She finally laughed softly herself. "Oh great. I hate drama."
She noticed his smile didn't reach his eyes, though. She tried not to think what it meant that she could notice that about him now, that she knew when a smile didn't reach his eyes.
"What's wrong?"

He chuckled at her, shaking his head softly. "You..." he said, "are so unusual, Evermore." The way he said it was fond, unlike how he would have said it only days before. It would have been a jibe then. He didn't understand this sudden change, not fully.

She heard the fond tone of his voice and was caught quite off guard. He had never spoken to her in such a way before, and it went straight to her heart. It meant a lot to her, even though she didn't quite know what he meant by it, yet. Just the way he said it with such fondness touched her greatly.
She placed her hands on the sides of his face and acted on her feelings. She leaned up and kissed him. It wasn't like a kiss she had ever given him before. It was soft and slow. It was cautious but full of emotion.

When she kissed him, he wrapped his arms around her instantly, gently pressing his lips back against hers. It was still a gentle kiss, but it held all the raw emotion of his passionate ones. He was incapable of giving anything without that sort of emotion, it would seem.

She smiled softly against Ares' lips and moved her hands from Ares' face and wrapped her arms around his neck. His kiss was wonderful. His kisses had never been NOT wonderful, but this one felt special.
When she pulled back slightly after a few moments, she was smiling softly and happily up at him. It was a smile she had never had for anyone before. It wasn't like a friendly smile or anything. It was a special one.
In a way, she knew what was happening between them. But she was still scared to fully admit it to herself. She did not want to be involved with anyone romantically.
But, she was quickly learning, she wasn't as in control of that as she thought she was.
"I don't understand any of this."

He smiled at her, a soft look that was almost unusual on his face, and his eyes seemed to almost shine. "I don't either," he admitted. But he thought that he knew what was happening, whether he understood it or not.
Something was beginning--a reaction almost like a chemical one, that was taking time, but grew stronger each time he encountered Evermore.

Her eyes widened slightly at Ares admitting that he didn't know what was going on, either.
"You don't? You've never.... experienced this before? I guess I just thought that... well, with those other women that you... well, that you experienced something like this before..."
She blushed but didn't move her eyes from his. Had he really never experienced this before? If he truly hadn't, after all this time and after all those women in the past, then this was huge. And he was experiencing this with Ever, and only Ever. What did that mean? Did it matter? Well, yes, it did, but did they have to find the answers right now?
Just the thought that Ares might have never felt this before and that she was the one to bring it out in him made her feel lightheaded, and oddly, it was in a pleasant way. But she couldn't allow herself to get caught up, yet. He hadn't completely admitted that he had never felt this way before. Maybe he just forgot about someone in the past.
Gods, why couldn't her mind just shut up for once?!

{{CRAAAAAP crap crap crap crap! I forgot about Ambrose's note to Lin! Crap! I am going to try my best to explain why she didn't see it, so please suspend belief for a little bit and just go along with it. lol. I'll copy and paste the note on here when I find it.}}
Lin had been packing up a few things that she would need at MFHS. Most of her items that she had taken with her were still there at the school. When she fainted, she must have just been brought to Bai Ching quickly, without any thought to her belongings at MFHS. That was actually somewhat comforting. No one had brought her stuff back, either, so that must mean that they always wanted and expected her to return. They weren't simply shipping her off to her original school.
Lin still had quite a few things here in her room at Bai Ching. Headmistress Krause had wished her to do so in case she ever wanted to come back, even for a visit. It had come in very handy to have things in her room already while she had been recuperating.
While she was packing a few of her items away, she saw a slip of paper fall out of her potion thigh holster as she lifted it to put it in her suitcase.
Her eyebrows furrowed in confusion as she tried to remember what that was doing there. A few moments later, as she detached it from her thigh holster, she remembered what it was. It had been a note that appeared that first night she went to the library searching for ways to bring Dymetri back from the dead. She had been so consumed with what she was doing that, even though she saw the note appear before her, she simply slipped it into her thigh holster next to her potions. She planned to read it later, but she had obviously forgotten all about it.
Lin sat down on her bed beside her suitcase and unfolded the note. She looked at the name at the bottom of the note to know who it was from.
It was from Ambrose!... Oh my! She had never tried to contact him since she had arrived at Bai Ching to let him know what was going on! Her recuperating had occupied her time here, and with the school year just starting at Bai Ching a few days ago, she hadn't even thought of her friends back at MFHS. Half of their school year was already over. Since Bai Ching was on the other side of the world and experienced their specific seasons at different times than MFHS, their school year started when MFHS's was already half over. So with all the commotion of recuperating and seeing her friends again as they arrived for the start of a new school year, she had completely forgotten about Ambrose and most things related to MFHS.
She sighed and began to read the note. She still had no excuse whatsoever for not thinking of Ambrose.
A few moments later, Lin's eyes were wide and she was staring at the note at if she had never seen a piece of paper before.
'I love you. I've run out of ways to say it any other way. I'll be home eventually. Ambrose.'
"Oh.... my...."

