Good news artists!! Maqmahausen and Mugimugi are coming out of the Art whore closet! And they're bringing out all of their items with them!
Since we're planning on sleeping swimming (Holding the Contest reminds us of the fun we use to have on Gaia. So we're changing from quitting, to taking a long vacation~ Don't worry. We're still giving all the prizes away 3nodding ) with the fishies here on Gaia, we figured we shouldn't let our items culminated over the years go to waste. So we're giving them away! Kind of...Welcome to Maqy & Mugi's first & only Art Contest!!!

Everyone who can draw can enter for their chance at any of the items in the 68+ Million Gold Prize List! And that doesn't even include the Grand Prize! An Angelic Halo~!
With just under 20 Art-specific Categories, even the lowest prize here is worth the minimum of 495k!
There will also be an upwards of 50 (Depends on the number of entrants) Honourable Mention prizes given out respectively, which can range somewhere between 4k to 45k.
We're not quite done yet, each person who enters this contest will receive something for all their time & effort! So anyone who doesn't make it into the exclusive winners circle, or the HMs, will be given a random item valuing anywhere from a Green Vial, to a Christmas Charity Gift from 2003!

There's even something in it for non-artists! The Artist Referral Contest, will fetch the best recruiter 250k Pure Gold.

09.28.2005 - Mugi's internet's finally back! So the Contest is back on schedule...Or...not. In any case, judging is now in progress, so we all get to wait until the Awards Ceremony! Joy. Until then...2 very popular questions have been added to the FAQ, and some of the other posts on this page have also been updated!
08.31.2005 - It's almost over!! Only 2 weeks left, so pick up the pace! We've refined the Deadline information with more details on the 4 day extention. The Entries list got updated a few days ago, so if you've been checking lately, you'll know the older entries can only be view by the almighty pirate now. Hmm...'tis all for now.
08.08.2005 - This contest is being extended by the majority vote, from the original deadline of August 28th, to an undecided date. In the following week, we'll be taking suggestions from everyone involved in the contest, as to how long the extention should be!
07.30.2005 - ***IMPORTANT! READ!*** If there's anymore art thieves from here on out, we're going to have consider putting a lid on the participation prizes.
If you manage to find a cheater that we missed before entry #250, it won't affect it. Just the ones after. We've been extremely lenient with people who've been treading the rules already. From now on, if you push us, we're pushing back.

06.26.2005 - Maqy & Mugi's 2nd Gaian birthdays just past a few days ago, and it seems about time to announce all the changes made these past few days. Contests & auctions that have ended, have been removed. An alternate method of entry viewing has been added for the lazy folk. And...'Common Misconceptions' has been added to our profile posts. That's a must read!
06.17.2005 - Bwaa...Wonky Gaia. Finally able to update the front page. We reached 75 entries a few days ago, so unless if Gaia wonks out again, or the artists need it, the deadline is set on August 28th.
The prices have been upgraded with Lucky Devil, as have a few prizes. Most noticeable is the Group Photo prize, which went from a December 2003 Letter to an October 2003 Letter! More Categories will be added later on this week, and at least once again before the end of the contest.
06.04.2005 - Added a Rule specifically aimed at the Dolly entries. Found an entry that sneaked by on a technicality, so with the new addition in place, anyone else who tries it is DQed.
06.03.2005 - Updated the Links & Affiliates section! Removed all the contests & auctions that have ended already. I'll prolly be doing that every couple of weeks, so it's safe to visit them! Go on!
05.30.2005 - Updated Mugi's profile with a Version of their Backstories. Once We make up a more worthy list of interests, we might throw that on as well!

Q: Is there an entrance fee?
A: What are we? Assholes? No fees! Only people shelling out the gold is us! We just want your blood, sweat & tears. And art. And souls...if you don't mind parting with it.

Q: Will I get anything even if I don't win?
A: Ya. Everybody who doesn't cheat will get something for their time & effort, whether it's a Honourable Mention reward, or a Participation Prize. And people who are awarded the Sportsmanship prize will get 2 somethings!

Q: Can my entry be a written piece?
A: Not likely. It's better to save it for people who can appreciate poetry. Especially when our idea of a good poem is "There once was a man from Nantucket..."

