Atop Destiny Tower
After some scouting around, Ash and Liryn both agreed that off the ground would be best and picked Destiny Tower as the chosen location for their ferry point (this may have had something to do with the fact the HQ is directly underneath) although Liryn is going with the off the ground explanation.

  • Ferry 2 - Liryn, Guardian Cat
    Ash, Guardian Cat
    ------Athene (already has a pearl)
    ------Irene (already has a pearl)

All comers are welcome to have post in one of the three ferry threads to receive a Moon Pearl of their own (if a senshi), meet the Ferry Mauvians and senshi, and go to the moon! If you chit chat a bit, this RP would count as a reg (remember 450 words!).

Although Athene had mentioned leaving the coffee until the Black Watch was set up (if it was set up), he'd spent the days leading up to the 12th as Arian dithering about it before eventually opting to 'borrow' the large thermos from the apartment after he'd looked up the specs of the flask on Amazon and read in the description that the 2.5 litres that the flask held was apparently equivalent to about 15 or so cups.

He knew it wasn't much and knew that for all he knew that he, Liryn, Ash and the second senshi (Irene) who he'd heard had also volunteered to act as ferry but had never met might have a lonely time of it up as they waited on top of the Destiny City tower to see if anyone would turn up and that when the 15 or so cups were done, then they'd be done.

But Athene also knew that even if no one came that he'd probably want a cup for himself and mayhaps Liryn and/ or Ash would appreciate one of the chocolate chip cookies the small tub-style container that he'd stashed in his satchel on impulse before slipping out of the apartment and were sitting there with the 15 disposable cups that he'd counted out from the cheap cups that he'd picked up earlier in the day.

It had meant emptying out most of the things that he usually carried in his satchel, but he'd kept in a small packet of band aids and had managed (just about) to squish his note pad and a pen back in.

He'd made good time to the tower and had met Liryn at the base as agreed and after carefully setting down the thermos and container of cookies, he took out his phone and tapped out a quick message:

SMS (Athene)
Hi Thraen, Liryn and I are both in position on top of Destiny Tower
Athene

After hitting send, he settled down to wait - after all he and Liryn both had time until the meeting started at three.

Quote:
oocly Athene has about 15 cups of coffee with milk (but no sugar) in his flask (the last cup may be a little small) and 20 chocolate chip cookies in his container which he's happy to give out to anyone who asks for one.

As the days moved closer and closer to the 12th, Liryn found himself getting more and more excited since he was going to get to see the Moon.

There was work to do first as Athene had said that he would be needed to help aura block, but the little bobtail mauvian was looking forward to being able to go to space.

Not that he didn't still want to go see Athene, because he did and was hoping that Athene would eventually take him there - but the Moon was exciting.

He'd done his part in looking for a good location, but eventually both he and Ash had agreed that off the ground would be best and that at the top of Destiny Tower would be perfect.

Now though was waiting to see if anyone would come, although hopefully not too much waiting.

He settled himself next Athene and wondered if he could get some scritches whilst they waited and he aura-blocked - after all scritches were always good.

I've assumed that Athene knows that Irene is going to help ferry, but does not know her by name, but let me know if you want me to change it :3

There was a lot to do to prepare for the meeting. Irene spoke to ********* about it first, as she had promised Thraen she would. She knew that the guardian would understand, since they had talked about her desire to bring people together several times before. In her excitement, though, she never quite remembered to ask ********* for her assistance with transportation.

She spoke to Iris too, but in far vaguer terms. It would be best, she decided, to serve as a representative for her team, at least initially. Her Captain was wonderful, but had the tendency to rub people the wrong way. It would be awful to bring her along, only to have the whole thing fall apart when people started offending each other.

And then, finally, the night arrived. Lydia had made arrangements to sleep over with Ellie and Anemone, so she could have an easier time sneaking out. After her alarm woke her at half-past two, she set out, powered up, and took inventory. Her purse had its usual supplies: inhaler, epipen, over-the-counter medications, and cough drops. She also had a plastic bag from Maize Maizier, stuffed with pastries that were part of the build-up to the restaurant's upcoming Bastille Day celebration.

