I've noticed most of my friends are in band.
And most of them are woodwinds.
One is a trombone.
But still...
I've noticed the woodwinds stick together at my school.
Our band is seperated into three groups, it seems.
Percussion, woodwinds, and brass.
We all tease each other, but we secretly think our section's better.
Does you brand split into groups?
If so, what groups?

Ours are a lot like that, too. Ours seems to usually go into different instrument groups for the woodwinds. (ie. clarinets are together, flutes are together, double reeds are together) Then there are the saxophones who usually end up with the clarinets because they hate the other saxophones, which is basically all of them besides two. Now that I think about it, the saxophones that hang with the clarinets are either dating one of them or have a huge crush on one of them. For brass, it's not really an issue. It's just brass. A lot of them aren't friends with eachother; forming groups inside the brass group that aren't specified by instruments. Then the percussion usually stays with percussion, sometimes mixing with the brass and the occasional flute. Although there are always exceptions to the rules. Because of marching season not having a low woodwind section, the people that march tenor saxes and bass clarinets *cough*me*cough* became friends with the low brass kids, thus how I ended up dating a trombone player and a tuba player dating a tenor sax/bass clarinet player. Basically, it's clarinets/saxophones, flutes, brass, and percussion. 3nodding

Nah our band isn't really like that. Really, it's just one big band that travels in packs though the school. We didn't really notice it until we wore out bandshirts on Fridays (which are bright yellow). Needless to say, we blinded some people XD

Our band shirts are neon yellow.
They blind people.
We're a big band, but I've noticed that inside of the 'family' we've split into smaller groups.
I still like everyone.
But yeah...
That's weird...

Well, it's basically as you described, but we have layers. The flutes all hate eachother, and hang out with other reeds, guard, or trumpets. The saxes all hang out with one another, with a random clarinet or two. The clarinets stay together, ocassionaly fooling around, or running off. The trumpets are almost always together. The low brass, well, they don't really do anything. ^_^" And our one mellophonium hangs out with the clarinets or trumpets, but she used to play clarinet so yeah.

Well, the eight graders all know each other, so they hang out. Sixth graders are scared of each other, so they hang out with different seventh graders. And seventh graders could care less. ^^ *is one of them*

so first we have the percussion. They are trying to keep their legend of awesomeness alive. A few years back the percussion section was awesome then it just kind of died. So they all stick together on the bus rides and stuff and claim the last bus for themselves. Funny story: There is this one freshman bass drummer that worships the senior bari sax player and does everything he does. Normally the percussion section is all cool and won't get into the band cheers and stuff of that sort. So this drummer tries to join his idol in the cheers and other activities that the percussion section wouldn't be caught dead doing. Everytime this happens, the drums section leader screams at him and pulls him back. It's prolly one of those things where you have to be there but it makes me chuckle.
Then you have the beloved drum majors. no comment.
The rest of the band kind of mixes but we are still pretty seperated by grade. Though there are a few of us upperclassmen (2 seniors and 3 juniors which are my 2 friends and I) who hang out with the youngins. Otherwise 8th graders and freshmen are considered scum.
Then of course there are the Stoners of the band aka the clarinet section. We're not really on drugs but we seem like we are. We never have any idea what we're doing, we give the director s**t, and we laugh a lot. Yes we are also perverts. But man I love our section. We own.
So yup there are our divisions. Mainly age is the major divider. 3nodding
