It may get to tedious. Not all of us are going to work at the Ministry. For example, I'm going to run the Inn as well at continue to Teach. And I don't think we should add that until we get everything up and running correctly.

And until there's more grads. There's only a couple at the moment, so when the subforum opens RP may be rather slow for a little while.

Yes, that's true as well. There are only a handful of Grad and Honorary Grads from each House. So, until some more people Graduate (I know some are waiting on the Forum to be up and running before they Graduate.) I, don't think it's a good idea now. However, I like the idea! Once things are up and running and active maybe we can add something for Ministry Workers.

Nope. Lyra and I have been busy with the HM and I have been busy with classes and DC. With Icee and you gone, I honestly, totally forgot about the event for the end of term. sweatdrop

End of term event should be a party in our new forum as a way top open it up!

We have a new Forum? Now I'm confused. Are you just talking about the recruit thread?

I believe she's referring to the Graduates subforum.

A sort of 'housewarming' party?
Doesn't seem like a terrible idea to me, though the students and elves wouldn't be allowed into any of the housing areas that would be set up.
Of course, that's simply moving the event's location from its usual subforum into the Graduates one. What about contests and games?
(I'm all dry on ideas at the moment, but if anything comes to mind, I'll come back and post.)

We don't even have the RA's up yet. Icee just pmed me today about it and I haven't even gotten a chance to read what she wrote in the Grads forum yet (which I will in the am). I think it's early for a "House Warming" kind of thing. I think that we will have to come up with something else, for this Event. Maybe the forum will be up and running by the start of the next term. Then we could have the "House Warming". However, I think it would have to be one of the events that is only in the Grads forum because, we won't be able to have the students or the House-elfs participate. Unless, we allow it one time but, that could get really confusing with us just setting up everything.

As for other Event ideas, has anyone checked the archives in a while. When we used to do Events, we used to say that the were annual. I know we have kept the PJ party but, I don't know what else what kept while I was gone. Maybe we could have a Second Annual Something and it doesn't have to be an annual type of thing anymore because, that stopped a while ago. So, we could just say the 2nd Blank Event (for example). Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, maybe someone could look through the archives and see something that we haven't done in a while, since everyone seems to be dry on ideas at the moment.

I've got it! A Block party!!!!

One thread that takes place in the main part of town, and a couple game threads.

We could do a lottery, those are really fun and easy to do, I used to do them for Fright week, so we could potentially do that...

Could do a dice rolling game, pick a number and the first person to roll that number wins. Or do a random number generator and the highest number wins...if we do it that way we would limit the number of posts per person so they didnt just keep spam rolling...actually i kind of like that idea.

Prizes could be things to do with the town. We have the names of the RA's but not the street names, so maybe get people to name the streets. If we do a dice rolling game where they have to roll a d10 say, and everyone who rolls a 7 gets the honor of naming a street in the RA of their choice (but predetermine the # of streets per RA so that one RA doesnt have 11 streets while another has 2.
Actually, I'm kind of thinking we have 4 games of some sort, and each winner has the honor of naming just one street in one RA.

Game 1: Lucky 7. You have X amount of days to roll a d10, each person may roll the dice 3 times. rolling a 7 will reward House Points and allow you to name one street in the Gryffindor RA. If more than one person wins, then they can either name the street together, or each name their own street.

Game 2: High Rolling. You have X amount of days to roll a 100 sided dice. Each person may roll once. The highest roll will reward House Points and allow you to name one street in the Hufflepuff RA. In the event of a tie then they can either name the street together, or each name their own street.

Game 3: Last Man Standing. The person running this game will predetermine a specific date and time when this game ends...and PM Adonis with it. When the Block party event is other, the time this game ended will be announced, and the thread will be checked, the person who posted closest to but not after the predetermined time wil be the winner. They will be awarded House Points and be allowed to name one of the streets in the Slytherin RA.

Game 4: I can't really think of a fourth game, but since it would be for the Ravenclaw RA it makes sense that it should be a brainstorm. Perhaps give everyone some time to make suggestions for the street names, then put it to a poll after a few days, each person is allowed to submit one suggestion, and the winning suggestion will get house points and then obviously, that name would be used.

(In case you can't tell yet I think that the RA's should have maps and a list of residents and their addresses.)
Perhaps because this town is just being built each RA can start off with just the one street, and then it can be a yearly event, but next year it could be a celebration of the town cup, and more streets could be "built" each year using this approach.
That way, the event doesn't require the RA's to be up and running. You literally only open up the subforum and hold the event there and use the event itself to create Hogsmeade with more depth and guild input.

The event would then require one main event roleplaying thread that we keep and later move to the event forum, and 4 game threads that we can summarize in the main thread and then throw away later.

Another good game would be a duelling club focussed on questions that have to do with the history of the guild. We could either give it a separate thread, or include it in the main event thread (I prefer this) and have pop up as random questions.
Eg. Who was the first grad?
Who was the first headmaster?
etc, etc.
Each question will award House Points.

Doing it as an event will not only draw people into this forum and bring their awarness to it, but increase guild interest and involvement.

In general, it's a cool idea.

-I don't like game 3 because it is very much controlled by what timezone you're in. We should have games that are fair for everyone.

-Since each RA will have a very low population to start with, I would recommend only one street for now. So if there's a tie, the two people can name the street together.

-There should be a couple rules about naming the streets. Nothing offensive (obviously), and it must be appropriate for the RA (by which I mean don't name a street in Gryffindor's RA Badger street, or something like that). Naming a street after yourself is just a bit conceited. Unless it's a really cool name. wink

-As far as RAs having streets, that should probably be discussed in the grads thread. (I'll post this there in a minute.) I think it's an okay idea. Start with one street in each RA for a while, since there are only a few grads. Eventually, when a street has say 6 or so houses, add another street. The only thing I'm worried about it that it's one more restriction, one more guideline. I'm worried we're getting too many of those.

Tina has a good point about the timing of the event, which brings me to another idea I mentioned: perhaps when the subforum is set up, the guild event can be the Olympics!!! That will be cool and whatnot, and it will probably be best to do it in July or August anyway.

And to answer your question annual events are Yule Ball, PJ Party, Fright Week, Valentine's Day and House Spirit...that's it I think.

About the RAs having maps and whatnot: let's get the initial idea up and running before we make it even more complicated. Tina mentioned the timing issue and I'll have to agree it might be too early to plan our next event on this subforum. Maybe the one after we can do it like that (Olympics anyone?) but probably won't be a good idea to rush it now. Anyone don't agree?

@Angil: it's best that we don't throw away threads. we lock them up and place them in the Tomb.
The History of the Guild part is really unfair if you're geared to questions within the first two years of the guild when there are probably less than ten active members from that time period.

Those are awesome ideas, Angilwingz. 3nodding But yeah, I think it'd be better to do that when we're more set up in the subforum. And I agree that the History of the Guild part is unfair if your going to have many questions going back that far.
