My brother and I would be glad to,” Faolan said, bowing in return before turning to his roommate. “Al, we’re going to help this lovely lady gather her things and take them to her room!”
He started gathering up Kokoru’s things, avoiding her… more personal belongings when he could, without waiting for a response. He still needed to check Alamon’s condition, but if he was in need of immediate medical attention, he wouldn’t be on the ground fixing bags. His trodden on appearance concerned Faolan, however. If Alamon showed any signs of pain, he would have to stop what he was doing to see if it was something serious or just Alamon’s lack of exercise taking its toll.

-------The bag was looking very well, now, Alamon noted, fingering what had previously been the disastrous tear. His skillful magery had fixed both that and all the wear inflicted by overuse, leaving the bag in an almost sparkling condition. He'd be smirking arrogantly right now, but he'd tried to get up after seeing the effects he'd induced and had experienced a very painful twinge up and down his battered spine. Now poor Alamon was just slumped over the floor, trying (and failing) to rub his back and holding in check a miserable whimper. Then Faolan arrived, seemingly out of nowhere and, typical of him, tried to help what he probably percieved as a "Lady in Distress" while involving the less-gallantly-inclined Alamon in his foolishness. Of course, Alamon was ignoring the fact that he'd just tried to do the same thing, minus the 'involve the roomate' part. He had a way of ignoring a lot of details when it came down to his bothersome roomate.

-------"Faolan, WHAT are you doing here?" he scowled. Well, tried to--his face was a weird mix of hurting and irritation to those who looked closely, but surely Faolan wasn't that perceptive? The last thing he needed was his knightly friend (no matter how much Alamon denied it, he definitely considered Faolan a close friend) treating HIM like one of his "ladies in distress". Unless it involved ale. Then he wouldn't mind being treated like a weak female at all. He sighed irritably, then started to snap, "I'm not carrying anything up any stairs, stupid! Have either of you even LOOKED at me? Today sucked, I'm tired, I," he stopped, words trailing off. Of course, there was a way all this junk wouldn't way a single pound. Looking at Kokoru and Faolan, he smirked in that irritating "I know something you don't know" expression everyone could recognize.

-------"If you buy my ale, I'll carry everything by myself up to your room. You won't have to lift an ounce," he offered. Hopefully he could remember that spell. It'd been a while since he'd used it.

The innkeeper perked up at Als boast, and chimed in "I'll see that, but only on the condition that, if you can't, you buy a round for the house. Fair?"
PostPosted: Tue Apr 06, 2010 9:59 pm

After that attack, what exactly made you think that I wouldn’t come looking for you? You weren’t at the house, so I thought you might be here.” Faolan answered as the rest of what Alamon said made its way to his brain. His (constantly) irritated brother’s words made Faolan feel the need to walk over, pick up, and carry him home. Of course, that would probably end with a chaos beam aimed at him, and he didn’t exactly desire to go through that again. While he fully appreciated women, he did not want to be one. He would get room. That way Al wouldn’t have to walk very far and he’d most likely be able to avoid a chaos beam situation. However, there were things that needed to be addressed before he did.
Ale is bad for you! How often do I have to say this before you stop tuning me out!? And you will not. I never meant for you to help carry them. I just wanted you to help gather them and then chat with this beautiful woman as I carried her things to her room. You don’t honestly think I’d make you carry anything when you look like people have been walking on you, do you?
And you!” Faolan said as he turned to the innkeeper, hoping that he wouldn’t irritate the man so much that he’d be kicked out. “Don’t encourage him. He needs to rest, not engage in physical labor.

Once her overstuffed suitcase was suitably overstuffed again, she smiled up at the two gentlemen who had assisted her in her urgent hour of need. "Thank you Al, Faolan," She bowed her head to each of them in turn, "for your assistance. I am most appreciative of your help." She offered her packed suitcase to the Faolan guy, he really had some nice lines; defined, like an experienced warrior. She fell deep into plans for future portrait designs when she was pulled out of her thoughts by the boast from the innkeeper. Her mind did a quick retake and she realized that the Al guy had said that he would be able to do it by himself. Intrigued she motioned that she accepted his offer and waited for him to perform what ever it was he was going to do, but then sighed wistfully as she realized that her performance was being taken away from her.

He found himself glaring at the woman, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath to calm himself. It was natural for people to want to see someone in Alamon’s state to do what he proposed. It wasn’t her fault that she had a normal amount of curiosity. Really. And it was ridiculous to get so angry over it. Once he had regained his calm he took the woman’s, who’s name he realized he still did not have, bag. He supposed he didn't need her name, if she did not wish to offer it.
It was only what any decent person would do. I’m glad, however, that we were able to help you.” He smiled at her, hoping she would not see what remained of his irritation. More importantly, he hoped Al didn’t, and if he didn’t Faolan hoped it wouldn’t be pointed out to him. Al would be more than mildly irritated if he did. When that happened everything in his room tended to move. He shivered slightly at the thought.

((Well, looks like this thread is mostly dead... Gonna see if there's anybody wants to keep moving...))

When Coralie slipped out of the mostly-repaired gate, she was faced with several hundred yards of short grass, bordered by old-growth forest, with what began as a paved road inside the gate, lost it's paving and split about half-way to the forest. Two well worn trails went in opposite directions, looking to circle the town, and one beaten track made for the tree line, disappearing quickly.

"Well now, we might as well make our way to my room, if you will." She said as she turned on her heel and made her way toward her room leaving her bag with the other men. She didn't, however, get far enough away for them to hope that they could get away with her stuff. Her Foxbird flittered after her disapproving of her apparent lack of caution about her leaving her stuff just lying there like that, but she wanted to know if these two men were truly honest folk.

He grabbed the rest of the bags from their place on the floor and hurried to catch up to the woman, grateful that she hadn’t given Al time to object to anything he had said. He would thank her for it, if it wouldn’t cause trouble for them all.
He decided it would be best to take his attention off of the subject, least it somehow encourage Al to do something about it. For some reason he always knew when Faolan was worrying about him. Looking for something to distract his thoughts, he noticed the woman’s distressed Foxbird.
Hey there,” he said softly, trying to get the creature’s attention. Animals were often more aware of the world around them; it was possible that a crisis was about to occur, or that the Foxbird’s master was more distressed then she let on. “Is there something wrong?”

-------Alamon jumped at the inkeepers sudden intrusion. When had he started listening in? They weren't THAT loud, were they? He could have sworn that inkeeper had been all the way behind the counters dealing with a crowd... No, the crowd had moved on. It wasn't how loud they were; it was how long the happenings had dragged on. By now, many of the other patrons had either left the room or had noticed his magic (or the arrogant boast), and were staring. Idiot tourists.

-------"Ah... his brows furrowed. How much would it be if he failed? He only had so much money to offer; long hours didn't mean long paychecks, especially if you were a government drone. Then again, it wasn't as if he had anything else to spend it on at the moment. Maybe he'd get it and wouldn't have to worry about buying all that ale. Maybe he was even more retarded than Faolan with this kind of thing. Thinking of Faolin... He looked up to find that his overly-helpful friend had just taken his wagering items and was carrying them away.

-------Alamon scowled, growling, "Faolan! Bring those cases back here right now so I can fill the d*mn wager!" Knowing Faolan, he thought he was doing Alamon a favor. Gah, Alamon needed a drink! He sighed, rubbing his forehead in a vain attempt to soothe away his unfortunate headache. Not feeling any immediate relief, he stilled his fingers and tried to focus. How DID that spell go again..?