She had been surprised, and a little intimidated, to learn of the ferry point she had been assigned to. It wasn't that she was afraid of heights, but the mere thought of climbing all those stairs was enough to make her chest seize up. Fortunately, there was an unlocked door and, better still, a functioning elevator. It brought her to the top floor, and from there it was easy enough to get to the tippy top of the tower.

Despite her quick pace, she was not the first one there. Which, Irene decided, was just as well. "Good morning!" she called out, approaching the senshi. Something about him looked familiar, though she couldn't quite figure out where she might have seen him before. "I apologize if I'm late. Has anyone else come yet?"

The suggestion for the ferry point to be at the top of the tower had come about for a variety of reasons... it was a central, easy to find location, it offered a clear view in all directs to watch for enemies approaching... and not least of all, it was right above HQ. Frankly, Ash was tired of hiking across the city every time there was a bit of senshi business to attend to. Cats did not, by their nature, have terribly long legs, and without a bonded senshi to carry her about, there was no way to get any where save under her own steam. The chance to simply ride an elevator to the top of the tower was a wonderful thing.

It took a little while though to wait for the dang thing to come down to the first level though. Ash sat impatiently on the floor, staring at the numbers as they counted down. Her tail flicked back and forth until the doors dinged open and she was in side in a smooth jump, leaping to hit the top button before she finally settled back for the exhilarating ride to the top.

The view when she got there was truly beautiful... the night sky scattered with stars on this clear night, the lights of the city echoing them below. Bouncing out, the guardian felt senshi signatures and she oriented on them, padding across the top floor to join her fellows for this important night.

"Hello my loves!" Ash called as she turned the corner, catching site of two senshi she didn't know and Liryn, whom she did. Well, it looked like they were all set up here... Maybe it was time to send a message off to Thraen and see how the other points were fairing.

Despite bringing a thermos of coffee to dispense out to those who might want it, Athene hadn't thought to pick up a cup of the stuff for himself and had been seriously contemplating helping himself to a cup of the thermos' contents when he heard a voice hail him and on turning spotted a purple-haired super senshi walking towards him and carrying a bag.

For a moment her 'Good Morning' confused him a little, until he remembered that it was past midnight and so technically morning. "Good Morning" he said, his quiet voice friendly. "We've" and at this he indicated Liryn, "Haven't been up here that long ourselves." Without a watch it was hard to tell just how long he and Liryn had been up on the roof, but it hadn't felt like that long. "I'm Sailor Athene and this is Liryn, but feel free to just use Athene. Are you..."

His voice tailed off distracted as another voice hailed them, looking around until he spotted a visor-wearing cat approaching them. It seemed like Liryn recognised her though if his cheerful "Hi Ash" was anything to go on.

He waited until the cat was closer, before repeating "Good Morning. I'm Sailor Athene and this is Liryn, but feel free to just use Athene if you want" before looking back to the purple-haired senshi. "Are you here for the Moon meeting? And would you like some coffee" he looked over at the cats not sure if he should offer them coffee and even less sure that he wanted Liryn to have any of the stuff and then eventually settled for adding "I've got some cookies with me too, if any of you want any."

Liryn had given the approaching super senshi a curious look, the purple-haired senshi not one that he'd met before "No, we've not been here that long. Are you here for a Moon ferry or to help ferry?" He gave the bag she was carrying was an appreciative look as Athene made introductions, easily smelling the pastries within from where he was.

The purple-haired senshi was quickly followed by a fellow mauvian and he greeted the familiar visor-wearing cat with a cheerful "Hi Ash" as he got to his feet and walked towards her, although the majority of his attention on making sure to suppress the two senshi auras.

Introductions happened quickly, and Irene couldn't help but feel just a little bit left out. It seemed her companions all knew each other already, or at least knew of each other. In contrast, she only recalled one of them, and she couldn't remember where from. It made her sort of sad, even though she knew none of them was excluding her in any way. Then she scolded herself for mentally. She could have brought people she knew, but she had specifically chosen to leave Iris out of this. As for *********... oh. She'd totally forgotten to ask, hadn't she? Oops.

Putting that aside, it was good that these people were already acquainted. It would make the net they were trying to construct that much stronger.

