RIP Reserve Bank of Gaia
April 7th, 2004 - May 22nd, 2007
RBG served over 2,000 customers for more than three years and had investments totaling more than 275 million gold - It was the first operation of it's kind, followed soon by smaller banks which also grew with time. The former Chatterbox Moderator Kitsuta came up with the idea and ran RBG until December of 2006 with the help of ShadyPrincess and a few other users. In August of 2005, the main account, thus named RBG, was banned for apparent hacking, though those claims never seemed to be solidified. Given permission from Dri, RBG continued to run from their exchange shop mule 7-11 Cashier while awaiting a marketplace/bank upgrade which would hopefully fix bugs in RBGs trading history, allowing moderators to see the necessary information and free the RBG account for administrative bank use.
In December of 2006, ShadyPrincess took over the bank as head administrator, and following a high boom of clients ( nearly doubling the size of RBG in the span of three weeks ), she hired Fleaball as an assistant and co-manager. They both ran RBG until the announcement and decision was made by Gaia administrators and staff to close down user-run banks on Gaia. The RBG main account was liberated of it's banning and the contents, which had been sitting idle for nearly a year, were then used to issue refunds to the customers.
RBG has always been a nonprofit organization bent on bettering the Gaia community and serving the Gaians that enjoy the site through helpful, happy client service and an expanding userbase. RBG would like to thank all that worked so hard to keep it running through time, effort, and donations, and those customers who supported the bank even through the roughest and hardest times of it's existence.
As sad as it is to see RBG go, those that had been with RBG for years will not soon forget what RBG stood for, or what it was about. Past owners are hopeful that RBGs generosity and helpfulness will continue on, even in the wake of it's absence.

Please note that RBG was given a one month extension from the original closing deadline of July 22nd.
All trades which have been sent to us have been filled. You may continue to send trades to retrieve your gold if you have not yet, but we will NOT be sending out trades to you. If you want your gold, you need to contact us.
All trades sent on or before July 22nd which have been filled by us but not completed by the other party were canceled on August 31st. This is to free up space and gold on our side. You may have your refund, but you need to resend the trade, properly labeled, to receive it. Thank you.
ALSO NOTE: If your filled trade goes uncompleted for one month (as in, we filled it, you did not accept it again), it will be canceled. Same as above, you may resend the trade and have your gold returned, etc.

Alternative 1 - VIA GOLD
1.) Check your balance by PMing 7-11 Cashier and requesting the balance.
2.) Start a trade with 7-11 Cashier for the amount that 7-11 Cashier says is your balance.
3.) Wait patiently. You will get your gold back.
Alternative 2 - VIA ITEMS
There is not a sufficient selection of items left for us to keep this officially open. All trades sent to us at this point should be filled almost immediately (as in the next time one of the owners sign on), or very quickly should we need to sell an item for more pure gold. There is no wait due to a waiting list.

7/23/07 - All outstanding loans and layaways are now voided without exception. This. Means. No. Exceptions. NONE.
If you have an outstanding loan or layaway with RBG, it must be paid of ASAP. If loans or layaways are not paid by July 23, 2007, all outstanding loans and layaways will be nulled and voided, RBG will sell the inventory, and you will no longer have a loan or layaway, and you will not owe anything.
Any layaways which are nulled will NOT receive compensation for whatever it is they've paid so far - we do not have records of what you've paid and when, so it's impractical for us to do this. Ample warning was given, and we're sorry for the inconvenience, but we have little choice.
We have all of the collateral items and can give them right away. Please send trades for payments or full amounts to 7-11 Cashier and be sure to label it properly. Thank you.

You will NOT gain any more interest from May 23rd forward.
All RBG rules still apply. This includes thread rules as well as rules on trade titles, amounts, courtesy and name changes.
Improperly labeled trades will be canceled - Please put the amount you are withdrawing (AKA: Your account balance) and your security number in the title. Here's an example of how it ought to be labeled. If it's not labeled like this (or very similarly), it WILL get canceled. End of story.
