Ahem, I made a new poll into the That Made My Day - Moments of joy and awesomeness in the Real life -sub forums. Oh and there's even new replies so go see and share your moments of awesomeness! I bought the Sims Medieval - Pirates and Nobels adventure pack yesterday. It's so great. You can make a pirate kingdom! So my apologies if I'm not around lately. I'll be making havoc on the seven seas and digging up treasures! Yarrrrrr! pirate

Lilygwen Hey, I don't know if this is already old news but have you noticed what guild is hanging on the popular guilds list in the Guilds -main page? whee Yeah that's awesome! Things have really picked up a lot over the last few months thanks to you guys heart I've had more than a couple new people say in their guild application that they found us in the list of popular guilds - either the general list or high up for the adult guilds.

Because everyone knows that we AGAns rock their socks. biggrin
"When the blocks are all wet, the door is removed, and when the cold air rushes in the house is transformed to a incredibly strong dome of ice!"
*holds up a soft, bear- y mitten and tries to envision how long the claws are, let alone how heavy or strong a bear might be* If a polar bear is unable to break in, how exactly could a person get out?

Sindeira Because everyone knows that we AGAns rock their socks. biggrin " When the blocks are all wet, the door is removed, and when the cold air rushes in the house is transformed to a incredibly strong dome of ice!" If a polar bear is unable to break in, how exactly could a person get out? I think they just meant the top is strong enough that a polar bear could walk over it and not collapse it. They do make a door smile The part where they say "the door is removed" is when they are actually removing some blocks to create the door - not that they were getting rid of the door.

Oh, no- no- no~ According to this blog, as the blocks of ice begin to melt, the moisture runs along the sides and freezes, until the igloo becomes a solid dome.

Sindeira Oh, no- no- no~ According to this blog, as the blocks of ice begin to melt, the moisture runs along the sides and freezes, until the igloo becomes a solid dome. I think maybe the way it's worded might be confusing but it does say they make a door. Quote: Next comes the important bit. An Eskimo takes a very hot lamp inside, then closes the igloo with a block of ice to make everything airtight. When the ice starts to melt, instead of all dripping down to the ground, the water runs with the curve of the igloo and soaks gradually into the ice bricks so that they are nearly wet through. When the blocks are all wet, the door is removed, and when the cold air rushes in the house is transformed to a incredibly strong dome of ice! First they close it with the block of ice, then that block of ice is removed both to create the door and so the cold air rushes into the igloo. The "strong dome of ice" still retains the door. They refer to it as a dome because despite the door it's still relatively dome shaped.

Lilygwen Sindeira It's pleasant to know that a colder climate isn't nearly as harsh, as I had once believed. *actually considers a cruise to Alaska for the first time* But I cannot grasp this li'l fun fact about igloos. Warm you say? No, there's no way.. really? It's all about insulation and how heat transfer from one substance to another. Snow and especially dense snow or ice is actually really good insulator. It keeps the cold weather outside and the room temperature is moderate. There's actually lots of ice hotels and bars. smile i thought this was common knowledge?
