, family gatherings and parties and such. I feel like I want to apologise for that one post, because I should've realised everyone is busy at this time of year and to give it a chance.

Hi there! Thank you for the welcome, I actually posted thread in there called "What's for dinner?" But I may look around in there a bit more, LOL
And I grow my hair out for Locks of Love. When I get enough to make a 12 inch ponytail, I go to the hairdresser, have her cut it off and then I send it in. That makes me feel good. They make wigs for children who have lost thier hair due to cancer and chemo therapy. I have nice shiny, curly brown hair, so it makes me feel good.

Yup, it's a complex issue for sure. We also need to be careful that in discussing the prevalence of untreated mental illnesses that we don't infer that mental illness equals a tendency towards violent aggressive behaviour. I'm not saying that anyone here has, but I think it's a good idea to keep an eye on discussions of the issue (not just here in our little guild). We don't want to further stigmatize individuals with mental health issues.

Nice! Yeah, a new hair style can be so energizing. I'm going to keep my hair the way it is for now, but roots sure are a pain. I was thinking maybe in the spring to go for an ombré look, so that I wouldn't have to deal with roots for awhile. Something kind of like this or this. I just hope I won't be too unfashionably late to the trend. sweatdrop
