Nihilistic_Impact Well yeah. It's just that I don't know what level everyone else is doing their mechs at. All you gotta do is look at the mech thread down below the stickies and look at what people are doing. 3nodding Basically, height is size. The bigger your mech is, the more powerful weapons you can fit on it and the less maneuverable you are. The smaller the mech, the weaker the weapons and the more maneuverable Weight is speed and defense. Higher weight is less speed and more defense. Lower weight is less defense bu more speed. My mech is just about ballanced between all of them, with special optional equipment to tip the scales either way.

Huh?
I think, not sure, that's an x-men refrence. While Kraun's is a Mechwarrior one I think.

Yes. Battletech.
Actually, I'd prefer the Helion light mech as a hunter-killer as opposed to the assault mechs like the timberwolf.

Yeah. I'm a tank lover.
What about range and sensors?

Also, as an addendum, Mechwarrior type mechs won't do all that well in there. They're too clunky and solid.
You'd want a mech more along the lines of a Gundam, Evangelion, Armored Core mech, etc. Something bipedal or quadripedal that can move around to avoid stuff.
EDIT: I love the Cauldron Born. heart

Nihilistic_Impact Yeah. I'm a tank lover. What about range and sensors? The basic weapon range for generic weapons are speeled out for all to see in the main thread under Generic weapons. Sensors are left more to the imagination, though you have to try and be realistic about it. Like hiding your position by deacitvating your locator unit and shutting down lesser systems to give off less energy, or use something to hide your heat signature, which is what I did to Jonath.

I usually just close as fast as I can to people. The natural quick speed and supercharger usually makes up for that. The targetting computer plus the ER medium lasers and ATMs usually take out chunks of people relatively quickly.
The only thing I have to worry about is them firing back with heavy weapons like a gauss rifle or ER PPCs. But thats usually after the first round, since theres actually distance. Flanking and getting behind poeple and all that.
When I play with my friends, we do a tonnage limit, so I just use overwhelming numbers of light mechs as opposed to their 2 assault mechs or whatever.
I also made a joke mech which is like... a 60 tonne heavy mech with 37 machineguns.

Artillery unit...
So it'd probably be maximum weight, have four legs to hold the extra weight, have bigass boosters to get it into place on time, and have very little maneuverability. However the legs would allow it to move while firing its massive artillery weapons.
Sounds interesting.

Right...
Too bad there'd be no way to actually get close to it without a decoy because of range superiority.

I doubt I could resist comming in with a Catapult or a Vulture. Hurrah for missileboats. That being said, I will soon be providing a potential opposition for your wonderful little group of humans.
