"Over here," Barth said to Raziel, navigating his way slowly across the peppermint swirls.
Barth was all for warmer, even though he couldn't remember the start of the path being particularly warm.
As Mandy landed with a whomp, he offered her a ring too.
"Yes," he said to Colette. "Let's hope it's not too much like last time."

The lightning dragon was a bit startled when Christof actually started moving, but he didn't shift away when the other student put a hand on his shoulder. He thought for a moment about making some extremely cheesy 'pull yourself together' joke, then discarded the idea. This was srs bsns and all that.
"You good?" he asked the patchwork. "Riley's got the right idea... we should leave."

The warm breeze was intriguing to Malodore as well; the plague doctor made its way over to Riley, Luce following. The little cwn annwn was getting irritated with all this snow - it made getting around so hard! She was contemplating generating a little yellow snow of her own.
"It still doesn't make sense, putting a powerful protector here instead of at the place all our paths led," Malodore said as it approached Riley. The logical disconnect was still bothering it. The vaunted 'Santa Scouts' hadn't done much.
... Other than launch them all out here, but apparently that hadn't been part of their plan.

Riley was already headed in the direction she'd felt the breeze coming from, walking on her own for once because she didn't want to wear Jericho out. They'd need all their strength this time. She slowed when she heard Malodore come up beside her, and altered her stride to match with the plague doctor. It's presence was comforting. She sent it a light nudge, in lieu of a smile.
Oh, I don't know about that. From what I remember our headmaster saying, this path is shorter. Quicker. A direct route to the big man. While this could work in our favor now, if we can manage to get out of here unscathed, it would also be the path needing the most protection. If this was the shortest and easiest path, then we would have been able to maneuver it in less time, and Sandy Claws would have gotten less warning about our coming. We might have even caught him by surprise, if there was no one here to stop us. Her thoughts turned dark, and smoky. Not that it seems to have mattered one bit, in the end.. he wasn't even there.

Crack!
Oh Jack, bones resetting hurt. A lot. Though, thankfully, it faded fast. Pushing herself off the ground and stretching her limbs, enjoying the feel of bruises and cuts being gone, she sent Barth a true smile, "Thanks.". She wasn't feeling at her most eloquent but the one word got the sentiment across. Besides it wasn't like there was anything else of his she could offer to carry, she still had the tent and she knew he could make it down Candycane Labe nude his own power if no Ninja attacked.
Concerns about her health now put to rest Mandy was able to tune into the conversation going on around. A warm breeze? That sounded promising. Hadn't the train been lightly burning after the crash? Maybe it had properly caught on fire now, if so that meant that direction was the way out.
She diliberatly ignored the voice in her head telling her that the train was a bit far away the the breeze to reach them still warm. Let her hope.

The thought that forced its way into Colette's brain put a nice, confused look on her face and the Reaper looked around. She didn't know if she was the only one hearing the voice, but she wasn't about to listen to whatever it was or openly claim that she was hearing things.
Though, some students started heading in the same direction, a different one that before, and she cocked an eyebrow. Was there something she was missing? Either way, she wasn't about to go in some strange direction from some random voice. Even if it was a student, she knew it wasn't there when they originally went down the lane, and didn't think it deserved any consideration.
A silent and dragging, "Yeah.." managed its way out of her mouth as she watched the boil head in a new direction, and she purposely stood back. She definitely wasn't going to that way, but if he wanted to, why should she stop him? He had already been down this way and knew the dangers. Though, he didn't really seem to make the best decisions.. she sighed and quickly trotted to catch up the the distance he had made before she whispered, "That's definitely not the way the map says." The first time she traveled down this way, she told everyone she was going to keep him safe, and Colette felt she should at least try still.
((Fixed in response to Barth replying. Sorry!))

"He wasn't there... and the elves seemed surprised by that, didn't they?" Malodore couldn't physically frown, but the tone was there in its voice as it spoke. "There had to be something beyond mere sugar products there for us... but there wasn't. Halloween produces enough candy on its own..."
Malodore's picture of the situation was very hazy, but that didn't mean it liked what glimpses it was getting.

