My post has 2 different ideas, one for new accounts, another a vacation feature.
#1
Wow this thread has started to get pretty big. Anyway idea of mine. Once again completely stolen from gamefaqs XD . www.gamefaqs.com is a forum for counsel and PC gamers, and it kicks a**.
Anyway I was thinking because many people new to Gaia are actually new to forums themselves, and don't know the proper way to learn about a new forum, or basic langauge and terms. So for new user accounts there should be a posting limit O_O . Let me go one to explain.
By posting limit I in no way mean to inhibit the fun of Gaia but rather this can help filter out impatient new people from deserving new people. By limiting how many posts the user can make at first they would be forced to be more careful with how they use thier posts. The limitings I think that would be effective but not imhibiting to the enjoyment of Gaia would be a limit to 10 posts per hour upon first joining.
This really does not inhibit people from having fun, because if they are using the forum for how forums are meant to be used, they should not only be posting but reading other people's responses and replying to them. So if in the first ten minites of the hour they use all ten posts they would have to wait until the next hour to post again.
This limit could continue until the person has made 100 posts, then they would at least have 10 hours of expierence on Gaia. The limit could be doubled to 20 posts an hour. This would give twice the ammount of interaction they could have users. However for having 20 posts an hour the user could gain the next level of unlimited posting at 300 posts, which would be another 10 hours of expierence.
Then at 300 posts, at the least 20 hours of Gaia expierence, the user could gain the now standerd maximun of 1 post per minute. Hopefully this could help newer users learn to be more efficent with thier posts, and learn how to use Gaia by reading other users responses instead of just making a quick comment then moving elsewhere.
Note: With this initial limited posted this could pose a problem on the ammount of gold each user earns. One answer could be to increase the ammount of gold per post for new users. But then people might be tempted to make new accounts so make some quick posts on the side and trade over the extra gold. So we can't do that.
My idea to compensate this would be to give each user 1,500 store points, in addition to the 400(?) gold and peasant cloths you get when first signing up. Or it could be called something less cheesy, but I'm not that creative xp . So anyway these store points would be untradable and could purchase cloths that then would not be tradable(to stop people from making an account to buy cloths then try and sell them back to the store).
This whole idea may seem a bit complicated but for the future and quality of the Gaia forum I think something similar to this could be implimented.

Ok idea. Thanks to some help I got from several other people who helped me make this idea I call it a Vacation Feature. surprised
Basicly there are times when some users may have to go offline for an extended period of time. Be it a weekend, a week, maybe even a month or more, where they will be unable to access thier account. Now if that was me I would be very worried that someone may try to access my account, so this feature would stop people from stealing/altering a users account.
This could be a automatic process, a task of the moderators?, or even have special mods whoes reponsibility it is to make sure this process works properly(automated process migth be best). Anyway a user is going to be offline from the 1st to the 15th of a month. They are worried that someone may try and access thier account, so if they could fill out a form(or something) to have thier account put on vacation from the 1st to the 15th thier account would be secure from theft and alteration.
I hope that make sense. And here is the first way to put a account on vacation.
Heres what I see would happen to put the account on vacation. Access to inventory, delete characture, and edit profile would be denied. That would ensure no one could change a users password, gender, email, or sig(if that matters). Also trading in any form, recieving or iniciation, would not be possible. Also buying and selling items would be disabled. So heres the list of feature that would be disabled for the account during the vacation time.
-Edit Profile
-Inventory
-Delete Characture
-Buying store items
-Selling items to store
-Trading in all forms
Another step to put a account on vacation could also be to disable posting. Which then might as well be a complete tempory lock on the entire account. And so at that point all access, even logging in would be disabled. Thia also would include a lockout of private messages. Therefore it would be similar to banning the account.
-Tempory lock of all access
The reason why I opt for a partially lock on a users account is because at some point the user may be able to access the internet and may want to log-in and bump a thread, check out for any new announcements. Also if a user happens to return early from thier vacation they can still post to earn gold and have fun with thier friends, even if they were still on vacation and could not do anything to alter thier account.
Which also means if a person return early it is thier responsibility to wait out the vacation time, because they choose to sign up for it. That is thier responsiblity, not Gaias.
Side note, someone told me that a game called Runescape had a vacation feature, so if the admins knew that game or how it worked, they could copy some of how it was done and impliment into Gaia.
domokun Thanks for reading!! domokun