That thought made her feel a little better, enough to get on with her end of the introductions. "Yes, I'm here to help, if I may. I'm Sailor Irene, and it is a pleasure to meet you, Mister Athene." As was her habit, she dipped a curtsy, then looked again at the cats. She usually referred to those she didn't know well as Mister or Miss, but that seemed so odd to do for a cat. But it would be rude if she treated them differently just because of their species. "And you as well of course, Mister Liryn, Miss Ash." She could only hope she got their genders right; all she had to go on for the cats was their voices. And Athene had hair that would make any girl jealous. Unless he was- but he didn't sound like-

It was a shame there was no Emily Post of the senshi world. A book on manners for the costumed crimefighter would have been invaluable in a situation like this.

Rather than dwell on her possible mistakes, Irene decided to move on, and let the others correct her if necessary. "I appreciate the offer, though I admit I seldom drink coffee." When she did, it was usually some sort of frothy drink that was more cream than coffee. It would be impolite to dismiss his offerings entirely, so she thought for a moment and then went on. "I may take you up on one of those cookies later. I didn't think anyone else would bring anything, which I can see now is silly, but now there's plenty." She hefted the bag in her hands. "French pastries from work. Please help yourself if you'd like- there are plenty to go around."

The Burmilla smiled, her tail flicking as Liryn greeted her by name. The senshi introductions came quickly and Ash beamed, pleased to add two new names to her contact list.

"I'm sure you know who I must be, but my name is Ash and it is a pleasure to meet both of you darlings! I'm the one that sent out that message about the Black Watch and I've been helping Kallichore with updating the primer." Joining the group, Ash made sure to sweep around Irene's legs to arch and rub against her like any cat would. She refrained herself from offering the same affection to Athene, since Liryn was right there and she had no idea how possessive he was of his senshi. It was better to err on the side of caution and just give her attention to Irene alone.

The talk about cookies and pastries certainly caught the cat's attention and she perked up, angling her head back with a little 'prrt' of noise from her throat. "Oooo, those both sound lovely, I would love to have some of both!" She chirruped up, before remembering there were things she needed to do. Whoops.

"Right! Where is my mind... Would you two please give me your phones? ********* and I have worked out an upgrade for them and I would like to do yours while we're waiting! Liryn, if you'd like to watch, I can show you how to do it yourself." The silver cat said as she smiled brightly, settling on her backside with her tail curling around her paws. Though Liryn could have handled two signatures on his own, Ash divided her focus to add her own dampening to his. In the event more senshi arrived, they would be ready for them.

Irene's use of Mister Athene in her greeting reminded Athene a little of how Nysa had greeted him the first time they'd met and for a moment he found himself briefly wondering how the Neptune Knight was faring, having not seen the teal haired Knight since they'd met by chance in that big battle against the Shade Queen Finsternis.

It was perhaps because of that that his smile, whilst small was slightly wider than normal. "Pleased to meet you Miss Irene, although honestly just Athene is fine" he replied as he gave her a bow in return for her curtsey. It had been a while since he'd been so formal. Most of the people he'd met since moving to Destiny City hadn't appreciated it and over time he'd found himself for the most part dropping it, but he'd been drilled in manners and courtesy by his grandmother during his time spent with his grandparents as Arian and the lessons had stuck.

"And you too Ash." Whilst he had slipped into formality for Irene, he had been uncertain about whether he should do the same for the visor-wearing mauvian given that ones that he'd met to date had been the ones who hadn't appreciated it - in fact if he remembered right ********* had flat out told him not to stop addressing her as 'Miss' ********* on their first meeting. He put thoughts of the silvery-furred guardian cat aside, the same way that he'd put aside his previous thoughts of Nysa.

His smile turned slightly rueful, the ruefulness slipping into his voice as he admitted "I almost didn't bring anything, since I could only bring what I could carry fit in here" he indicated his satchel. "And the thermos and I was worried that I'd have too few things. I'm glad I did though." Especially since Irene had also thought to bring food which meant that they should have plenty of things to offer between them should anyone one come to their ferry point.

"I'm also glad for the help" he admitted to Irene and he meant it - after all whilst travelling to and from the Moon had never tired him the way that his one trip to his asteroid had, he had also only ever taken one person to and from the Moon before this and had no idea on the effect that potentially hopping to and from might have. "And I'm okay for now but I'll probably take you up on that offer of a pastry later."

