Welcome to Gaia! ::

Life:

School kept me very dead, even after it was over. That semester wasn't good to me. And after if was over, I was eaten again by work/horses.

So much so that I didn't log on to gaia at all between... sometime in the middle of may and sometime towards the end of August. I was extremely surprised that I didn't come back to an inbox full of angry PMs, but I think there were... three. And only one was from someone who'd noticed I was gone at all. Kind of dissapointing actually, especially given that there were more shops that just JFTSOI that I'd... adandoned.

So I muddled around for a bit, and came to the conclusion that I'm not really ready to open the shop up again, not so much for time as because I can't find my book with the pictures of the turtles, and I'd like to work on some non-pet art for a while. I would still like to come back to it, but I'm not going to do that right away.

But since I am around, and some people did pay for flatsale turtles months ago and still haven't gotten them, I figure I should give them some kind of refund or the turtle they would have gotten of whatever. I still have the list of what's in each jar, so if you want your turtle, I'll do that, and if you'd rather a refund, I can do that, too. And If you'd rather anything else of equivalent value that I can provide, I'll see about doing that, instead.

Anywho, that's how things stand at the moment.

In the forests and streams of Gaia, in the port of Gambino and out into the sea, there are many different creatures... one of them is the turtle.

Turtles come in many shapes and sizes, from tiny (only a few inches long for the smallest) to huge. (Leatherbacks can grow as big as eight feet) The ones in this shop also come in many colours... we're not sure exactly why this is, but it's pretty, so I'm not going to complain.

Egg
Since turtles, unlike foxes, kittens, or mammals in general, actually do come out of eggs, the first stage will be an egg. It stays in a jar full of sand. The jar will keep the egg just the right temperature. Don't ask how. It's magic. Also, turtle eggs do not bounce, roll, of make cute little 'meep' noises. If your egg is doing any of these things, it is probably not a good sign. The eggs may be flexible or hard-shelled, ovoid or spherical, and there may be from one to several hundred in each clutch, all depending on the species.
This stage lasts about a week.

Hatchling
Once they've come out of their eggs, hatchlings are on their own. Mother turtles don't ever come back to the nest after they've laid their eggs, so the mortality rate among hatchlings in the wild is quite high. Hopefully with someone to care for them they'll be safer.
This stage lasts about two weeks.

Adult

Your turtle is full grown now. Depending on the species, it could be anywhere from eight feet long to just a few inches. Your turtle can now breed, also.
This stage is permanent, unless you're evolving.

Evolved

Through some kind of magic, of evolve-o-ray, or mutating radiation beam, it is possible to evolve your turtle into an anthro once they've reached the adult stage. This will cost extra, and there will be a limited number of slots available at a time, but each evolved turtle will be unique.

New research has shown that the best way to get a turtle to evolve is to throw them in the Durem Reclamation Facility for a few days.

And thus, the sale will today noon. Sorry about the confusion.

As you may have noticed, there are clues on each of the jars to what's inside. Feel free to speculate on what they might mean.

They'll all open shortly after they're sold. There are a couple customs, a breeding pass, an evolution spot, a few random turtles, and a surprise or two as well.

Price is 3k, but to encourage keeping it open to more people, if you want to get more than one, each after the first will cost a sealed letter.

When you buy one, post the number you want and send the trade. I won't open any of them until all have been paid for. There's no way of knowing what's in them other than the clues, but if you don't own a turtle and you get the breeding or evolution, feel free to trade or sell those to someone who does or hang onto them until you do have a turtle.

A few guidelines for flatsales:

Post the name and colouring of the one you want. If it isn't clear, you won't get it.

Start the trade as soon as I've let you know you won. You have two days to complete it.

There will be a go post. Wait for it. Even if I'm a little late.

Err... I think that's it.

xd

Other ways of getting turtles.

Pet trades: I'll take pet trades. Like everyone else, there are some kinds of pets that I like more than others, so I might not take everything offered.

Customs: Customs are a yes. However, I'm not sure exactly how much I'll be charging for them...

Is the lineart for the evolved turtles all the same?
No, I draw every one from scratch. They will all be different.

Ask, and it will be added.

Breeding:

Mating is an awkward process for most turtles- they simply aren't the most nimble of creatures. Even sea turtles don't have a really easy time of it...

But mate they do. Through techniques similar to the ones used to obtain the unnaturally-coloured turtles(ie. we don't know how), turtles that are not of the same spiecies can mate and produce viable offspring, though it is a bit more time-consuming and expensive. Thus any turtle, lizard, or other animal sold at this shop will be breedable, even if there aren't any more of it's species around.

The number of eggs laid varies from species to species, but only two eggs will be kept for the owners- if both turtles are owned by the same person, they may only keep one of the eggs- they can choose to give away or sell the second, but if they sell it I'd like 25% of the price as my cut.

Prices are:
Both turtles the same species: 4k
Turtles different species(or parents not turtles at all): 5k
Evolved breeding: 7k no matter what the species are. (since the lineart for each one is unique)

Evolved and non-evolved turtles can mate- this is priced by species like a normal breeding, but there is a chance of an evolved egg, though the exact probability still needs to be researched.

Evolution:

Available to any adult turtle is a special treatment which causes them to shift into an anthro form, like Todd has. It involves tossing them in the DRF and waiting with a large net. blaugh

Evolved turtles will usually be about as tall as a normal human, are generally fairly well-muscled, and, once they get used to their new body, quite intelligent.

Evolution is: 2k

There will be two slots available for breedings and evolution- though they may not always both be open.

I put it on two lines because it stretches the page otherwise, and I HATE stretched pages.
