Serieve I think the hosting on some of our banners has expired or something. xp I'm not the only one seeing red X's, am I? Okay. So I got a few ideas on how to improve things, makes stuff more... convenient, accessable, whatever, to both readers and new staff. For one, in each segment, have a link back here to the thread. Example: Put a link in Jaho's Point! What's Your Point? banner back to his thread here. That way he can get feedback and etc, and then do the same with the other segments. With reviewers, we can put a link in the La Revue banner, and links to the individual reviewer threads under their name. Also, start making a habit of putting in the Amazon links. I plan to add a formatting guide to the main post there, and I'll probably do that with the rest also. Basically, stick a lot of convenient links in the draft, and then have a sort of mini guide to reading The Press somewhere, so people are aware of the links and will use them. And with that, the next step would be house cleaning and making the guild a more hospitable place. 3nodding And then it'll hopefullly induce more staff-hiring. ninja EDIT: THE GAIAN PRESS - Issue 22.0all sounds like awesome ideas! Hope we can pull ourselves back together this month. Personally, although I was rushed, I ended up being more productive than past months, so I'm happy 3nodding Oh, and yeah, I'm also seeing the dreaded red x's. I supposed we should start using a new image host?

This is a test. All of the images are uploaded there. It's not an image host, exactly, but I find it suffices for most things.

AIIIIII! You wrote my name in it! n____n (*has just read issue 22*) That's so cool! heart heart I'm welcomed! blaugh
Aha, but, I did come here with a question. Is there any limit on stuff you can review - for example could music, theoretically, be reviewed? If you had like a lyrics rating and a musicality rating (how good it sounds) and stuff....
And what about anime/manga? Do you think that it could be reviewed? It's like a genre unto itself; even here in the Land of No Anime, there's enough stuff for several reviews. But it might not be new enough for some people - like, you'd want to read a review of a book you hadn't read, but if it's a review of an anime you're sick to death of already, you wouldn't want to read it....
By the way, Jahoclave, the kitty is SO CUTE!

By the way, Jahoclave, the kitty is SO CUTE! As far as reviews go, you can pretty much do whatever you want. If music's your thing, than please, go ahead, as long as you have something interesting and informative to say. Theonly draw back is that you'll have to come up with the qualifications yourself, instead of using the normal ones. With anime and manga, it's totally open for review. Granted, it might not be a good idea to review, say, Naruto, since everyone is pretty much already aware of what it is, and already have their own set judgements. Then again, if you're writing a review that goes 'against the grain,' so to speak, that could be interesting too. For an example, lets say you decide Sailormoon represents the social-political struggles of japan at the time, so you write a review from that angle. At this point iut might make a better column that a review, but I think you get the idea. If you're saying something new, different, or eye-opening, that you're set. (don't just make a theory up for shock value, though sweatdrop ) As for timeliness, it is somewhat relevant. I try to write reviews on movies I've seen in the theater during the last few months. However, sometimes it just doesn't work out. It doesn't have to be something that was just released; it can be anything you think the reader would benefit hearing about. Basically, review whatever it is you watch/read that month that leaves the biggest (good or bad) impression on you.

Thanks a lot ^^ your answer has totally cleared it up for me. I like music but I think I'll only review one or maybe two songs that I know I can say something about.
If I do review a manga, it won't be one of those insanely famous ones like Rurouni Kenshin, Fruits Basket, Naruto or Inuyasha; I'll try to do something a little lesser known, like DOLL, Ali Chino or LiLing Po. (Mind you, if it's reached the Land of No Anime it has to be relatively well-known.... still, you get the picture, ne?) I might review one or two UK artists, too - once I get round to reading their work, that is. ^^; I probably won't do any anime since we only have the insanely popular ones here (Yu-gi-oh!, Dragonball Z, Naruto, W.I.T.C.H..... and I think that's it Oo) and I'm too lazy to follow the ones we don't have on YouTube. ^^;
I've just posted a review of 'Yu-gi-oh! The Movie' in my thread - mainly just for practice since you'd have to be a Yu-gi-oh! fan really to know what I'm talking about. I'll probably do a review of one of the gameboy games as well, since I know those well. But first, I want to do a board game review!

enchantedsleeper, I'm really excited to read your reviews! I've been hoping we could deversify a bit, but personally don't know much about games/music/etc.

Well, I'm gonna have a go at whatever ^^ It'd be possible to review websites, too, wouldn't it?
I blew the dust off some of my really old Playstation games and had a go with them - will post the review today at some point. Should be interesting!

*sigh*
Another month of major procrastination.
It makes me wonder where Alicemae is right now.
Does anyone else realize that our 2nd Anniversary will be in less than three months? Didn't our first Anniversay happen just a little while ago?

Didn't our first Anniversay happen just a little while ago? Yeah, I've been here for almost exactly a year! *sigh* It totally doesn't feel like it's been that long. On another note, I have not completely disapeared, and should be getting a review, and possibly an article, up within the next few days.

Well, I have a column and a review written for this month, and I should be editing them tomorrow (want to give them a few days to sit before I look at them again). Once I'm done, I'll go ahead and add them to the draft.

I've got the draft on my comp, but I'll get it in the thread soon. I've been slacking really badly. There was no submissions thread this month (also my fault) so it'll be some things from the Oasis and the Mounds, probably.
And if I can get it to work, Christmas themed. Though Geek Chic doesn't have a Christmas banner. I will either 1) keep it as-is or 2) whip up some shody work. Somehow.
Well, I at least enjoyed my break. I hope everyone else did as well. 3nodding
EDIT: It may be that both columns keep their original banners. I'm not seeing our dear Mr. Broggy.

The draft is almost done I'm just waiting for the columnists and that review (which looks awesome so far--I like how you keep up with the latest movies.)
I guess we're publishing on the first again.
I've spent all day catching up the indexes and the draft, and I also hunted down all the links to each issue (which took a while, and led me to some very pleasant reminiscing).
And assuming I get up and do something next month, I thought maybe some credits to the staff would be nice and more tidying up around here and some Workers-Wanted ads in those forums Lilly left us links to.
And we still lack ads for the Bulletin Board.
And a Beyond the Box is overdue.
So says the woman who puts everything off until the last moment, and is the near-epitome of laziness.
