About Flutterfoxes
***
</center>
According to their legends, the Flutterfoxes were once the loyal servants of a great majestic race. For reasons unknown or lost, the Flutterfox were brought to the valley and left there. All that is still carried down from those times is their duty to watch over the Sacred Chamber.
The Sacred Chamber is a dark cave that lies in the snow fields that surround the forest. It is forbidden to enter, and the Flutterfoxes are given further incentive to stay away by the large, hungry polar bears that roam the snow fields. No one knows what the Sacred Chamber contains, only that it is of great importance. Most Flutterfoxes believe they are meant to be the guardians of the Sacred Chamber, and are fiercely opposed to anyone attempting to enter it. The feather-winged Flutterfoxes known as Sundancers are usually of the Guardian belief.

However, there is a minority who believe that if they are to discover their true purpose, the Sacred Chamber must be entered, and its secrets revealed. Most of those who hold the Revealer belief are of the leather-winged Flutterfoxes known as Moondancers. The Moondancers are themselves a minority among the Flutterfoxes, as they are merely a rare mutation, rather than a true race. They tend to live apart from the Sundancers because they often feel like outcasts.

Flutterfoxes are naturally peaceful creatures, but this conflict of beliefs has occasionally led to bloody, if brief, battles. Despite this never ending argument, the Sacred Chamber has never been entered.
And although this conflict exists, most Flutterfoxes spend their time playing or sleeping. As their names suggest, their favorite past time is dancing. Some stories say that in the past, they entertained their masters with their exquisite dances. Some even claim that it is the dances of the Flutterfox that keep the forest in eternal springtime, and possibly what turns the day to night, and night to day, driving the very cosmos.
Flutterfoxes eat a great variety of plants and small animals, all of which are easily available in the forest. They prefer sweet things, and often snack on flowers. Raiding beehives can be an event!
Depending on preference, Flutterfoxes can live on the ground or in the trees. The size of their nests depends on the size of their families. Great care is taken in the construction of these nests, as young Flutterfoxes can not fly until adulthood. To safely leave a tree, they usually need to be carried by an adult. Babies also do not aquire the gem-like shine to their fur until adulthood.

The Valley

</center>
The Flutterfox home is a huge valley, surrounded by great mountain ranges. The mountains reach so high, that any Flutterfox attempting to fly over it would die of suffocation if the cold didn't kill them first. Therefore, they are unable to leave the valley, and have no idea of what lies beyond the mountains. Some believe that someday, their old masters may return for them.
Most of the valley is deep forest. But surrounding the forest, are snow plains that reach all the way to the mountains. Some Flutterfoxes like playing in the snow, but at their own risk. Although the polar bears mostly eat the penguins, they'll gladly snack on a stray Flutterfox.
Teardrop Lake is salt water, so not many live near there.
Descent Lake is the legendary landing ground of the old masters, and where the Flutterfox were left so long ago. Because of this, the area is home to many ancient nests, and old stories. There is also less obvious racial boundaries here.
Sundancer Lake has the largest collection of nests surrounding its shores. Most of the population here are Sundancers, hence the name. They originally chose this location not for size, but because of it was closest to the Sacred Chamber. The Guardians see themselves as the rock between the Chamber and those who dwell downriver...
Moondancer Lake is mostly populated by Moondancers, as the name suggests. Feeling more at ease with others like themselves, they long ago chose to gather in that place. Most Moondancers were children of Sundancers, and are filled with loneliness because of their differences.
The Volcano is a new development in the valley that literally sprung out of the earth in mere minutes. How this happened is unknown. This is a dangerous place, but more daring Flutterfoxes may chance upon a secret hidden in the glowing lava flows...
There is another odd feature of the valley that does not appear on any map. No one knows why, but bizarre objects and items occasionally fall from the sky. This mysterious phenomenon and the objects themselves are referred to as Thingyfall. Thingyfall is treasured by Flutterfoxes!
