Moonlight Ladykiller

Wait, I hadn't listened to this one! emotion_jawdrop emotion_facepalm
So much work. It feels insurmountable! But having passion for your work, and the end result is all worth it! Well...
Since it's more a song for cheering them on, it doesn't really address that animators valued less because of the popularity of anime. They need to either be paid more and take longer, or there need to be more of them working less. (angry eyebrows)

Ryuichi Sakamoto - Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence

This is old news, but gender has just... it's always been a social construct. And I guess there've always been assholes that say it's unnatural to not follow their arbitrary gender norms.

"They'll be able to tell by looking at your booooonnnnnesssss~" Who ******** cares if peoples' bones don't match their self-image? Why is it so important to bigots that stupidly conflate sex and gender?

"From now on, until my body gives out" :') It's a tradeoff, in a way, that when an artist is no longer exists in the world of the living, that their art remains forever. Though becoming finite; to be added to no longer. Anyway, I was all prepared to complain about something thanks to the origin of this song. But I don't have to, since it's a recent recording. And it wouldn't have mattered that much, since I enjoy listening to Sakamoto playing regardless. It always feels like there's so much thought put into it. But never that anything is overthought. I think a lot of pianists I listen to play more violently than he does lol. I'm a little used to hearing the distinct strikes of each key. Which just makes the lightness and gentleness I take from his playing stand out more to me, I think.

Purple Disco Machine, Duke Dumont, Nothing But Thieves - Something On My Mind

Ancient Egyptians believed bees to be the tears of the sun god, Ra.

v Most if not all of Purple Disco Machine's music has a retro 80s sound to it so you might enjoy more of his work! I definitely like some more than others but to me he's consistently pretty good. Also in "Dopamine" he's rescuing the singer to bring her to the 80s lol.

Also Piers/Nezu is based on a rock star most famous in the 80s/90s (Ohtsuki Kenji) so by that connection your avatar kind of has an 80s air to it too. 👍 Though I think they based the character more on how he looked in like 1992. /fan

Liberal Gaian

I'm all for those 80's vibes. It's what I grew up on. That diner evokes A-Ha energy and I love it. "Take on Me" being in my top 100 songs. The lyrics sort of hit a chord with me, but in the way that lyrics from that decade hit different from the rhythm and beats.
Camera work is superb in catching the aesthetic further. I'm currently looking for modern takes to Retro and vintage music, so this is definitely a great find!

Jonsi - Go Do

Some members of the family Gastropoda share a mating practice of "spearing" one another until the victor gets to impregnate the other. Typically, some, but not all of this family are male and female, carrying both kinds of gametes.

Admittedly, the first time around was semi-irritating due to the inability to understand the lyrics. But on re-listens it did get better along with the words being put in the comments. Overall this is a good song with a great message to it, but the vocals don't seem to be mixed properly with the rest of the music? Odd, but not detracting much. I do like how the presence of the various parrots goes along with the sounds in the music that sound like the birds themselves. And that guy is really beating up his luggage.

I'm glad that they reuploaded this so the song can be enjoyed in more than the gameboy color quality the original upload was. Now I'm kinda curious about if the core part of this song my brain has always identified as percussion is actually keys instead lol? It might be both since there's kind of a bell-like layer and a more open-handed drum one. Which is part of the interesting contrast present in this song, which is the alternating between the solid driving sound of the chorus and the bare bones sound of every verse. These songs have to be fun for Yamaguchi because he can just go all out on the vocals lol. And then the zoom out to the pinball machine because this was a tie in to a rhythm game iirc. No complaints and I'm glad it isn't one of those songs that fades out because the abupt ending adds a lot to it I think.

Fujii Kaze - Workin' Hard

Strawberry bon bons have existed since the 1800s. I like old things.

Junkyard workin' Ka-stab!
Hoo, workin' hard and doing it with dignity until you die, damn the consequences... And the whole "I see you all working hard, and that makes me want to work harder too" is part of human nature. We are social creatures who help each other out. Yet the power structure we currently have rewards the opposite; sociopaths run the world and tell us that it's human nature to be selfish and greedy. That this power structure is set up to "trick" people into doing the right thing. But they say that because they're in power, and if we changed things they would lose that.
We're all working hard, and we deserve to be able to reap the benefits. Without workers, the rich would be nothing. They got where they are by stealing the wealth we create.