((And because I'm too lazy to find Secret's last post as Arielle, I'm just doing this instead.))
Ophiuchus nodded - he had nothing more to tell the Headmistress, simply because he had no more information. He needed to go back to MFHS to find out what was wrong.
But first, he had to go back to Lin, because she wanted to come back with him. Five minutes later, he had recalled his way around the school (somewhat), and had found Lin's dorm again. It helped, knowing a basic skill like tracking auras.
Instead of knocking this time, he simply slipped inside. He didn't think Lin realized he was there right away - she was entranced by a piece of paper she was holding.
Ophi merely tilted his head, debating whether or not he should have spoken up when he came in.

Lin gasped and looked up toward the door when she heard someone come in. When she saw it was Professor Akakios, she immediately got up from the bed and went back to her suitcase. She slipped the paper into her suitcase, she hoped subtly, and started piling the rest of the items in her suitcase.
"I am almost ready, sir. I know we need to leave immediately."

"That's fine, Lin. If we must, I think I would be able to adjust time slightly, just for a minute or two." Ophiuchus closed the door behind him, and leaned against it, waiting for Lin to finish packing.
"I'm not quite sure what happened," he admitted, "but the Headmaster is in quite the mood. I'm probably going to have to sedate him." He spoke calmly, as if he had done this before.

Lin's eyes widened as she heard her professor and closed and zipped up her suitcase. She had never heard of a headmaster being sedated before... but she had complete confidence in her professor and knew that what he would do would be right.
She dragged her suitcase with her and went over to stand before Ophiuchus. She looked up at him and studied him for a few moments. Yes, she still had the fluttering sensation in her stomach when she looked at him, and she admired him greatly.
She didn't know how she felt about Ambrose. But at least she had time to just wait now. She didn't have to come to a conclusion about romance at all right now. She had the right to wait after what happened with...
Well, no one would expect her to make a decision immediately.
"Professor, would it be alright if you dropped me off at MFHS wherever Ambrose is, if he is still at Mystic Fountain?"

Ophiuchus smiled. "Sure thing, Lin." As she was studying him, he had procured a small syringe from somewhere - probably accessed it from a tiny portal to the dimension where his lab was.
When she was ready to go, he rested her hand on her shoulder, and together they suddenly appeared in the hallway of MFHS, right outside Ambrose's dorm door.

Sadness flashed, followed by hardness. "I don't remember the feeling anymore, but you..." He lifted one hand to stroke her cheek. "...You are..." He had no words, so he simply leaned in, pressing a kiss to her lips--one that was full of emotion, but seemed almost hesitant.

Ever sighed into Ares' kiss. She hadn't been expecting this one, and it caught her off guard. She liked it when he did that.
She had been so focused on his words that she hadn't been paying attention to anything else. He had felt this way with someone else in the past? What had happened?
But his kiss quickly silenced her thoughts. She loved how he could do that with her.
She smiled against his lips and even spoke against them. "I'm what?"
Ooh, that was fun, talking against someone's lips while also kissing.
