It's Japan clothing style where ribbons, laces and furbelows are rule!!
Lolita Style inspirations were taken from ROCOCO & VICTORIAN times.
There are many kinds of Lilita:
Classic or Country Lolita Style - EGL (aka Elegant Gothic Lolita)
Knee-length skirts/deress with lot of ribbons, laces and furbelows, mostly in pastel colors. But hey, bloody red can be used too!
As acessoiries they are using plush animals(bunnys, bears...) and dols, laces parasols, bags in all kinds, hats, caps, ribbons & headwears.
Gentle or nor make-up - Light pink or white, light blue,all pastels. They using lipglos. They like blonde hair - dyed or wig.
Sweet Lolita - Ama-Loli (amai means sweet, ne?)

whee Knee-length skirts/deress, mostly pastels,with lot of ribbons, laces and furbelows. Acessoiries are mostly in pastel colors.
Gentle and sweet pink make-up, some lipglos. Sometimes they use only lipglos. Blond hairs are popular, dyed or they are using wigs.Pony tails.Curls, or at least wawy.
Alice Doll Lolita - Light hair, ribbon on head, apron. They are look like Disney's Alice.
Baby Doll Lolita - Doll stilisation. Big eyes like dolls have, sweet pink make-up, but You use a lot of mascara XD to make eyes bigger. Sweet lolita substyle
Shiro-Loli (shiroi means white) - clothes ALL are white.Ribbons, laces, headwear and accessories too!!
Gotic Lolita or Neo Gotic Lolita - Clothes loking like lolita style, but all black&white. Accessories mostly too.
Dark make-up, but not dutiful, it can be pink to ^.^
Classic Gothic Lolita Style - All dark!! Black Umbrella, rosaria, croses. They like wear long black dreses
Deep black hair, dark, black make-up.
Kuro-Loli (kuroi means black) - Gotic lolita ALL in black with accessories and make-up.
Guro-Loli - "horrible lolita" style. Some kind of makabra
blaugh . Clothes heve fake blood marks, they are look like worn.They use bandages, makes fakes scars. All black-red-white(not pure!) with dark make-up.
Victorian Maiden - Ankle-length clothes.Dark and black. Umbrellas.Croses.
Punk/Industrial Lolita - kind of Visual Key and Punk-Rock style
mixed with lolita&gotic loli style. Clothes are mostly black-red-white, belts, croses, skirts/pants with grate, ties.
As acessoiries they are using plush animals(bunnys).
Kodona(Dandy, Gothic Dandy, Oujisama, Elegant Gothic Aristocrat, Prince style, B-lolita) (litle boy) - probably Mana was begin this. It's mens counterpart of Gotic-/Lolita Style. They are usualy wearing dreses and skirts too. It's natural there.
