"Hardly. it's supposed to make you wake up and notice that your not the only person in this Fleet that has had or does have similiar issues and gee, maybe has found ways of dealing with that don't require them turning themselves into mindless drugged up zombies once a year."
His voice got a little harder, but he wasn't yelling.
"Ruining your body? hardly. ruining that brilliant mind, perhaps. Personally I think your hoping each year that this will be the time you overdo it. I think you are wanting to die you just ain't got the courage to really pull the trigger. Want me to do it for you?"
James reached down and pulled up his pantleg, and of course, there was a military sidearm.
"Go ahead, give the word. Then instead of honoring the memory of them by living your life to the best it can be, and making them proud, you can just join them. You know how many times I've been on suicide watch? seven. and how many times that I have almost got the job done despite it? five. So don't whine to me about it. you want it done you do it."

Both hands, palms down, hit the desk as she stood to turn and face him. "So you're made of stronger stuff than I am James. You may know how to find another way and deal with what you have in your past but I don't. I've tried and I don't know how. My brilliant mind is what put me in this position that I'm in now."
A bang of hand on the desk, not caring about his gun at all, she'd been shot before it was no big deal to her. "And if you're think I'm trying to off myself then you're wrong! I have too much to do, my echoes need me and I'll be damned if I let someone else take over only to loose them all."
"Go ahead, say I'm whining and what not, how can I not after all?" And then she got quiet, despite the raised voice of earlier. Whoa, dizzy there a moment, not to mention those tremors of hers had gotten worse. "If Fleet had just....given me a little more time to say goodbye...if they hadn't of treated the whole thing like it was nothing more than some stupid training session or inspection. Maybe then it wouldn't hurt so bad...but things just didn't happen that way."
For a moment she looked to him again, that teary look depite no tears. "Why do you have to care so much? I've always been left alone about it...even Erik leaves me along about it. It's not like I can go back and fix what went wrong, Earth is nothing more than a far away place now. I should of left everything dealing with it behind on it." Of course a look out the window to said planet.

"If you haven't figured that out yet, why I care so much, then you might not ever figure it out."
He put his gun away, and his voice was rather soft.
"Fleet back then was run by the military. and the military gave you alot more than it gives it's own. that's why we were dogtags. so that if we die, the guy next to you and just rip them off your neck so they know who to send that 'we're sorry for your loss' letter and flag to. half the time they don't even care enough to look for a body to bury. I'm not saying it's right. and I'm not saying you have no buisness feeling like you do. But I'm afriad, we're going to find you next year in your room, with that bottle of pills and I'll be the one identifying a body."
He didn't know what else to say, and didn't want to upset her again, so he left as quietly as any ghost, heading to Radiance. he coudl use a drink right about now.

Upon his leaving the desk was duly tipped over, sending the turned down pictures on it's top scattering to the floor, glass cracking in two of them. Anger was back again. After five years, this was a new thing for her. Honestly even with her so called brilliant mind she couldn't figure out why now people cared.
Maybe it was because she let them so close this time, they had stuck around this time when usually they were gone long before now. That had been an aspect of her life she accepted...and now it was being turned upside down firstly by James Moira, and then Lilia Nickko was backing him up.
Moving over to her computer she sunk down in the chair and fired up her systems. She needed a distraction...and she needed to prepare for Board. Whether she would be alone for it or not was the issue...but she had to prepare for both scenarios...last time seh went to Board that almost shipped her back to Earth.

"Oh I don't know. On Earth there's clubs you can go and dance at. They are so much fun and bars that you can sit in and drink disgusting drinks while you smile and talk to strangers. But if you go with friends you can have a fantastic time. I did."
And that's where I met DJ. And told him everything I told him. An dI wasn't even souped up on alcohol. Shaking her head she tapped her fingers on the file and shook her head, "Or not. Maybe we should just gete everyone together for a movie night or something. Just something to chill for a few hours, take away some of the stress of the job."