WEDNESDAY CAMPANELLA - Aladdin

Velomobiles~ emotion_dowant

Just stumbled across a video about aerodynamic human-powered vehicles. There are more people trying to bring them back. Modern ones are frequently built around recumbent trikes. They add a fiberglass faring around the whole thing to make it as aerodynamic as possible. With the reduced drag, the driver can easily exceed 20mph.

On top of that, there are motor assist versions you can get to make them more viable for every day short range travel. emotion_kirakira

Behold! Someone actually having a great time at the bowling alley without having to be drunk. And they're even singing about cleaning products and proper application for your bowling balls. I'd dare say she could make golf more interesting, too, but that wouldn't divert from the courses being a waste of space. Love Wednesday Campanella and haven't really come across a bad song, yet. Very fun!

Spin Aqua - mermaid

The arrival of the monofin in the early 1970s led to the breaking of all finswimming world records by the end of the decade due to the improved performance possible when used instead of two ordinary swimfins.

I'm glad that Anna Tsuchiya seems super happy with her life as it is now. Because her vocals are the biggest reason to revisit these older tracks lol. There's no one else with a voice like hers. Not to say that the melody isn't well constructed. It feels like they're written around her vocals and suit them perfectly. But at this point the instrumentation does sound a little dated to me. I didn't know that her agency forced her to quit this group after she got pregnant. Which makes sense of how fiercely she would keep fighting for her music career, as she should! She got even more popular and famous after that and her oldest kids are both models now so joke's on that agency lol.

Yellowbelly - Teenage Wrist

Cranberries do, in fact, bounce. The higher the bounce, the better the berry.

Is that a coffin? emotion_kirakira Yep!
Writing as I watch to capture the feelings and interpretation of the video and song together:
Trying to move on from things and just... it doesn't want to go away. Sometimes it feels like it might be part of who you are and you'll never get away from it. Just a constant struggle to keep burying it.
And then it gets out , and maybe doesn't look so bad to other people, even though you want nothing more to do with it.
*reads lyrics* Not... too far off, I suppose. There's a bit more mourning and hoping to see each other again in another life. But also just wanting to be done with it.

QUEEN BEE - Mephisto

It's nice that there are more alternatives to plain burial and cremation. Like water cremation and cryo cremation. They both use WAY less energy than classic cremation, use up less space than burying a body, and actually let the remains be part of the natural cycle instead of preserving our bodies well past the funeral.

Avuchan is the perfect idol ❤️ Too perfect, apparently lol. I think a more classic sound to the melody with a bit of a racing pace to it really suits Avuchan's elegant but passionate voice as well as the emotional lyrics. The sounds of the MV are a little distracting but they're meant to be lol. Yashichan as the fan that shatters Avuchan's perfect image is kinda funny. But fitting, as she never looks like she means any harm but ultimately is the root of all destruction here. I wonder if they will get another permanent drummer from here as Rurichan has "graduated" or will continue with support and what effect if any that will have on their sound. Will continue to look forward to their future work as I have for a long time now, of course. ❤️

Frederick is really good with high energy in their songs without needing to drown anything out. I love addition of the brass and sax - they give the song a big band feel without the scale. The vocals did seem a little unpolished compared to the rest, but it is a one-take recording and their skill still shows through.

The Escape Club - Wild Wild West

Thirty-five years later and the scat section of that song is still incomprehensible. rofl

So many dead beets surprised At least pickle them~
This is VERY 80s... Headed for the 90s. Wild wild west.
It feels like a song that would be well at home at the awkward dancing part of the wedding reception. The style of the song sounds like it should be tame, but has lyrics that the "proper" people would be upset with if they knew them. Somehow this has made me nostalgic for being bored at weddings?

Starship Velociraptor - Jonathan Young

I almost missed fat bear week! Voting ends on the 10, so I missed most of the voting, but still~ I wouldn't want to miss it!

((Wow. Just WOW. The animation is soo damn good and the song sounds pretty catchy. I used to listen to Jonathan Young's song covers of Disney Villain songs and his collabs with Caleb Hyles 😀))

TWRP feat. Dan Avidan - Starlight Brigade

Something I had recently discovered while playing Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow. If you attack a succubus with the killer mantle soul, not only it doesn't steal her EXP, but increases it, making her slightly tougher to kill. It doesn't seem to work on Liliths last I checked.