At Ash's request for a cookie, Athene slipped out two cookies from his container before handing the first to Ash and the second to Liryn figuring that the little bobtail might want one as well. Ash's mention of a phone upgrade that she'd worked on had him curious but he dutifully summoned his bronze and jade coloured phone with the moon pearl attached to it before laying it in front of Ash too. "Here." Mention of phones reminded him of something and he looked over at Irene again before asking "Would you mind if I scan you into my phone contacts?" Adding "Once Ash is finished with my phone that is" hoping as he spoke that he wasn't being too forward in asking.

-------------------------------------------------

"Please to meet you too Sailor Irene" Liryn said cheerfully at the purple-haired super senshi's introduction. "I'm glad you're helping too and I'd love to have one of your pastries - they smell really delicious." A cookie sounded good as well, but he hadn't had to ask for one since Athene had already gotten out two from his container - one for him and one for Ash.

He had been settling down to start eating the cookie, but he looked over in Ash's direction at her mention of an upgrade for the phones before picking up the cookie in his mouth and padding closer to her before setting the cookie back down.

"*********?" The name wasn't one he was familiar with, before adding as Athene handed over his phone. "And I'd love to watch."

He settled down to see what Ash would do with the phone - after all tinkering with phones sounded like it could be as fun as tinkering with clocks was.

Come to think of it, there had been a few messages on her phone from someone called Ash. It was nice to have a face to put with the name. Especially such a cute, furry face! Irene giggled as the cat's fur tickled her ankles, and bent down so she could offer some chin-scratching. "It sounds as though we are indebted to you for the work you do, Miss Ash. Thank you very much!"

It would have been fine to leave it at that, and maybe go into a discussion of pastries, but then the phones were brought up and the box of goodies forgotten as Irene bit her lip nervously. She knew this would come up eventually, but she hadn't expected it to be so soon. And right on the heels of declining the coffee, too! "Ah... well, you see, ********* had mentioned that she had helped with an upgrade, but she said that it was a touchscreen, and, um." She held up her hands, showcasing the long gloves that she wore. Taking them off every time she wanted to check her messages would get old really fast. "We thought it might be easier if I went on using the one I have, since it's got a physical keyboard. That way I can send out texts quickly, if the need arises."

Irene was far from the most tech-savvy senshi. She only used her phone for messages and the contact list, so she could keep in touch with people. If it had internet capabilities, then it would be a different story... but considering what she'd use them for, it was probably for the best that it didn't.

"But I'd love to watch you perform the upgrade on Mist- on Athene's phone, if I may." She was so flustered that it took her a moment to remember that he'd asked her to drop the "mister" part. "Not everyone has the same restrictions I do! And I'd be quite glad to be scanned when Miss Ash is finished, if I may scan you in return." The more connections she could make during this meeting, the better!

The guardian was pleased to accept chin scratches and she rubbed her face against the hand that descended towards her, letting out a pleasant little chirrup as her tail curled back and forth. The offering of a cookie was a horrible distraction, but Ash controlled herself to taking a nibble of it while Athene got out his phone to set it in front of her.

A little concentration and suddenly a new phone fell out of subspace, popping into reality to rattle against the floor next to the old phone. Ash frowned when Irene mentioned not being able to work the phone with her gloves, applying herself to prying open the old phone to reveal the mauvian technology inside.

"You can't use it with your gloves? That's... that's..." Something she had never considered. Some Earth technology did that, but this was Mauvian they were talking about... "Did you try it with one of my phones? It should work, I mean... its not using the same technology that you're familiar with from Earth. Senshi phones are unique, Mauvian creations, tied into your power as a senshi... I made the screens to sense your power, rather than the electrical current in your skin like an iphone. If its really not working for you, I'm going to have to look into a version for those senshi who, like you, have gloves..."

That was a bit of an annoyance... Technology expert, flubbing up the user interface? How shameful.

"Well, I won't upgrade your phone then, Irene. If you're comfortable with the old one, then far be it for me to seperate you from it." Ash shrugged as she turned her attention to Liryn, showing him the new phone she had pulled out of subspace. "All you have to do is create one of these, ok? This is how everything inside should be... then you just get the old phone open and take out this piece here... and insert it into this special place on the new phone and snap everyting back together again..." The silver cat walked her student through the process, demonstrating taking apart the phones and shifting over the vital piece before closing it all up again and turning on the new phone...

