Hasuko rubbed her arm and winced. She has a nasty scrape along her left arm from when she fell from Steve's vines tripping her up. She looked worriedly at the cut; blood was still seeping out of the wound. That wasn't good. Steve seemed momentarily distracted by the bitter Angelica leaf she had tossed at it, but for all she knew, blood would probably attract Steve's attention once again. Hasuko most definitely did not want that.

She fidgeted and considered asking Malodore to help her. She knew her friend had an avid interest in medicine and had it noticed her cut, would probably be already offering to administer first aid. She still hesitated though.

This was her first class at her new school and even though she wasn't very good, Hasuko wanted so very much to prove to herself that she could do it; that she could handle whatever was thrown at her. Even giant carnivorous plants that kept trying to eat her.

Looking around, Hasuko spotted some yarrow and breathed a sigh of relief. Yarrow, she remembered, was a good cure-all for all sorts of wounds. Discretely plucking a couple leaves, she placed them on her cut, using a small piece of vine (not Steve's) to hold it in place.

Already the cut was starting to hurt less, which was good because it looked like Steve had finally gotten over its distraction and was attacking again. Hasuko flexed her injured arm and grabbed a dead tree branch, using it to smack the closest of Steve's vines.

Ow, ow, ow. Ok defiantly back to magical herbs, that was the first pure healing herb she'd used from the book and it was obviously not her thing. Or Steve’s. Who knew?

Wanting to get back at Steve as quickly as possible she didn't really put a lot of thought into her next plant grab, as long as it wasn’t a healing plant she recognized then all was good.

The thick leaves of the Chicory she used bounced off harmlessly but at least she wasn't vine-slapped again.

Steve thrashed about. Hasuko watched the giant plant with a wary eye, clubbing any vines that happened to wander near with her tree branch.

She wondered in yet again what had happened to the herbology professor. Was he hiding somewhere, grading and assessing how they handled Steve? Was Amityville Academy really so challenging that dealing with a rampaging plant monster was the equivalent to a quiz??

Hasuko sighed. She didn't hold any illusions that she could subdue Steve and ace the class, but perhaps she could temporarily stop the plant? Or at least distract it?

There was some Black Cohosh growing nearby. It was yet another healing herb, for stomach aches, Hasuko remembered. Not much use there unless... a thought occurred to her. Maybe Steve did have a stomach ache? No doubt the giant plant must be upset with all the random herbs and berries and things all the students had been throwing at it. Perhaps part of why Steve was so cranky was due to them all exacerbating things by attacking it with magical and poisonous herbs?

Hasuko took a deep breath. Well, it was worth a try. Things couldn't possibly get any worse than they already were. She exhaled and quickly picked a clump of the Black Cohosh. She wadded it into a ball and tossed it deftly into Steve's open mouth.

The giant plant temporarily paused in its writhing about and Hasuko blinked in surprise. That had actually worked??

She quickly shook off her surprise and sprang into action, scrambling past the worst of Steve's vines and escaping back onto the greenhouse path, safely out of the plant's reach -- for the most part. Hasuko anxiously looked to see if Malodore had followed her. She didn't want her friend to get eaten either.

Finally out of danger, Hasuko allowed herself to slump some, feeling weak in the knees. That had been so scary! She squeaked and cringed slightly as Steve stirred and the plant resumed its angry thrashing about. Hasuko was still surprised that the Black Cohosh had worked against Steve. Maybe the giant plant really did have a stomach ache after all. She giggled, a high nervous titter, at the thought.

She then sobered. Or maybe Steve was on a rampage because of something else? Maybe it had eaten Professor Cadmus and it had an upset stomach because of that? It certainly would explain why the professor had left his students to fend for themselves against Steve.

Hasuko shook her head, trying to clear her mind of morbid thoughts and feeling slightly guilty at her relief that perhaps battling Steve wasn't a test after all.

Even if Steve had eaten the professor though, Loreto had said something about people escaping Steve just fine even after being consumed. Steve was probably like a really angry venus fly trap or something, holding its still live prey inside of it while its digestive juices slowly ate its victim. Eww.

Regardless, Hasuko couldn't just stand around watching the giant plant. If the professor really had been eaten she should try and help look for him. Or at least try to help her fellow students calm Steve down.

And she would try -- just as soon as she caught her breath and her legs stopped feeling like they were about to collapse under her.

Thinking back on all the plants she had used, Astra decided to go use the Henbane plant again since it had worked so well before, and once she had thrown it steve squirmed again and..grew still? At least he seemed to have stopped moving so much. The fairy blinked at the sight, abd decided that now was a good time to get away from steve before he got angry again, and quickly moved away.

She was really starting to wonder why she kept going to classes at this point. So far, they had not been going well at all. And the she-wolf was growing more frustrated with not finding anything that was doing something to Steve. Clearly, she was going to have to skim through her Botany book again after this. Glancing down the line of labeled herbs, she snagged one that smelled decent to her nose and threw that towards the plant. With a mental groan, she watched as it, yet again, did nothing.

Well, that choice had been wrong again. The she-wolf didn't even stop to look as she ducked a vine and grabbed the first herb her hand landed on, throwing that next. She really really hoped it worked. Or that she'd get something that worked soon.

Israfel was pretty sure at that moment he'd forgotten what he was supposed to be doing. Until another vine almost got him. Then he screamed at went back to the book.

Israfel almost missed her. "Ah. Astra!" He smiled, but not before throwing another round of chicory at the monster plant. "I'm fine. Sort of. For now. Mostly not wanting to die or end up in Miss Cricket's office." He sighed. "I don't want bugs puking on me."