Q: Are there any styles/mediums are you guys looking for in specific?
A: We're relatively partial to Anime-style. Though there are plenty of artists on Gaia with unusual or realistic styles that make us piddle all the same. Sculpting (3D) will likely get brownie points from Maq. We're generally looking for Overall Artistic Merit here. Anything more specific than that has it's own category & prize. But no Avatar edits or using Doll "Bases" that weren't created by you 100% please, or Fraken Dolling!! Oh! And no Photo edits either. We want original works! None of those re-edited things!

Q: Can my 1 stupidly brilliant submission win in several categories?
A: Nope. Each entry may only win 1 prize. But if a piece is in the lead for more than 1 category, they can choose which prize they want. The runner-up gets what was left. Of course to spare the runner-up some dignity...this will all be done via PMs!
And later for the sake of our amusement, it may be or may not be disclosed that they were only 2nd best.
(Please disregard the above statement. Maq is obviously fond of entrapment, but for the sake of the contest, that shall be restrained... kinda.)

Q: I need more information on your characters! Can I PM you about it?
A: If it's not already included in the Character profiles, you can post any questions here & we'll try to get back to you as soon as possible. If it's any of the characters listed in the "Others" section, it might take longer for us to get back to you. They're actual Gaians who don't belong to either Maq or Mugi. Well...maybe Hojo. whee

Q: Can I post my WIP (Work in Progress) for advice & critiques?
A: Preferably not. One of the main features in this contest is artistic freedom. We want everyone to be able to focus on what they're best at, with the smallest amount of limitations possible. But, if you're in dire need of help...we can make exceptions~

Q: Is it okay if the picture isn't exactly PG-13?
A: Nudity's fine...if there's a reason for it. This isn't exactly a boobies bonanza! Even if certain judges try to persuade you otherwise... stare You might also want to remember that Mugi & Maq are siblings, so it's best to think twice before drawing any hentai scenes!

Q: I've completed an entry, but I don't have anyway to upload it!
A: You can sign up for an account at www.Photobucket.com, or best yet, http://Tinypic.com! But if your parents don't let you sign up for accounts (Or in Tiny's case, like having their IP addy logged) for whatever reason, then you can e-mail it to us at Mugixmaq@yahoo.com.

Q: Is it alright if I have another artist involved with my submission? Like a collaboration, or a sponsor artist?
A: Yes you can. But only as long as all artists involved with your entry, posts here first, stating their acknowledgement & involvement (We might PM you to confirm). This is only to guarantee that your image isn't stolen, or a re-edited piece for/from someone else. If you win a prize, you should decide in advanced, who will be doing the prize handling. The items will be your responsiblity after we confirm the trade. Prizes won't increase in size if there are serveral people working on a single piece.

Q: How many entries can one person enter? (From Tennyo-sama)
A: Since each piece cannot win in more than one Category, you can submit as many as you'd like.

Q: Do you want to only be drawn in what you are wearing...or do you have other pics to go by? (From Tennyo-sama)
A: The Avatars are only examples of what we wear. We'll try to add more avatar outfits as the contest goes on...But you can pretty much draw us in anything, that you feel suits our individual personalities.

Q: Where the hell is Mugi?
A: Between September 8th & September 27th of 2005, Mugi did the impossible and took up residence under a rock. It's surprisingly roomy despite what you may think.

Q: Is this contest over yet? When do we find out the winners?
A: What can we say? Apart from Nells, all the judges are bums. The contest is over when all the items have gone out to their respective owners. And we'll be finding out who those owners are as soon as the (JUDGING) in the title goes away.

Appearance: Hard and wiry where she needs to be, soft and curvy where she should be. Maqmahausen would fit in rather well as a fashion model if she'd stop making the snobby people cry. A natural athlete, her time in training as a spec ops soldier has defined her already impressive build. Facially, she looks quite mature, most of her features being relatively well defined and captivating. The problem most will encounter when facing Maqma are her unknowingly unnerving expressions that look as if she's either looking through you, mocking you, or simply playing with you like a cat with mice. It also doesn't help that she'll usually either frown, leer, or laugh at people.
Personality: Sharp wit and even sharper marksmanship, this little cherry bomb dropped her military career when she realized making colonel doesn't equal unquestioned wanton destruction. Strong and stubborn, she doesn't yield to convention, usually taking the path most hectic. Every moment she spends conscious is typically filled with excess fireworks or excess headaches for those who receive her attentions. Although not ill intentioned, she never quite knows when she should back off from trying to "help" others (such being the usual source of excess fireworks). The pairing of Maqma and Mugi is something of hydro bomb with an expansion rate of 1/0. The two simply end up provoking each other into ever expanding acts of idiotic destruction.
Word-Association: Disruptive, Reserved, Overbearing, Confident
Common Misconceptions:
a) Maqy's TINY! Maq is almost a foot taller than Mugi. Not the other way around!!
b) Maq looks/is sincere. That only ever happens by accident. She smirks, sneers, cackles, and most importantly, she laughs at you. Not with you.

