Though I don't see how; I'm just following logic. Maybe there were multiple gunmen involved in the Kennedy assassination, but if the reasoning and evidence someone has to support this idea is clearly faulty and incorrect (i.e. citing a Hollywood movie as a historical source or failing to observe the laws of physics to explain Kennedy's head-jerking motion after getting shot, et. al.), what can you call a theory which follows this pattern other than "wrong"?
I can see that, but even then calling something right or wrong has a slight mental stigma of people unable or unwilling to hear both sides of an argument. So even if you are absolutely right you still lose a little credibility.

Come on, now you're just making generalizations.

Isn't it entirely possible to call something "right" or "wrong" after hearing all opinions and presentations on various events and phenomena? Socrates did it. Juries do it. And that doesn't mean they were/are unwilling to hear everyone's view or opinion on an issue.

Huh? What? How can anything anybody says be less believable or influential if he/she makes a convincing argument?

Yes I'm making generalizations. That is how you have to treat the majority of the world sometimes.

And it's about the attitude that you exude to others. If a murderer came and told you something that you didn't believe would you be likely to take his word on it? No. And after he proved it you would probably go out and do secondary research becuase you just cannot believe him. It's a lot like that. Using terms like right and wrong make you seem more set in your ways and less intelligent/open minded. It's simple psychology.

No, it depends on the context of what is said and what I already know, regardless of who makes the statement.

For instance, if I were to discover a complete stranger hovering over a dead body (and let's say the victim was stabbed to death), covered in blood, and holding a bloody knife, and then he tells me "I'm not a murder," that is something I wouldn't be likely to believe. But if he were to threaten to kill me next or confess to the crime or both, that would be much more believable.

Why? Because he's a murderer? I may feel like doing secondary research but only because the ideas raised by the individual don't appear complete or convincing. Simply claiming a murderer lacks credibility because of who he is and not what he says is an ad hominem argument and a blatant logical fallacy.

Yeah, if we were talking about things as subjective as what is justice or ethical, but the examples I've raised have all been about historical events and how they occurred, and one event in the past cannot have happened two different ways.

Either there were multiple gunmen who took shots at Kennedy's limo or just one, and with enough evidence you can rule out one of the opposing ideas as simply not being a truthful presentation of the story and, ultimately, is wrong.

Koi, go for it. A car has become a great need nowadays.

Oni, thanks for the complement.

On another note, I went to a literature festival where said girl recited a few poems from Mr. Poe. She appreciated me going, (which I did more out of appreciation for Poe than for her) but she started acting a little nutty, and kidding around about never letting me escape from her literary grasp or something. I told her, "fine, you can stalk me, but at least get me laid.", and she laughed it off as a joke. I guess the direct approach doesn't work anymore.

As for the whole right/wrong argument, I'm with The Wicked One (yes, I know it's "Man", but let me play around with names) on this. The whole credibility loss and close-minded mentality come with subjective matters, not objective things or specific events.

Halloween is a day away...whoo.

I'm not really going to do much.

Marcus has a cool costume, though. He's dressing up as "JB" from Tenacious D and has actually taught himself a bunch of their songs so he can play it.

Pretty cool.

He really scared me the other night, though.

Sometimes he goes and plays roleplaying games with a bunch of people. Usually this is only once a week, and he usually stays out pretty late.

However, I woke up at like 2 AM, and he wasn't there. He'd come home around then, so I was not completely worried. Then I woke up again at 3AM and he wasn't there. I woke up again at 5AM, and he still wasn't there, and there were no messages on my phone.

I was so scared...I called him...and he was still over there roleplaying.

I thought he was dead in a ditch or something.

Who the hell thinks that roleplaying until 5 AM is okay?

-_- And is "roleplaying" the lamest excuse to stay out that late or what?

Sometimes I wonder if he's actually doing something else....and that I'm stupid for believing him.

His faith in you, can only be as strong as the faith you have in him. You know his nature, and you know how faithful he is. There is not much more I could say, that wouldn't be pure speculation

The building where I work almost burned down on Monday. Luckily, the fire fighters got it in time.

That could have been very bad. I can't imagine losing my job because the place burned down.

Has anyone here ever had horrible luck, with their tech tools?

I, for one, can never seem to catch a break.

Very first computer I owned, fried from stress*I could hear the RRRRRRSNAP on the insides of the computer, as it went into eternal rebooting*. Second computer I had, died trying to run World of Warcraft.Third one was so bad, it either froze, or caused the screen to go BLACK, at any random moment(it couldn't even handle Photoshop). With this one, I feel fortunate it has a backup feature. I recently decided to hunt for some AVI to OGG converters, and came across this program, that required installation of it's own proprietary security system, to use all it's functions. After it seemed to be done, the computer immediately restarted, and when I put in my password, for a brief, but horrific moment, came out THE BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH. Luckily, I remembered Vista backs up your computer to moments before you make the fatal misstep, so I cut off it's reboot, and went into it's self repair mode. I swear technology hates me.