"And, ta da!" Ash said brightly as the new phone powered up, beaming around the gathered group. "And that's all there is to it." Even if the technology involved was a bit complex... the process shouldn't be too hard to managed, at least for another Mauvian.

Liryn watched as Ash pulled a jade and bronzed coloured phone out of substance and took careful note of it's design. It was different to the ones that he'd been pulling out for the senshi that he'd helped awaken and sleeker - much sleeker. He turned his attention to the old phone that Ash had pried open prior to starting, noting the piece that she took out to snap into the new phone and the place that it went into and although prying the phone open would be a bit of a difficulty, it was manageable - definitely manageable.

By the time that Ash had finished her demonstration Liryn thought that he'd definitely had the hang of what to do, his purplish eyes shining as he said "You're amazing Ash, this looks so much better than the old one" and he especially liked the touch screen which would so much easier for paw typing than fiddling with the keys had been.

He was a little sad that Irene didn't want to have her phone upgraded since having watched Ash do Athene's phone, he wanted to try upgrading some phones himself but he respected her decision.

Remembering the cookie, he munched on a bit of it before saying "It's been pretty quiet up here so far. I wonder how the other points are doing - after all he remembered mention of there being more than one ferry point set up." He looked at first Ash and then Athene and Irene "Have any of you heard anything?"

-------------------------------------------------

Athene had been watching the two cats to see what they, well Ash specifically, would do with his phone and had gotten as far as seeing Ash pry the phone open before getting distracted as Irene mentioned having talked to ********* about the phone upgrade.

He looked over at her, his quiet voice curious as he asked "Do you know ********* well?" A fond note in his voice as spoke the name of the silvery-grey furred mauvian who had awoken him and then subsequently upgraded him first to Super and then to Eternal. "And I'd be happy for you to scan me in turn once Ash has finished upgrading my phone."

He'd been surprised by Irene's mention that the phone upgrade was a touch screen and found himself wondering how Ash was going to turn his phone with keys into a phone with touch screen.

By summoning a new style phone and cannibalising some of the old phone it turned out.

Kneeling down Athene first scooped up his new phone before reaching out his hand in an offer to gently scritch Ash beneath the chin. "Thank you for the phone upgrade Ash" he said quietly. "It looks really pretty" and although it would take a bit of fiddling to get used to things, fortunately his phone as Arian had a touch screen, so hopefully it wouldn't take too much fiddling.

He shook his head at Liryn's query about how the other ferry points were doing. "I've heard that there's more than one, but that's about it" before adding "But I dropped Thraen a message when you and I got here though Liryn, so if he's picked it up then he knows that we're here."

With talk about the other ferry points another thought occurred him, as Athene realised that his new phone was lacking the pearl charm of the former. "By the way Ash how would I use this to take people to the Moon?" Or maybe a better question was could be used to take people to the moon, although Athene was pretty sure that it was something that both Ash and ********* would have thought of.

Yes, that went over about as well as Irene expected it would. At this rate, she would make enemies of everyone before they even got to the moon. Not the most promising of beginnings. But it did seem like Ash was willing to accept her decision, which was a big relief. Rather than trying to justify it more, which would probably make her come off as even more ungrateful, she decided to drop the subject and move forward with the one thing that always helped: compliments. Fortunately, it wasn't hard to come up with real ones.

"That's very nice," she said enthusiastically, admiring Athene's new phone. "Sleek and elegant. And having everything easily-accessible should make things simpler for new senshi. I've heard that some of them have to work these things out on their own." She shook her head sadly, glad to have never been in that position. If all went well during the meeting, maybe they could put a serious dent in the number of senshi who felt they had to struggle alone.

Athene's mention of ********* perked her up even more. "Yes! She's the one who found me, and she brought the team together." Iris may have been the Captain, but ********* was definitely the unifying factor for the Asteroids. "Are you part of a team, Athene? Or what about you, Miss Ash? Mister Liryn?"