Hm, cut out of work early, take in dinner and a movie. Follow up with drinks in someone's room. Maybe play a game or two or something. Ever walk the cruiser when they shut it down for the 'night'?" Indeed, the station move independant of teh earth's orbit around the sun. And didn't rotate itself. Therefore, the sun was always shining...behind specially coated glass that was. Night meant the cruisers were totally locked down and sun was kept out.
"That's some fun scary feeling right there."

Lillia looked at him for a moment then blinked. "Cut out of work early?" The concept was foreign to her. She never left work early, late all the time, but never early.
"We can do that?" Her eyes were round at the prospect. That might actually be fun.

He laughed at her expression. "Yeah we can do that. Have you ever seen a schedule in this place? Honestly people take time off all the time. We all have set tasks to do and when we're done we can go home. Ever notice there's never more than a dozen techs in the labs really?"
That was amusing, it really was. "Give Trevy a little push and convince her thigns won't melt down over night and the echoes are fed and even she's free as a bird."

"Hmm...well that's interesting." Schedule? What schedule? I get up, I come into work and I start working. And when I finish just about everything I set for myself to do or I get hungry I leave. Never really took off early, too much to do.
"Wow, that's kind of surprising. Jelly is always here before me and somtimes she leaves after me. But I suppose it wouldn't hurt to take off a few minutes ealry one day."

"She's usually first in last out...sometimes she doesn't leave, sleeps right wherever she drops. It's kind of cute to find her in the mornings, papers and what not stuck to her cheek." A little chukle at the image of that in his head.
Then another laugh at Lilia and a shake of his head. "You're jsut as bad a worker as she is, do you know that? Am I going to have to start sedating you?"

"One time we fell asleep together and didn't realize it. I thought she'd left and she thougth I'd left. I don't know how it happened but it was quite a scare the next morning."
Anothe rshake of her head, "I'm not that bad. I do take time to sleep in my own bed. I've only fallen asleep in here three times. Honest." She crossed her fingers thinking of those two times she's fallen asleep outside the Echo enclosure. Those didn't really count, right?

"I can imagine how scary that it. In fact...I think that's happened a few times to us before too...though we knew we were both there and it was still scary as hell in the mornings." Ah yes Erik was all laughs now.
"Well I'm keeping an eye on you. And you know I love to sedate people. Serial Sedatist."

James was in one of the local bars on Radiance, halfway through his second Bahama Mama, and rather frustrated. James wasn't a well..nice drunk. which was why he wasn't drunk yet. only about halfway there.

"I can imagine. Jelly always has this cowlick thing going on when she wakes up in the morning and I know I'm not a pretty sight either, especially when you roll around on your desk and get paper clips stuck in your hair and notes from files stuck on your cheeks and forehead."
She batted her eyes and said, "You wouldn't sedate me Erik. I'm too pretty."Though a giggled and a kick of her feet before she leaned back in her chair. "I just want to have some fun. It's been too long."

Mr. Sunshine as he was nicknamed plopped down in a bar stool next to what seemed to be a getting drunk in progress Moira. Ohhhh man, that couldn't be good. And being of his personality type...well he had to go cheer everyond and thier brother up now didn't he. A look to the tender with a smile. "Screwdriver please."
Then a look to James, crossing his arms on the bar, slight whir of gears in his wings easily audible from fidgeting or increases and decrease in pulse rate. "You look halfway down the drunken road. Don't think I've ever seen that on you."
"Oh it's pretty in an office supplies way." He gave a laugh, rocking his cahir sligthty as he swivlied it to prop a foot up on the corner of his desk. Then a laugh at her. "Oh yes I would, the prettier the better. You'll look so angelic all passed out." Okay he knew how to be creepy sometimes.
"But of course. All work and no play makes us not only dull but probably makes us go insane too. I dreamed about binary code for a month straight once. It was horrible..."