Roxy_roxanna2 Sin had done plenty of healing for others during the battle against the black scout so she didn't feel so bad when she gave her bell it's final ring to finish healing herself. She had the sinking suspicion she would be needing every last drop of energy she had if she wanted to get home alive. She glanced around noticing some familiar faces and it calmed her a bit. Riley and Malodore were there, and Christof. She glanced around hoping to catch sight of Junko or Alcie but perhaps her friends had chosen to get back via a less dangerous route. She rubbed her arms a bit and sighed, she hated this damn JOYful outfit. She smiled a bit thinking of how nice it would be once she got back to her dorm where she could strip naked and throw this outfit into a fire.
Sin's HP: 17 + 8 = 25 Bells: 1 - 1 = 0 Pills: 1

Riley had taken to ignoring anything those elves said while she was on this excursion, and so when Malodore mentioned their surprise, she missed a step as she took in the information. Quickstepping to catch up, she nodded.
I suppose I didn't really think about that, but you're right. They were surprised at his absence, which means they assumed he'd be there.. are the Christmastown occupants unaware of their loss?
This entire situation was becoming less of an annoyance and more of an intriguing mystery. Now she almost, almost wanted to go back and investigate more. Luckily, something else distracted her from even the thought of such a terrible idea.
Do you.. feel that?
She could feel more than just a breeze of warmth coming from just up ahead. There was a depression, almost like a cavern, ahead. It was so well hidden by the snow, which covered everything in a blanket of white and hid any change in landscape.
What's down there, I wonder?

Raziel heard Barth before he turned and saw him. He watched as he sleepily moved through the crowded lane. He moved over towards Barth so that they would come together sooner.
"It's been a long time! Did you have to fight a crazed elf machine too?"
Looking around, Raziel noticed other students who were hurting a bit more and figured that he ought to help some of them out before the ninja inevitably came. Raziel rang his bells and healed Amrita for 10 health.
Amrita's HP: 11 + 10 = 21

"Have they lost anything?" Malodore pointed out. "If Sandy Claws was meant to be our target, you'd think the Professor would have told us..." More doubt colored its tone. "Perhaps it was just intended as wilderness training...?"

"No problem," he said to Mandy, carrier of his things. Barth's appreciation was not hard to earn, although there usually wasn't much you could do with it. Ringing bells, however, was the least effort-filled thing he'd done the whole trip.
The last time they did this, a ninja attacked them. They'd been on the path for a while now though, and in spite of the crying, yelling, crashing, and ringing...no ninja.
Maybe he was preoccupied with the explosion in the workplace? Or students that had the misfortune to land somewhere else on the path.
"Map?" Barth asked Colette. Oh, right, there had been some sort of map at the beginning, hadn't there? He admittedly hadn't paid much attention to it. His decision making skills were, as she had noted, not the best.
"I have to admit, I'm less worried than I was last time. Lots more students around." More to hide behind. "And yes," he added to Raziel, "we fought a giant robot. It turned into a helicopter. I err, helped. But not too much." He didn't want people to get the wrong impression.

A wilderness exercise. The words felt bitter in her mind as she tried them out, tested the idea. I certainly hope this wasn't all just some test. Though, if that was the case.. she suddenly had a renewed interest in the idea of passing. That meant finding the way out, and she was sure this warmth coming from the area they were walking towards had to be it..
..and she was wrong.
When they'd reached the edge, curls of steam rose up from the churning waters below. She looked down at the odd structure, so cleverly obscured by walls of snow that no one would ever think to look there if they weren't walking in that exact direction for some reason.
She heard a hiss, as a large dollop of snow fell into the waters and was almost instantly melted into liquid. Her eyes widened.
What.. why.. how..
This made no sense. None. And it was absolutely ridiculous. Was there.. a hot spring hidden on the outskirts of Candy Cane Lane?

Ah. This was where the heat was coming from. ...Maybe they were officially off the dangerous and beaten path now. It smelled less minty, anyway. Or maybe his nose was just getting used to it.
"Weren't you saying," he said slowly to Colette, "that you needed to wash some of that dead elf off?"
