"'Demonic influences'?" I ask curiously, wondering what dubious meanings that may hold.

"Thanks," I say cheerfully, and head to the place that Blecht told me to.

"Hm... that depends... what kind of focuses do you have?" I ask the shopkeeper.

Nyx:
You notice one down the road, on the left.

Layla:
"If this gets used as a holy focus, it might be able to subvert your power from holy magic to dark magic," the wizard explains. "And the more it happens, the more likely it is."

Sand-Claw:
When you arrive, you see Nyx coming your way. Inside, several smiths and weapon makers are showing off their wares.

Apollo:
"We have totems, amulets, and other small items," the sorceress replies. "The amulets are the most popular."

Willow, suddenly realising she had absolutely no idea what to say, decided upon looking through the blades herself, moveing quickly onto the more expensive ones.

"An amulet sounds good. My only requirement is that I need both my hands to remain free." I say.

"That's a curious effect... Might not want to channel healing through it though! Do I owe you anything for services?" I ask.

I head to the fifth store front on the left.

Willow:
The more expensive ones all require eighteen or more in your STR stat, but you only have thirteen. In this range, the prices vary but are generally between three silver and fifteen silver. The more expensive ones are all two-handed, while the cheaper ones vary between one- and two-handed. Suddenly, one gets held out in front of you.
"Might try this one," Lyriana says with a smile. "Seems like your style."
It is slightly heavier than your scythe, and is a two-handed sword. It requires thirteen STR, which you meet perfectly. It'll do {d8} damage, like your scythe, but has a shorter reach. It's well-balanced, and the hilt has an interesting swirling pattern going around the handle and along the guard.

Apollo:
"Hmm..." the sorceress says. "Wait there."
She goes over to the north wall of the shop and grabs a fancy amulet and brings it over to you.
"Here you go," she says. "This is a necklace-amulet that acts as a general focus. You'll need a bit of time to tune it to your energy signature, but once you've done so, it'll change magic types as quickly as you do. So if you use healing one moment, and fire the next, it'll transition quickly. I'd give it three battles before it's fully tuned, though."

Layla:
"No, it wouldn't bode well for your team," the wizard says.
Upon you asking if there is a charge, he smiles.
"Normally a consultation for two items is ten coppers," he replies. "But I'll say five for you, as you are certainly the most polite person to come to me today."
"You sure it's not because she's cute?" Xiao butts in with a giggle.
"Well...that MAY influence it..." the wizard says with a smirk.

Sand-Claw:
"Hail, dragon!" a weapon maker calls. "That's quite the weapon you have there! Perhaps you'd like a better one? More accessible, perhaps?"

I walk up and look around at the wares.

"hm... understandable..." I say, carefully eying the amulet for any interesting aspects to its design. "How much?"
PostPosted: Sun Aug 12, 2012 9:05 pm

"Why thank you!" I say to the wizard with a slight blush as Xiao interjects. I hand him the coin and put on the totem, figuring I could probably reserve it for smiting type abilities.

Nyx:
The first several smiths have small daggers like your original ones and several swords, mostly in the low-STR range. As you get further down, you find the wares getting progressively more powerful and expensive. Near the end, a smith holds out a short sword to you.
"Fifteen strength required," he says. "Light, swift, and well-edged. Guaranteed to cleave necks in no less than three chops. Assuming perfect conditions, of course. In average combat, arteries are commonly hit thanks to its enchantment of vital-seeking. Heart-stabs have a higher likelihood of happening, but are not as likely as artery severing. Seven silver!"

Apollo:
It appears to be in the shape of the compass rose, a common shape for general magic.
"One silver coin," the sorceress says.

Layla:
The wizard smiles as he takes the coins. He slips them into a coin purse and returns to the small items he was examining before, which you now recognize as rosaries. He seems quite intrigued by them. Perhaps Christianity really is an unknown in this world? However, Xiao grabs your attention.
"Hey, you thought he was cute, didn't you?" she asks with a smirk.

"Alright, I'll take that as well." I say as I pull out the required coinage for the purchases and hand them to the shopkeeper.

"Uhmm... Can I get a feel for it first before I decide? I'm also looking for daggers at the moment..."