My major concern on SPOILERS in entertainment forum.
This is my suggestion considering the lack of structure in the entertaiments forum. I had a thread on this asking other Gaians on ideas for a system to mark posts for spoilers. http://gambino.go-gaia.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=36289772#36289772
What is a spoiler? A spoiler is reveling a major event plot in any sort of anime, videogame, book, and the like. Basically if someone in a forum posts a spoiler the can ruin part if not the whole of the story from whatever media the spoiler was from.
As stands there is only one sad attempt to inform the people of Gaia to not post spoilers unless the thread or post if marked as containing spoilers. This one paragraph is only in one Stickie in the Anime furom.
Xaala
Spoiler warnings:
Keep in mind that many people haven?t seen the ending to a particular anime and would rather not have it spoiled for them. For instance, not everyone has access to fansubs. Some users have only seen the English release of a series that?s aired on Adult Swim and hasn?t completed its run. If you believe your thread/post contains plot/character information beyond a certain point which may ruin the outcome for others, please post a spoiler warning in the title of your thread or at the top of your post in bold letters. You can also hide spoiler information by making the text white, then tell users to highlight the area to read the spoiler.
However one paragraph in only one location is not in any logical for the size that Gaia is. Gaia Online is a forum and should have a system for marking threads as spoilers, a better way to inform the user to not post spoilers unmarked, and a way to enforce the system.
For example I am going to basically descibe another forum's system I go to, www.gamefaqs.com . At GameFaqs there is karma system, eventually you can gain enough karma by posting to able to report other users posts as incorrectly marked for spoilers, as well as spam, vulgur language, and a few other things. On each person post is a link called "post detail" where(if one has the proper karma)can report a user. I then assume a mod will look at the marked post, if the post has in fact been marked correctly as containing a spoiler(without a warning) the person who was marked loses karma and the person who marked the thread correctly not only gains karma but gaians a plus point as marking the post correctly. The more correct marks a person gives the more priority that person's reports gets. Make sense? Also upon signing up to GameFaqs there is a user terms of service agreement. It has been a while since I joined Gaia but I not remember a nice clear concise statement explaining very basic furom rules.
Also by a karma system I do not in anyway mean a increased luck in events. By karma I mean pointed gained through posting and/or marking threads for moderation. I am completely ripping off GameFaqs system but I think it is a really good system to go off of. And GameFaqs is a larger site then, it has been around since 1992. And is owned by user CJayC, and only has sponser ads to support cost. He is the Lanzer of GameFaqs.
Here are some lovely pictures!!!

Another suggestion is on page 4
Actually, there is a MOD in phpBB thats called "Spoiler", you can enable to see whats put as SPOILER or you can leave it like it is, invisible...
Whatever that means...I have no clue so I doubt any of the other Gaians who are say 12, 14, know either.
Also is was proposed to have a way to but icons next to your thread that can be a spoiler marking. Just how stickies have special "S" splat mark, while normaly threads have the paper-like symbol. There could be an optional spoiler symbol.
Ok more of my ideas. Why should there be a system? Well #1 Gaia Online is a forum for Anime. If nothing else people come here and love anime. However to the respect to other people who want to learn about an anime they havn't seen and want to enter a thread about that anime shouldn't have it spoiled for them. Same thing with entering a thread in an anime that they may only have access to on Cartoon Network, or another TV network and want to talk about that anime without having important plot reveled. Especailly with the size that Gaia is it is completely rediculious that there is not a better system. I'm sorry but one paragraph in one stickie does not cut it.
And it disapoints me that a forum, online for almost one year and that has been around in planning for longer does not a system to inform and enforce spoiler marking. And if it would require a mod force just meant for enforcing the rule to identify your thread or post as spoiler why not? That is the responsibility of the website. Because the normal user should not have to fear entering a thread or creating a thread because someone might come in and completely the spoil the thing they wanted to chat about. That isn't right. No one should have to go through that on any forum, and people who spoil should be delt with. Thats all I info I have and I really think its time for some sort of system. One lone paragraph and no way to enforce it is just not right.
Please consider making a system for all the users of Gaia to make it a more enjoyable place.
