Yep so we have our referees! YESSS I'm so happy that I won't have to do it because it was kinda hectic last yera and would definitely be hectic this year for me.
Anyway, so any ideas? What kinds of things can we do that's not trivia.
We can have random winner contests... but that's lame

I know that there have been worries about not wanting to seem like we're copying anyone by using towns, but I think it sounds really fun, if we could think of something cool and creative to do with it, I'd be totally psyched.
Hide and Seek sounds fun too, but I wonder if we should, cause that's along the same lines as what the seekers are doing...
Hmmm... other ideas? Caption Contest? Fan art contest... for all those artsy fartsy people? Perhaps camping grounds, and a mr. rogers? (and old Archie in his flowery nightgown xd ) But maybe that's too much like "The Stands"...
I feel like, last time, there wasn't much interaction between the players and the spectators. Or even between the teams... I kind of want to look into a way of getting a real rivalry going, (I know we all love each other here, but come on, it's quidditch, lets see some nasty tactics and fouls!). Perhaps a team locker room? A team captain? They can get together and discuss "strategy" (<= Not sure what that might be, but we could get creative... )
If I'm remembering correctly, we haven't started recruiting players yet, right?
I want people to know who the players are, like, for there to be wild rumors, and crazy things that go around. Perhaps... if Reowr still needs someone to do mock interviews for the monthly, I could do it, and have it be interviews with the players? (I might have enough Rita Skeeter in me to mock-up a scandal)
Also I've got an image in the works for the event, probably a signature banner or something like that... just to promote the event further, I'm really hoping to create some buzz.
Uh- hrm redface just spit balling some ideas... For some reason my posts always turn into novels. sweatdrop
^this is me not posting by the way, no wonder I'm so behind on homework...

Towns? We've definitely used that before the only problem with that is it would require someone to be online at all times....and the guild isn't consistent enough for that.
Hide and seek is a good idea but remember that's pretty much what the Seekers are doing in the World Cup.
In the past, our art contests haven't been popular and they're limited to people who can actually draw. I do like the Camping Grounds idea... what can we do with that? Maybe have some creature/wizard making trouble but then that'll be a whole other event in itself =/
Recruiting hasn't started yet because things are still in planning stages. Right now it's just the Hogwarts Express. Sign ups should be soon wink
I'd be interested in seeing your banner!
I was thinking like a Concession stand area where we come up with some way (dice, roll a number, etc.) that people get certain food items (HP related). Certain items are worth a certain amount of galleons. Whoever gets/collects the most food wins.... that idea just came to me and it's a work in progress. Feedback? [[kinda like when you're watching a football game and take a break to get some nachos or hot dogs yummy]]

Thats a good idea!
Maybe get someone on both sides to lead like obsessive fanatic energy, and have them super pump up the stands and get the rivalry be extreme, the side with the most "craziness" wins........i would love that or both make it be part of the same thing

It kind of makes me think of like, when you're trying to get the peanut guys attention... haha, anyways...
And then I thought of this earlier, but forgot, could we have like... a Bagman type of person taking bets? To make things interesting... I think I remember Icee mentioning something about betting a while back...
^and I really hope I didn't just ruin anything that was in the works as a surprise...

I don't think something in Towns wouldd work. We're not a big guild. Activity's up a the moment, but that'd be boring 24 hours. And its just Towns. Not much to do there. Not like zOMG or one of the games, but those have 6 person limit... sad

for the part about me: yep it's a secret. And we're not basing things solely off HP characters. We're our own characters so that always works.

redface ... I went in and edited it a bit.
Then so far, I think the most solid idea for a spectators event has been concessions? Are we hoping for it to be a bit like gobstones was during spring term? (not necessarily the set up, but just how people could pop in now and again, kinda like a game...-ish type of thing..)

@icee so im just curious did you get the pm i sent with all the riddles and the answers i didnt even look to see if they were useable i just copied them from the first site i went to hope that doesnt make them nonusable also if you dont want to be a person givbing the riddles i can do so if need be

Now I get to work on all the stuff I've been wanting to do! I'm hoping to Draw some World cup images, and perhaps a logo (nothing too spiffy, I'm thinking a kind of Olympic spoof with the goal hoops, but thats just a thought in the works), but I don't have any fancy schmancy tablet and photoshop type of things ( gonk ) BUT I do have a scanner and a new HUGE box set of prismacolor pencils that I'm dying to try out!!! whee Hopefully it will be good enough, I'm really not the best at drawing... sweatdrop ...or design.... but I'm super excited to try!
@Mylian, I'm not sure what Icee has been up to... (and she'll probably have a more helpful -and more accurate- answer for you) but, I think that stardust disaster is doing the wand shop currently... and I think she tends to do it in chunks around sorting times between school terms... sooo... anytime now... hopefully.
