Nyx: The woman just nods. After you finish your song, she looks at you from the other side of the pump. "Your voice is beautiful," she says. "What song was that? It doesn't sound like any of the songs I've ever heard."
Leina: The bartender is in the middle of the bar, as he was when Sand-Claw left.
Apollo: "I stole food from a merchant, so I must atone for my crimes," Sazey says.

"Ah..." I mutter before falling silent for a few seconds. "Well, that is regrettable, and it seems like an odd punishment. Is it difficult to find work in this town?"

My eyes widen a fraction. Should have thought this through first. "Umm.... It's a song I heard a lot time ago. I can't really remember where, just that it came from far away." Lie! "But it helped me to get through each day when I was living on the streets. I was orphaned when I was very young and no one wanted to bother with an orphan like me." I smile sadly. "So I made do on my own. If I hadn't stolen, I would have died. Then I found I was skilled at assassination. So I made a living off of that the best I could. My various employers were stingy though and I barely made enough to be able to eat every day. I didn't have enough to afford my own home. Then, one day, I collapsed, cold, hungry, and alone. That's where I met my boyfriend. I've lived with him since then. We recently got seperated though and I'm trying to make my way back to him." I frown for a moment before continuing. "I've recently found myself taking care of an orphan. She didn't fall into the mud like a few of us did, so she's with one of the others in our group."

"Damn," I say, and decide to wait for everyone to leave the baths.

Willow: "Yes, that is correct," the merchant says. He smirks when you mention the Challenges. "But of course," he says. "There's not a soul on Ji'on that hasn't heard of the Challenges. What do you want to know?"
Apollo: "No," Sazey says. "The town forces me to work where they see fit."
Nyx: The woman looks at you with wide, shining eyes. "Wow," she says. "You're very brave."
Sand-Claw: You notice Irene sitting outside of the bath house, having not followed the others into it. She looks sad and lonely.

"Not really. I just refused to die. So I did what I had to do."

I sigh slightly once I see the bartender before trying to wave him over so I can get a drink and maybe some food...

I walk over to her, not want to leave her alone. "You look so sad, what's wrong?" I ask.

"Hey, I'm still on the clock about trying to do everything myself! Say, do you know what happened to our wayward traveller, Irene? Bluh... can't believe I didn't consider that..." I reply.

Nyx: "Oh..." she mutters.
Leina: The bartender comes over. "What can I get for you, cutie?" he says, leaning an arm on the bar.
Willow: "Well, I've never attempted it," he says. "But I've heard that it's a pretty harsh area around it, and the Challenge itself is supposed to test your metal, meaning it'll be pretty damn hard."
Apollo: "Starvation," Sazey says. "I'm homeless, and was without food for almost a week."
Sand-Claw: "Everyone left me behind..." Irene mutters, not looking up.
Layla: "All right," Xiao says. "Don't come complaining to me when your wings can't glide anymore from the grime you couldn't get out! As for Irene, I think she stayed outside...I hope someone is with her..."

"Well, no, birds wash their wings hands free!" I say cheerfully. "It looks a little like this..." I continue playfully. I then unfold my wing suddenly and flick them to send out an omnidirectional cascade of water across the room.

I notice that she looks a little downcast from my last comment. "But I guess you could call it courage."
