"Excellent!" Ganner said with a grin and clapped both of the others on the shoulder. "What do you two say we finish up our breakfast, hit up the general store for a few supplies, and then hit the road?"
Ganner was excited, it had been a while since he had put together an adventuring group. He had joined up with a couple of other groups over time, but he always felt like an outsider that way. The group was already made, and he was just added in. This time it was a fresh group of adventurers who agreed on a common goal, who were ready to set out and share the road and each other's company and battle and treasure and glory. Ganner couldn't wait.

A smile stretched across Ironclaw's lips as he sat there a few tables away from the gathering adventuring party. The hood on his cloak was drew up over his head and he looked to the two halflings that were with him; he had come to town with business in mind, recruiting actually, but the thought of a small adventure sparked his interest. "Mazil, Lazim...stay here if you would." The two halflings nodded as the devoured their third breakfast and Ironclaw stood up and made his way over to the table.
"Pardon me gentlemen, if you're heading up to Garriston. Would you mind if I joined you? Always better to travel in a group in those parts." Ironclaw worked to make his voice as friendly as possible, after all, he needed all the help he could get when meeting people.

"Well, I dunno," Ganner said glancing around at this newcomer. The man was dressed all in black with his hood pulled up and concealing his face. Not an inch of skin showed. "Exactly what would you be hoping to get out of traveling together?"

"Frankly speaking, people to fight alongside. One never knows when bandits will take a shot at travelers for a few bits of coin." He gave a slight chuckle, "I can understand if you'd be hesitant to allow me to join you, after all..." He gestured at himself, "I'm sure my appearance is quite ominous, but it is for good reason." He reached over to another table and grabbed an empty chair though he didn't pull it over. "If I might have a seat perhaps we could chat a bit and you could gauge me for yourself."

"I'm willing to give you a chance." Ganner said. He held up his empty mug. "First round's on you, though." Ganner smiled.

"Of course." He chuckled a bit at that and pulled the chair over and sat down. He reached out, holding his hand first to Ganner. "The name is Ironclaw." He would in turn greet the rest as the voiced themselves.

"I'm Ganner Riegan." Ganner said and shook hands with the mysterious man. "I'm just an adventurer looking for a little action, maybe find some treasure and make it big. How about yourself? You seem like the mysterious sort, or is that just an air to get people to leave you alone?"
Ganner was curious what this man looked like under his hood, but he thought it would be rude to ask him about that straight out. Maybe if I dropped something and bent to pick it up? No, that would be too obvious. Guess I'll just have to wait for now. He can't keep that thing up forever.

Ironclaw nodded, "A pleasure Ganner. Myself have been an adventurer for some time, though I don't get out from under the thumb of my business as I use too. Life likes to keep a man busy. The mystery is well, as strange as it might sound, helps me to keep people whom don't need to be hurt from becoming so." He smiled and the whites of his teeth faintly showed through the darkness of his hood.

"So, what sort of skills are you going to be bringing to our merry band?" Ganner asked. "Myself, I am a swordsman with some magical abilities. Halcyon here is a master of stealth and a more than able master of daggers. And Alister is a cleric with powers of healing and not too shabby with a hammer."

Ironclaw nodded as he listened, "One could say that I too am a master of stealth though I cannot claim the mastery of daggers, I'm a skilled combatant both in melee and at range. I prefer to wipe out my enemies before they even get a chance to realize they are about die, but I do not shy away from getting my axes dirty. I bring magics of sorts to the table as well." He would raise his arm to show off the bracer with several wands secured to it. "I've been around for a long time and seen my share of battles both small and large scale." He leaned forward on the table as he put his arm down and chuckled slightly. "I look forward to this little adventure of ours."

"Well," Ganner said as he wiped up the last of his breakfast with a piece of bread, he had been eating between speaking. "We should get heading out then. It's probably about a couple of weeks travel on foot to Garriston from here. We wouldn't want to show up and find out that the party's already over."
Ganner stood and started making for the stairs up to where his room was.
"I just need to grab my things. We'll all meet up outside and then we can be off."

Ironclaw nodded as Ganner stood and headed toward his room, "Sounds like a plan then. He got up and moved over to the table he came from and laid a small bag onto the table between the halflings, "Recruit whom you can from here and move on as scheduled. I'll meet up with you when I can. If you need return to camp and bring a couple others with you. And please do not spend all the money on food this time." He chuckled and clasped each of the halflings on the shoulder, "Good luck you two." Ironclaw grabbed his pack from the floor and headed outside.

Halcyon walked toward the door. "I have a few things to do before we leave. I'll meet you all outside of town." He then walks out and leaves the town in the direction of Garriston. Walks a short ways until he finds a suitable shady spot, then pulls out the skin colored makeup and Ember's Kiss. Using the reflective sheen of the blade, he carefully applies the makeup to cover up his distinctive mask tattoo. Then, he donned his new green cloak with red trim and slung the quiver and crossbow over his shoulder. "There," he said to himself. "that will do nicely Halcyon. That will do very nicely." He replaced Ember's kiss in it's sheath and returned to the road where he awaited his companions.
