Ironclaw nodded, "So your thirty-one then?" He took another bite, "What would you say is the roughest situation you've gotten yourself out of in those fourteen years?"

"putting up with me of course" Halcyon said jokingly with a smirk on his face.

Ironclaw chuckled, "Of course." He scanned the area, the road infront and back, and briefly checked the sides to see if they were essentially alone on the road, and Ironclaw saw none but them for the moment. "I suppose before we get to much further I should make sure you're okay with me coming along on this adventure, I was not comfortable revealing myself in the tavern, and do remember ones past is ones past and inevitable heritage falls into the past, so please don't hold that against me." Ironclaw kept wary eyes on them as he drew back his hood revealing his dark Drow complexion, his white hair tied back, and his red eyes. He dropped his hands near his waist, keeping open, but preparing for the worst.

"And here I thought you were hideously disfigured or some such. I've met bad people and good honest goblins in my time. I've learned to put things like heritage aside." "Halcyon kept walking as if nothing important had transpired here.

"Good, as do I, though I do prefer to err on the side of caution with people I've just met. Responses tend to be highly...erratic. In fact a friend, though I suppose that might be a bit of a strong term for it, an old associate of mine originally was torn between the idea of killing me or talk to me when he first saw me. The only thing that kept that fight from happening was my bear, not for any fear of fighting it, but because he was a forest elf as it were. Figured I couldn't be too bad if I befriended a wild beast." Ironclaw chuckled and shook his head. "Those were good times then."

"Hmm," Ganner said. "I've never worked with a drow before. Nothing against you, of course, just haven't ever had the opportunity. Though your people have a reputation for being not the easiest of people to work with also. So, how do you find yourself walking down a road just north of a small town with a couple of sell-sword adventurers? If you don't mind my asking."

"Well opportunity of course and perhaps a portion of luck." Ironclaw chuckled as he let his red eyes fall upon Ganner. "I was working my way cross-country and had heard about the situation up North. I overheard your party and thought I'd take a chance with you. It certainly helps being accepted when you're not a lone Drow as well." He grinned a little, "And as far as my kinsmen go, they aren't all peaches and rainbows to work with. After all I had to deal with them for more than three quarters of my life."

"The way you say that makes it sound as though three-quarters of your life is a substantial number of years." Ganner said. The group continued to walk down the road as they talked, maintaining an even pace.

Ironclaw, "That's because it is, and I'm undercutting it by a few decades." He chuckled a little. "So how did this group of yours form?"

"Well, I found Halcyon here half-dead in the forest and helped him make it to the village we were just in. Alister was there and healed Halcyon, then the three of us rescued a bunch of kids from some goblins that attacked the town. And then we met you. Now that I stop and think about things have been happening really fast lately." Ganner said.

"Events usually do once they start coming together." Ironclaw chuckled, "Sounds like a fortunate series of events for those kids and the village. Be happy." Ironclaw smiled.

"I am glad. I know how it is to lose a family member. I don't wish that on anyone." Ganner said. "This is why I do this job. To help people that don't have the means to help themselves." Ganner chuckled. "Of course, the gold and women don't hurt either."

Ironclaw chuckled, "No, the gold certainly is a nice benefit. Helps us do our job better and help more people. Perhaps when this is over we'll have to have a chat about your future plans."

"Oh, I imagine my plans for the future include more of the same, just with more gold and better equipment." Ganner said. "I plan on doing this job until I can't anymore, hopefully by then I'll have saved up enough to retire comfortably. Either that or I'll be dead. In which case I intend to go out gloriously."

"Sounds like a good plan." Ironclaw flashed a grin and nodded. "We will have to have a chat after this you and I...perhaps the others too."
