These are observations I've made based on having talked to many, many people with Asperger's both online and in real-life. Maybe this has been researched and observed before. If not, boom. I've found a new area of Asperger's study :p.
I've noticed that there are two "types" of people who have Asperger's. This is not to say that the "type" totally defines them as a person. Please note that, also, there seem to be some people who have a bit of both, but possess more traits of one type (if you are one of these people, please select the type which you feel you have a greater percentage of traits of, unless you feel you are both equally).
---
Here are the two "types" and traits associated with them:
"Number" Aspies - -amazing when it comes to remembering dates -amazing when it comes to remembering schedules (such as bus schedules... my doctor always says that if you want to know when the next three buses come, ask one of these Aspies) -very fast at counting (similar to the autistic character in Rain Man... yes, I know he is not the greatest figure when it comes to examples of autism, but he's a very good example of this particular trait) -extremely intelligent when it comes to solving mathematical equations -tend to be have the highest, or almost the highest, grades in their class in school when it comes to math subjects -extremely fast when it comes to solving mathematical equations -may be very skilled with computers and machines -excellent at seeing patterns, especially if said patterns involve numbers and/or letters -may be in the process right now of creating a system for evaluating which "type" of Aspie they are -many seem to be considered "geniuses"
"World" Aspies - -able to write stories involving a "new world" with complex political systems, types/races of people/creatures, customs/styles, media, laws, and possibly new scientific laws -seem very interested and involved in fandom; some become fandom "big names" and are said to "know everything there is to know about __________" -quite a few are active in fanfiction communities and have the startling ability to create original characters who (gasp!) aren't Mary-Sues -many seem interested in history -many seem interested in politics, often a certain issue (such as, say, they are very interested in debating capital punishment or the environment) and may be activists for a certain side of the debate -many seem very interested in religion and spirituality -very interested in specific movies, TV shows, anime, manga, comics, etc. and can discuss them for hours -excellent at essays and articles; usually very well-researched -often very involved in RPGs and may have several characters with complex personalities -many seem to become amazing authors and/or journalists

I suspect I'm more along the lines of the Word Aspies, though I can remember dates (at least the important ones) well.
I like to write, though, and I am a history major.
*face-palm* Yeah, I'm a Word Aspie.

I think I'm both of them, because on one hand I understand math, electronics, programming and that kind of engineering stuff perfectly. On the other hand, I'm also real good at understanding ideas and the relationship between each other.
I guess I'm more of a jack of all trades. surprised

I display traits of both- as much as I dislike math, I am very good vat it and can solve equations and problems quickly. I tend to leave people in the dust, so to speak, and need to slow down for them.
On the other hand, I love creative, free-form RPGs and have trouble playing a character without reasons for what they do. I LOVE backstory. As for anime, movies, and manga, if you don't stop me I'll talk your ear off. sweatdrop

I sincerely hope people still visit this guild sweatdrop
One thing I have noticed about the Aspies I have met, myself, and fully autistic peers I have worked with.
When an aspie seems to have strong traits that point towards "number" or "world", they have greater trouble communicating and socializing. Those who have the easiest are the true neutral aspies, right in the middle, or those who display these traits to a lesser degree. Just some food for thought, I guess.

I think I'm more of a "world" type. I'm really into fandoms and history, but I'm good at math too. But I hate science as a school subject. I support science to explain the universe, but I hate having to learn about it. >.<

Er, some of both. I'm not good at math for the sole reason that arithmetic defies me; higher level stuff is easy for me as long as I have a calculator do to the arithmetic. I took a class in mathematical logic and didn't think it was hard at all (unlike my classmates). I am highly intelligent.
On the other hand, I'm an avid conlanger and do quite a bit of worldbuilding; I love fleshing out societies and giving my conpeople myths and stories and superstitions and all the wonderful, hilarious things that people have and do. There are some political issues I'm quite interested in, particularly the eradication of coca in the Andes (strongly opposed!), and I've certainly been involved in fandoms (but not over the past few years). For some reason, I always seem to end up running forums as well, which may fit into the world aspie thingamawhatsit.
