Alright, before we begin, this thread is here for the purpose of census and to satisfy ones curiosity as to which religions have representatives on this forum and who follows what religion.

This is not a "bash thread" and is not here for the purpose of saying "my religion has the most followers so it must be the right one" or any similar statement, I will not tolerate this and anyone I find harassing one this way will be banned.

you don't have to vote but it is encouraged that you do wink

note: I only have so many spaces so don't be offended if yours isn't on there.

If you vote Other, could you please elaborate by telling which religion you follow? smile

One last thing, I know theres a difference between being Agnostic/Atheist and should be placed separately, but due to lack of room they can't be in this instance, feel free to post which one you are though.

Edit: thanks Cat, what would I do without you? XD

I'm both a practitioner of Appalatchian (including native Cherokee) craft as well as a Wiccan of traditional styling. I also have Cohchranite leanings and am familiar with just about every esoteric tradition out there.

I do practice rituals from the Golden Dawn, and other similiar orders but the tools I prefer to use are from grimoire and trad-craft traditions. Unless something like the Lotus Wand is specifically called for.

I'm also a Unitarian Universalist.

You spelled encouraged wrong...

But anyways, I'm Pagan. I am currently reading up on (when I can because of school) on Asatru/Heathen aspects since I've been feeling that draw to learn that path.

I don't really follow any specific religion...
Does that make me uncultured?! o.o
Or just lazy?

I don't follow any specific religion either, but I am far from lazy. I feel I'm just too indecisive and open to so many different ideas and theories that it'd be silly of me to pick just one. For a long time I used to be Christian. I've read the Bible and used to go to church a lot. But I never felt that I truely believed in any of it, however, fear of upsetting my parents got in my way until I was fourteen when I decided that I just wasn't going to go anymore. I felt that I'd given it a chance (I even went to a Youth Camp over one summer which just ended up further pushing me away) and that I should be able to decide whether I believed in it or not.

So I told my dad. He wasn't happy about it and even four years later we still argue every now and then, but things were alright.

But once I moved away from Christian beliefs, I really didn't know what to think anymore. My first reaction was that I still believed in most Christian things, just not enough to be a Christian anymore. That didn't last long. So I started studying metaphysics and biology and learned all about the latest theories on how the universe might have come about and the changes that were made to the theory of evolution (the things you learned about Darwinism in Biology is not the most recent). And I was then a full blown atheist.

However, I began to question other things that science couldn't offer me, so I went into philosophy and theology. And wow, I really loved those courses. It really opened my mind and allowed me to answer my own questions rather than relying on someone else to tell me what to believe and my beliefs are constantly changing as I learn new things or new ideas pop into my head.

Right now I believe in basically what science has to offer, but that there is more to it that can't be considered scientific because there's nothing really to measure, such as the human soul. I think that inside every person is energy and since energy can not be created nor destroyed (only changed in form), then that person's energy can not be destroyed, so when we die that energy is released back into earth and thus the universe. I also agree with some of the things Sartre came up with and I believe that people are not born with a purpose and that the true meaning of life is for each of us to find our own meaning.

I could probably rant on and on, but by next week I might look at what I typed and think "Ugh, I don't believe that anymore" because another thing I believe in is the human skill to analyze, adapt, and change a way of thinking completely because we have the power to do so.

I don't follow any one religion due to the absurd number of them, all of which claim to be the one true truth of truths.
Now I'm not saying any one religion is wrong, but I most definately believe that none of them are absolutely right.

I'm a fan of Gaia. No, I'm not talking about this website, but the planet we reside upon. I find comfort in seeing the planet as a sentient being, a bubble of life floating around in the middle of a vast space (void of life?). How fortunate we are to be located just far enough from the sun to support such a rich biosphere! (and noosphere hehe) I feel honored to be here, as it seems like a galactic oasis from afar.

yes she is smile

but not all of the religions out there condemn people to damnation or claim to be the one "true" way xd, but yeah, I really try and distance my self from those who are of he "only one true way" mindset....

I was the same way, except minus the Christian part and being Agnostic instead of Atheist. Though when I say Agnostic I mean unspecififedtheism. rofl

and I to, dislike the stagnation and lack of thinking in new ways.....

I have updated the poll, so you will have to vote again. It is more inclusive this way. Also- I apologize in advance for everyone who got stuck on number 9...

None.
Because I'm not sure where/what to believe in. And which path/road is the right one for me.

Non specific Witchcraft with an odd physics bent. But ya know it works for me. Mostly Hedge and Hearth witchery.

I follow a semi-eclectic path based on my mixed ancestry, but it predominantly follows Hawaiian traditions as this is the culture I was most brought up in.

That said I am a die-hard polytheist (and I have A LOT of deities let me tell you.) I also practice traditional Hawaiian magic which is an inherent part of the religion actually.

I know most people aren't terribly familiar with Hawaiian religion and I'm more than happy to elaborate on things if anybody would like me to. I'm super open about my practice, and I seriously don't mind questions as long as they're respectful.

Is there any proper term for Hawaiian Religious Craft? I would imagine there likely is...

Also, if you choose to make threads explaining it but feel there aren't any appropriate places for the, let me know and I'll set up a sub-forum for you.
