AllianceSJR I was thinking about the "villian" speculation earlier in the thread. Who says that it has to be some sort of outside power? Think about it. The population fears and hates the Abberants, partly because the government made them out to be complete outcasts from society. On purpose. What if something goes wrong? What if (for example) someone's power does something totally devastating that causes the people and the government to freak? They'd want to shut down the program. Unfortunately for all of us, that means total eradication. The Abberants may have to fight the government and civilians alike for the simple right to exist. The various governments apparrently created the Aberrant programs as another arms race: "We can't let them have stronger or more Aberrants than we do, lest they manage to find some way to use them to upset the precarious balance of power." Or maybe as a deterrent. They won't use theirs if we don't use ours. 'Course, that says nothing about using them against your own populace. Where exactly have these infiltration missions taken place? Who have been the targets of the assassinations? ninja That said, it'd probably be far too expensive to wipe out a current Aberrant program and start from scratch. It'd be like retiring an entire line of extremely useful fighter craft - while you were tooling up the new ones, your ability to dominate the air would be seriously diminished. Not to mention the possibility/likelihood of those aircraft dropping all of their ordinance on targets of opportunity within your borders while doing so. That metaphor's probably stretching a bit, but these individuals are regarded as weapons. Expendable weapons.

Oooh. Actively engaging in missions on foreign soil in direct conflict with other Aberrants. I wonder how the State Department feels about that, particularly if/when an agent is caught/killed. I like the in-house intelligence division. It could allow Moebius to keep Aberrants on who aren't suited to other purposes.
Liz turns into a kitten! whee I wonder how practical that'll be in the field, if she can't take her clothes with her.
Weston flies! Man, I love this guy.
Sandra's power is demonstrably scary. I wonder which division she's going to end up with?
Def and DV are squaring off again. I hope it goes better than the last time.

Uhm, Gendou? I think you forgot some of the chapter. At the end, when the teachers spar, and it's super awesome and crazy and stuff, like, blows up, kind of? Yeah, I think you forgot it when you submitted the rest, 'cause it's obvious that that's what you were gonna go into.
So yeah, you can go ahead and put that up there now. ninja
I cannot describe the depth in this chapter and in what some of these characters are doing. I love it.

And although the kids don't know it, the problems are really beginning.
PR, Intelligence, and Wetwork are making their choices, and splitting things up.
Either place they go, it's going to be horrifying.
Whiteout's choices are obviously limited, but neither are good. She's the only one I'm afraid is going to end up as Doll's toy, rather than anyone else's.
Then again, I'm beginning to get a Roy Mustang vibe from both Meghan and Rowan, so we'll see.