Eyes: Pale Green
Appearance: Lanky, toned, and as flexible as a rubber band. Mugi is built like a 14-year-old Japanese Schoolgirl, with less definition up top. Or as Maqmahausen likes to say, "Built like a stick. 'Cept less curvy." Despite having the face of a Cherub, she has a set of teeth that can gnaw through anything (and a pair of baby fangs - Only the fangs are visible. Her teeth are otherwise indistinguishable), making her seem more like a human Domo than an angel. Out of habit, Mugi is rarely seen without her mini glasses.
Personality: Playful to a fault, Mugi knows no limits. In fact, she doesn't know much of anything. Least of all, self-control. Anything she likes, she'll play with until it's dead. Then she'll play with it some more. Anything she doesn't like, she'd most likely bite, burn, and bludgeon. Mugi & Maqmahausen's mutual fondness for destruction is one of the rare & few things the sisters share in common. Due to her natural animalistic tendencies, she commands an army of stray Domos to do her bidding. Though, that currently consists of humping legs of random people, or performing other lewd acts to strangers. Simple-minded, but not stupid, Mugi has never felt the need to ask 'Why?'. She just does whatever amuses her at the moment.
Word-Association: Feral, Insane, Happy, Loli (Think Lolicon...)
Back Story (Mugi-Version): Mugi hails from a far away world called Mugiland, where everybody speaks in the third person & the president is Bob Dole. Everyone there looks like a ***** wet dream & they're all called Mugi. About 4 years ago (Shortly after Maq left her stint in the military), Mugi & Maq met, and decided they're bloodsisters. So, they're related in every way, but blood, appearance, name, and origin. 4laugh
Ever since then, quoting Maq's profile, "The two simply end up provoking each other into ever expanding acts of idiotic destruction."

Common Misconceptions:
a) Mugi has big bouncy Boobies eek eek Did you even try reading the Descriptions?
b) Mugi is at least a foot taller than Maq. Let's see...She's 5'2, and Maq's 5'10...Does it get anymore specific than that?!?!
c) Mugi LOVES Pandas! Especially to hug and love!! Pandas=Food. She HUNTS them. They're yummy treats.

Bestest friends with Mugi, Maqy and teh other Denners as well as domokun , teh Hojo has a funky speech impediment that he calls style razz
Personality: Opportunist to teh core, only does things when teh time is right... At least that's his excuse for being lazy and not doing much of anything at all... Teh Hojo is a fun loving species that loves to cause mischief and laugh at the misery of people other than his friends not unlike an imp or goblin... but much fatter... blaugh

Appearance: Like all Big fat things, Firebean is... well.. Big and Fat. Round like a Balloon and just about as Gaseous, He is rarely Seen without his Viking Helmet and Pimp cane, prizes won at the king of Pimps Tournament. That stinky dead looking thing on his head is called Wump. It just showed up one day...
Personality:Always Struttin' arond like Big man on Campus, Firebean is a daunting figure (or as daunting as Big, Fat, Helmet-wearing monkies can be.). Talking Smack Is his Art form, and Pimpin' is his Medium.

What you need to know...
Open to all! For every artist who puts your name down in the "Referred by" section of their entry forms, you will given 10 points (Multiple entries don't count).
If an artist forgets to list you, you won't get any points for it. They get the final word, so it's probably best to avoid pissing them off. Artists may list themselves if they found this contest on their own though! Whoever has the most points by the end of the contest wins the prize!

Referrals are only for or people you know, or has given you permission to PM them. Don't contact strangers or random artists if they don't know you!! You will be disqualified from the Mini-contest if we receive word of this! Best of luck to everyone!