Now that Liryn mentioned it, where was everybody? Even if there were other rendezvous points, it was odd that nobody had joined them yet. "What time are we supposed to pack up and go? Or are we waiting on some sort of signal for that?" Having come this far, Irene was just starting to realize how little she knew about what to expect. That was unsettling, but not scary. Even without ********* and the girls, she was with Athene, who seemed pretty powerful, and not one but two cats. Surely they could handle anything that happened! Even the worst-case scenario of nobody else showing up.

"********* found me too" Athene quirked another of his slight smiles, his quiet voice fond. "I guess you could say that she's the one that brought me into all of this." It had been about three years ago now give or take and he'd not long moved to the States. He'd met the silvery furred mauvian whilst at summer camp and she had given him his henshin pen and the phone that Ash had just cannibalised to use in his new senshi phone. "She's always been a big help."

He hadn't always been of that opinion, had in fact not taken it very well when he'd first awakened and...

Irene was querying about teams and Athene shook off the memories and nodded "I am," he said. "I'm part of the PSSG along with..." His new phone pinged with the noise that Athene had come to associate with an incoming message and with a murmured "Sorry, excuse me" he went to check it.

It took a couple of tries, but Athene was eventually able to bring the text message up on screen, noting that the message was one from Thraen as he tapped up a quick response.

SMS Athene (to Thraen):
Hi Thraen. It's very quiet with just myself, Liryn, Ash and Sailor Irene here. One of us can carry either Liryn or Ash over - in fact I'd be happy to do so myself.

He hit send before looking over at first Irene, then Ash and Liryn , unaware that Thraen had also sent the same message to Irene and Ash as he said as he said "Thraen just messaged me to say that one of the other ferry points has a lot of people there, but no cats. Would one of you mind going over there to help?" He reached down to snag the moon pearl from his old phone just in case it was needed before looking over at Ash as he added "And would you happen to know where ferry point 3 is supposed to be?" There had been no mention of it in Thraen's text, however Ash seemed to know a lot about what was going on so he was hoping that mayhaps she knew the location.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

********* - that name again...

Liryn had been surprised to find that both Irene and Athene seemed to know ********* and even more surprised when Athene had mentioned that ********* had been the one to awaken him and although he was glad that the dark-haired eternal had in fact managed to have some mauvian guidance and input he also couldn't help but feel a little jealous of the fond way in which Athene spoke of *********. Couldn't help but wish that he was the one being acknowledged as being a great help and that he'd awakened to himself sooner, found the dark-haired eternal sooner.

I wonder if he'll ever call me a great help...

Athene's new phone pinged and he looked over in his direction, purplish eyes curious as he wondered who the message was from.

He didn't have to wait long however as after tapping up a message on his phone and sent it off before turning to look at Ash and him and asked whether they'd be willing to give a hand over at one of the other ferry points which was apparently without a mauvian.

"I can do it." Much as he liked being in Athene's company, Liryn took his guardian cat duties seriously and was quite willing to lend a paw aura-blocking to the best of his abilities. That if he did a really good job of it then Athene would see that he could be a great help too.

(( I hope it is okay that I post! It said 'ORP' so I thought it would be cool. smile ))

Now that she had found an excuse to break her cast off as early as possible (even if both her doctor and mother had balked at the speed of her recovery), Maggie had immediately begun overdoing it as Sailor Auriga. She had been prevented from transforming for so long that it itched at her all day. Plus, it was summertime, which meant no normal school schedule. She transformed whenever possible, sometimes just for fun, and sprinted all across Destiny City.

That night, however, her purpose was a lot more interesting.

Auriga arrived at Destiny Tower with curiosity sparking in her eyes. "Oooh, coffee," she said, hopping over to Athene with several enthusiastic handclaps. "Oh hey, you were at the fight at that warehouse -- I remember you!" Auriga nodded a few times, her hood slipping off her head and settling on her shoulders. "I'm Sailor Auriga of Pestilence. Pretty curious about..." She waved her hands around the rooftop. "All this."

Peering around Athene, the young teen senshi beamed at the cats and waved. "Hi, kitties," she said. "And other people -- hi, hi, Auriga, hi." Her greetings were full of smiles and head nods as she began helping herself to coffee -- lots of cream, lots of sugar.

Bouncing on her feet, Auriga was dimly aware she had sort of stumbled in mid-conversation, but didn't seem bothered at all by it.
